The Phantom Thief
Project Overview
This is an original story that I conceived and have been writing in parts as something of a serialized production in the style of an audio drama. No visuals but what the words and acting create in your own mind.
This is a volunteer project that does not pay for your work, so please only apply if you are genuinely interested.
The story encompasses a detective named Miranda and a mysterious case that she and her partner find themselves taking part in involving a string of odd burglaries in the city of Chicago, IL. Wealthy members of society are burglarized only to have their stolen items returned without explanation. Follow Miranda on her journey to uncover the culprit and find out their motives, all while finding herself caught up in a whirlwind romance along the way.
The story will be released in parts meant to comprise 30 minutes of audio in each part which I will be posting on my subreddit, AudioNovella, but once the story is completed, I will be merging it all into a single production which will be posted on Youtube.
I will be releasing casting calls for the characters necessary in each part of the story. A few roles have already been filled, but I will include a script showing lines for the available characters. The casting call will be kept open for one month, at which time I will be finalizing the cast list among those who have submitted for it and putting the audio(s) together.

Just got word on another burglary at a penthouse on Walton Street. And there’s a victim this time.
Security guard. Owners said they found the guy unconscious when they got home this morning. And their safe was cracked. Go check it out.
A wealthy accountant living in Chicago. Self-important and apathetic.
(frustrated) Took you guys long enough. Now that you’re here, can you tell me how long this is going to take?
How long they need to mess with my painting before I can take it back inside.
Are you kidding me? I get it back just to have it taken away again?
Wife to Walton Mattheson. Reserved and slightly nervous, but honest.
I’m not sure, detective. Like we said on the phone, Walton was heading to his car to leave for work earlier and noticed the painting just sitting out here by the fence. When he realized what it was, we called it in right away.
No, nothing. I’m sorry. (pauses) Although… I remember waking up early this morning to hearing the neighbor’s dog barking. They have a boxer named Coby. Nancy goes next door to play with him sometimes.
He’s usually very well-mannered. This is one of the rare times I’ve ever heard him barking at that time of night. Maybe he saw the thief dropping the painting off?
Craig Matthews. Wealthy businessman. Honest, open, and concerned.
Um… About one? Maybe two? We were in Vegas on holiday and flew back in to O’Hare about 11. It took us a while to get out of the airport and back here due to traffic.
(clears throat) Anyway, we called in on the way here to let Jerad know we were coming home. We started getting worried when he didn’t answer. And when we got here, he was passed out on the floor in the living room.
A valuable antique figurine we bought on a trip in India three years ago. Olivia liked it and I got it for her as a birthday gift. It’s made of ivory. We’d been keeping it stored in the safe whenever we’re out of town.
Olivia Matthews. Wife to Craig Matthews. Fidgety, irritated, and impatient.
(irritated) It wouldn’t have taken so long if you hadn’t picked up the wrong bag at the carousel.
(huffs) You mean like the SAFE being broken into? YES.
Most of the time, I like to keep it on display, but I prefer to keep it locked up when we’re gone for more than a few days.
Call came in an hour ago. The owners are Craig and Olivia Matthews. They were out of town on vacation and came back this afternoon. They said they came in and found the security guard passed out on the floor. They tried to wake him up and then called 911.
Jared Caine. 54. EMTs have already been here and took him down to Northwestern Memorial.

Not sure. But the Matthews said the place was clean when they left so it could be from the assailant.
