The Phantom of the Opera Unoriginal Cast Recording (Interest check)
Project Overview
Hello!
I have been working on making a phantom of the opera recording for those interested.
This is merely the interest check if there are people interested in playing the roles, and of course, to see how well everyone can do. I am looking forward to see what this site can offer, and to see the many tallents hidden on here!
basically, for the roles:
Piangi: Tenor
Carlotta:Soprano/Mezzo Soprano
Raoul: Tenor on the edge of baritone
Andre & Firmin are both casual baritons
Madame Giry: Alto
Meg Giry: alto/Soubrette

Real project page will be live shortly
Hello everyone! I’m pleased to annoynce that the project will shortly hold the second, aka. The ”Real” audition. After seeing the amazing tallents this site has to offer, even though we are quite a few people short, I will make the official page within the next week. Now remember, this was the interest check. Now is where the fun starts! Good luck, and Godspeed! -
When it comes to the "cast" roles
Well, I thought I should say this since it might not be obvious, but all the roles that are "cast" are preliminarily so. As stated, this is the interest check only, the cast roles are basically a way for me to remember who I had/have in mind for when I will post the official webpage. If you still want to audition for roles that are cast, you can absolutely still do so, it is just, like I said, a preliminary decision and also a note to help me remember with all the other things going around in my head as it is. The submitted auditions I have heard so far are very good, keep it up! Regards, Miggs86
The Phantom is a hideously deformed genious who lives in the cellars of the Opera Populaire.
From Music of the Night
You alone can make my song take flight
help me make the music of the nightFrom the Phantom of the Opera:
Sing once again with me, our strange duet!
My power over you grows stronger yet!
And though you turn from me to glance behind,
The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind! From Past the Point of No Return:
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime
Lead me, save me from my sollitude...
Say you'll want me with you here beside you...
Anywhere you go let me go too... Christine, that's all I ask of...
Christine Daaé is the female lead of the story, she is a ballerina who has been given singing lessons from the angel of music that her dead father sent her... At least, that's what she thinks...
sing the Cadenza from The Phantom of the opera
Sing a few bars from Wishing you were somehow here again
All I ask of you:
Anywhere you go, let me go too
Love me, that's all I ask of you.
Raoul is a naive and young viscount who is in love with the singer Christine Daaé who, unbeknownst to him, have been visited by the phantom of the opera, who she think is an angel her dead father sent from heaven to help her. He is very resolute and is willing to protect Christine with his life, and when he finds out that the phantom is the one who has been terrorizing the opera and kidnapped Christine, he wants to kill him.
from Little Lotte:
Little Lotte let her mind wander
Little Lotte thought: Am I fonder of dolls
Or of goblins or shoes?
speak:
Those picnics in the attic
sing:
Or of chocolates
speak:
As we read to each other dark stories of the North
sing:
The Angel of Music sings songs in my head!
From The Mirror:
Who's is that voice? Who is that in there?
*followed by*
Christine! Angel!
From All I Ask of You:
No more talk of darkness, forgett these wide eyed fears. I'm here, nothing can harm you, my words will warm and calm you.
Carlotta's role is VERY demanding to do, she has some of the strongest soprano-parts in the entire musical.
Please demonstrate your range by singing the first bars of Hannibal:
This trophy from our saviours, from our saviours, from the enslaving force of rome!
If you would, sing a few bars from "Prima Donna"
Please sing Poor fool, he makes me laugh allong with the "Your part is silent, little toad, and show me if you can do the croak.
Ubaldo Piangi is a tenor that sings at the Opera Populaire together with his wife Carlotta.
Please sing the part in Hanibal
Sing Prima Donna
sing Piangi's part of Don Juan Triumphant.
Meg Giry is Christine's best friend and support. it's not a huge wrong, but as a musician, Meg needs to be very good. there's alot of harmonizing in "Prima Donna" and "Masquerade", not to mention the duet with Christine in "Angel of Music".
From Angel of Music:
Christine... Christine....
Where in the world have you been hiding? Really you were perfect!
I only wish I knew your secret, who is your great tutor?Christine you must have been dreaming. Stories like this can't come true.
Christine you're talking in riddles, and it's not like you. He's here, the phantom of the opera! He's here, the phantom of the opera!
From The Phantom of the Opera:
He's here... The phantom of the opera!
Beware... The phantom of the opera!
Madame giry is the ballet mistress of the opera. She seems to be just that, but is hiding a secret...
Please, Monsieur - I know no more than anyone else.
(uneasily)Please, Monsieur, don't ask, there have been too many accidents . . .
Very well. It was years ago. Very well. It was years ago. There was a travelling fair in the city, Gypsies.
I was very young, studying to be a ballerina,
One of many living in the dormitory of the opera house.
I hid him from the world and its cruelties.
He has known nothing else of life since then.
As if this opera house, it was his playground and, now, his artistic domain.
He's a genius. He's an architect and designer.
He's a composer and a magician. A genius, monsieur.
Yes, you did well. He will be pleased. And you! You were a disgrace tonight! Such temps de cuisse! Such rondes de jambe! Come... we rehearse. NOW!
Meg Giry. Are you a dancer? Then come and practice. breathe My dear, I was asked to give you this.
Those who speak of what they know, find too late that prudent silence is wise. Joseph Buquet hold your tongue. He will burn you with the heat of his eyes.
Gilles Andre is allong with Richard Firmin the new manager of the Opera Populaire, they are hardly if ever seen without eachother and merely wishes to make the Opera into a good business.
From Notes:
Damnable! Will they all walk out? Thit is Damnable?
But we have no cast!
Dear Andre what a charming gala, Christine enjoyed a great success!
we were hardly bereft when Carlotta left. On that note, the music was entrancing, but the dancing was a lamentable mess!Speaking:
If I remember rightly, Elissa has a rather fine aria in Act Three of "Hannibal" I wonder signora if, as a personal favor, you would oblige us with a private rendition? Unless of course, Monsieur Reyer objects...
From Prima Donna:
Your public need you
signora no! The world wants you!and at the end: Light up that stage with that age old report! Sing prima donna once more!... once more!
Richard Firmin is the taller and more robust manager of the two who wishes the opera to be a succesfull business and intends to not have an opera ghost overrule him.
From Notes
"Mystery after gala night,"
It says, "Mystery of sopranos flight!"
"Mystified," baffled Sûreté say
"We are mystified. We suspect foul play!"
Bad news on soprano scene
First Carlotta, now Christine
Still at least the seats get sold
Gossip's worth its weight in gold
Diva tenders resignation
Cover does a moonlight flit
Half your cast disappears
But the crowd still cheers
Opera!
To hell with Gluck and Handel
It's a scandal that'll pack 'em in the aisles! From Prima Donna:
We need you too.
signora no! The world wants you!and at the end: Light up that stage with that age old report! Sing prima donna once more!... once more!
From Prima Donna:
We need you too.
signora no! The world wants you!and at the end: Light up that stage with that age old report! Sing prima donna once more!... once more!
He's an auctioneer, auctioning off things that was found in the cellars of the opera and from productions. As long as you have a little mystery to your delivery, that is great.
As for Monsieur Reyer, he is the conductor of the paris opera. He needs a voice that is very gentlemanny.
Sold. Your number, sir? Thank you.
Lot 663, then, ladies and gentlemen: a poster
for this house's production of "Hannibal" by
Chalumeau.Do I have ten francs? Five then. Five I am bid.
Six, seven. Against you, sir, seven. Eight.
Eight once. Selling twice. Sold, to Raoul,
Vicomte de Chagny.and the most important line, in my oppinion:
Lot 666, then: a chandelier in pieces. Some of
you may recall the strange affair of the
Phantom of the Opera: a mystery never fully
explained. We are told ladies and gentlemen,
that this is the very chandelier which figures in
the famous disaster. Our workshops have
restored it and fitted up parts of it with wiring
for the new electric light, so that we may get a
hint of what it may look like when re-
assembled. Perhaps we may frighten away the
ghost of so many years ago with a little
illumination, gentlemen?
a piece of the ensemble, and the guy who says "showing here" in the start of the auction.
Showing here!
He's there, the phantom of the opera!
Beware, the phantom of the opera!
Track down this murderer, he must be found!
Track down this murderer, he must be found!
Track down this villain now who runs to ground!
Too long he's preyed on us, but now we know, the phantom of the opera is here, deep down bellow!
Joseph is the senior stagehand and chief of the ladders I think it was. He is the one that gets hung by the phantom at the end of act one.
Please monsieur, don't look at me
As God's my whitness, I was not at my post.
Please monsieur there's noone there,
Or if there is, well then it must be a ghost!Like yellow parchment is his skin
A great black hole serves as the nose which never grew
You must be always on your guard,
Or he will catch you with his magical lasso!
He's there, the phantom of the opera
beware the phantom of the opera
Track down this murderer he must be found, track down this murderer he must be found.
Too long he preyed on ys, but now we know the phantom of the opera is there, deep down bellow
Try the chorus part from hannibal
Ladies and gentlemen - Madame Giry, thank you - may I have your attention, please? As you know, for some weeks there have been rumours of my Imminent retirement. I can now tell you that these were all true and it is my pleasure to introduce to you the two gentlemen who now own the Opera Populaire, M. Richard Firmin and M. Gilles Andre.
Singing:
DON ATTILIO GENTLE WIFE, ADMIT YOUR LOVING HUSBAND.
ATTENTION BACK ON STAGE (The COUNTESS admits DON ATTILIO. He is an old fool)
DON ATTILIO MY LOVE - I AM CALLED TO ENGLAND ON AFFAIRS OF STATE, AND MUST LEAVE YOU WITH YOUR NEW MAID. (Aside) Though I'd happily take the maid with me.
