While confident in his hero personality, Beetle-Boy has an inferiority complex as well as imposter syndrome. He doesn't believe he's capable enough to fit the mantle he's taken, yet this conflicts with his belief that the mantle can only be filled BY him, and that it must be filled for the sake of his city.

People don't need heroes. It's a fact. People create heroes to inspire them to do good, or as an excuse not to try.
A hero is nothing but an ideal that people without power cling to. The reality is you'll either become a martyr for some cause, or an idol to be worshipped. Best case scenario is you're forgotten altogether
Do you know why I gave up? Why I quit being a hero? It's because evil. Always. Wins! Good is a candle that flickers in the dark. It may provide some warmth if your close, a beacon if you're farther away. But eventually it runs out of fuel, and then the darkness comes back. You can light it again, but by then you'd have already lost people to the cold.
A dragon God trapped in a human body, Quetzalcoatl longs to be free of her human shell and wishes to return to the point where she is worshipped yet again. Incredibly greedy and supremely arrogant, she believes that humans should idolize and fear her. And so this arrogance comes through in her many interactions with others.
