The New Guardian: Chapter 2 + 3
Project Overview
We are now looking for people to fill roles in Chapter 2!
After a 19-year-old Vancouverite falls to a heart attack, he finds himself in a strange world which looks eerily familiar. It is nothing like the city he came from. After a series of events, he is by the mayor of a nearby town that he is a chosen Earthling warrior who is picked out every 100 years to fight a great evil. Then, as the absurd cliche comes to him, he realizes he might be in a J-RPG.
Despite being somewhat of a spoof that makes fun out of the J-RPG mechanics and cliches, drama comes to play as he tries to figure out what happened to him in the other world. Did he die? Is he in a coma? Is he in a dream? Or was he actually transported to another world? Throughout his journey, the story unravels as he figures out what exactly happened to him and what happened to the people he loves the most. All of this is wrapped up with a love story between the two main characters, James and Kaito, who are unsure of how they feel towards each other as they are both guys. The whole concept is forbidden in this world as Japanese RPG's rarely have any reference to this sexuality. This is supposed to be a flip on the formula as Kaito is usually the hero type in a J-RPG. This relationship's strange to both of them, and they try to figure out how to handle it. I want this relationship to feel normal, not over the top. It's not a yaoi, and there will be no sex scenes. It's not fan service.

James is a 19 year old Vancouverite dealing with losing his best friend years ago. After having a heart attack, he finds himself in a new world like the JRPGs and anime he has played and watched. However, he finds out he's the chosen one in this new world and has to go on a journey to overcome his depression and guilt for who he has lost.
KAITO: Umm...I’ve been wanting to ask this
for so long! What’s your world like!?JAMES:
Oh, umm, well, there’s tall buildings that go up to the sky, towns like this if
you are lucky enough, people carry these things called phones with them. They
can communicate to people around the world in a matter of seconds.KAITO: WHAT!? That’s CRAZY!!!!
JAMES:
Yeah...but people don’t talk to each other anymore. People don’t...talk to me…JAMES: Oh! I’m the idiot!? I’m not the one
who is blindly being so positive and being all so perfect. Your
brother’s in a fucking cell and you’re like, "oh
everything will be fine!" How come you're not affected by these things and I
am!? Huh? Why are you so perfect!? Why can’t I be like you!? (pause) Just let them kill
me. I’m worthless.JAMES: I couldn’t help
him. I would just make the situation worse. My mind. My mind is a prison.
Tapping, checking, looking back, panicking, counting, terrified, tapping,
checking, looking back, panicking, counting, over and over again. I couldn’t
help him, and I couldn’t keep it in any longer. …no…no…no…NO…NO….NO!!! (quiet
to loud).
Bell is Princess Akemi's new royal servant. He's always admired the princess and wanted to get to know her. He's thrilled to be serving her as he's a big fan of royalty. He's a happy-go-lucky guy, who says sorry all the time and bumbles a lot. The princess thinks he's pretty cute though. Bell should sound around 16. Medium-high tone.
It’s fine! I like adventure! I don’t like being stuck inside for too long.
BELL (imitates the princess, he gives a girly laugh at the end): Meet me at the waterfall plaza tomorrow at 8. We will have a surprise waiting for you!
JAMES: You’re really dedicated to your job, aren’t you?
BELL: Yep! I’ll do anything for her!
BELL: Your grace, your grace! Princess...I’m so sorry. Belleville was attacked.

Cute. The boy just learned his new toy.
Minat is Kaito's best friend. He is the smart alec of the group, but he's also incredibly kind. He should sound around 14-15 years old. He sounds younger than he should at his age, which is 17. He gets made fun of for it. He believes that Kaito has to be with the princess of the world as that is the natural order of things. When he finds out much later on about James, the main character, and Kaito having some sort of feelings for each other, there is a conflict between the two best friends as he disagrees with the idea of a same-sex relationship.
Kaito. It’s bad. Your
parents were able to get away, and Hiroko was able to escape, but Luciper...he
was....he was... taken by the soldiers, and I couldn’t stop them. They said if
the Guardian doesn’t return by nightfall, they will kill Luciper... (Luciper is Kaito's little brother)Ah, well. I was his study partner for magic history in class. He was
always lousy, so he asked me for help. Going over it with him helped me with my
exams anyway, so it worked out, I guess. Now we're best friends.JAMES: I study alone. I was always ignored.
MINAT: Were you always ignored or too afraid of failing to talk to
others?KAITO!!! What are you doing!? You'll die!
Baldric is the King of the corrupt nation of Manuveria. Seeking power, he attracted the attention of the Dark One. Not much is known about this dark being yet, but he is corrupting Baldric's soul into fear and anger.
Good, my lord. We will find the human. What do you want me to do with the mayor? (speaking to the Dark One)
BALDRIC: Well, we received word from the mayor of Belleville, our spy...and…
DARK ONE: You let him get away. I cannot tolerate this for much longer.
BALDRIC: I’m...I’m sorry, my lord. We will catch him. We have one of his friends.We will as a nation strike our enemies down! They will know
to fear the might of Manuveria!!! (making a speech to the army)
Daisuke is a warrior from the Manuverian empire, who has left his position and became a traitor to protect the Guardian. He is training the group to become better at swordplay and magic but deep down, he questions his own capabilities and tries to hide it. He has a gruff English accent and he's around 25-28 years old.
You heard me. Why do you want to kill them!? We need the guardian to survive.
(whispering): Give him some space. It’s been difficult for all of us.
What I first want you to do is to spread out your hands. James, listen to your surroundings. Focus on the energy from where the sound is made. Spread that energy into your very being. Figment that wind into a physical form. Imagine it in your mind. And then...let it go.
