The Flim Flam Peelcore 8000 (song from the official My Little Pony comics)

Project Overview

In Friends Forever Issue #9 of the official My Little Pony comics by IDW (written by Christina Rice, art by Tony Fleecs), there is a song called "The Flim Flam Peelcore 8000". It's not the first song in the comics, though. That one was "Laugh, Ponyacci, Laugh": https://mlp.fandom.com/wiki/Laugh,_Ponyacci,_Laugh For that song, the writer (Ted Anderson) contacted musician David Larsen and asked him to write music for it. (I don't know any details past that, such as if any money was exchanged.) The song was performed by Eileen Montgomery (a.k.a. ElieMonty) as Pinkie Pie.

The second song in the official comics was Hearth's Warming Peeve. I briefly considered attempting to write music for this, but the prose was a bit too much to make sense of for a melody.

So here we are at the third song. I wrote a melody for this one, which you can hear here: https://musescore.com/user/27997005/scores/5340401 Christina Rice liked it: https://twitter.com/christinarice/status/1068183931571195904 And she tweeted my "finished" product: https://twitter.com/christinarice/status/1112019945838133249

So this song already basically has the approval of its writer, and its an official MLP song, just one from the comics. I can sing; I was in choir for five years. But I don't think it would be right for me to do both voices.

That's where I need someone's help. I need someone to sing/perform as either Flim or as Flam. I can do either one. If this goes well, I might also get some help from another musician to make the song sound even better.

Flim and Flam. You know them. The con-men, salesmen, and now owners of the Las Pegasus resort, doing slightly less shady business. Try to sound like Sam Vincent or Scott McNeil while singing on pitch and with rhythm, okay? You can do this!

  • As Flim, perform as many of these lines as you can: This line from "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000": "Don't worry, everypony, there are plenty of apples in Equestria. We'll find some others and make more cider than all of Ponyville can drink!"  and these lines from Leap of Faith: "Thank you, one and all, for your attendance, and we guarantee that your time here will not be spent in vain!" and "Congratulations, Granny Smith! You just made the purchase of a lifetime!"

  • As Flam, perform as many of these lines as you can: From SSCS6K: "Don't you worry, everypony! There'll be plenty of cider for all of you!" and "Oh my, oh my, out of cider again?", and/or these lines from Leap of Faith: "In fact, we think it will prove to be the most valuable time you've ever spent!" and "A phenomenon? What's that?"

  • Singing audition! This is what the project is all about. Either [1] Record yourself singing as Flim or as Flam from a portion of one of their songs from the series (choices are: The Flim Flam Brothers, Flim Flam Miracle Curative Tonic, or Friendship U) or [2] Record yourself singing the first "verse" of the Flim Flam Peelcore 8000. Here's the melody to follow: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/449828201620045834/611877274546864128/FFP8K_1st_section_sample.mp3 Here's the corresponding sheet music: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/449828201620045834/611877512191934494/unknown.png

If you want to sing the whole thing (it's quite short), be my guest! The rest is on my Musescore profile: https://musescore.com/user/27997005/scores/5340401
