The Colors of the Rainbow is an upcoming Slice-of-Life animated series, being made by Court Jester Productions.
Welcome to the city of Dathanna, where colors of all shades, shapes, and sizes go to live out their lives. In this city, there live 8 colors who are the very best of friends: The anger-prone photographer Red, the chaotic Orange, the environment-loving Yellow, the energetic Green, the gloomy Blue, the shy and timid Indigo, the music-loving troublemaking Purple, and the kind motherly Pink. Join these 8 as they overcome the many obstacles that life has for them in the colorful city they call home.
REQUIREMENTS
1. For VAs, You must have a high-quality microphone, or at the very least, you must be clear for me to hear and have any background noise be minimal. For the crew, you must have a portfolio of some kind.
2. You must have a Discord account, as the project will be going into production over there.
3. For VAs, Your voice files must be sent in a .wav format.
4. Remember to have fun!
NOTE: Payment on this project will be distributed upon completion and uploading of the pilot episode, as well as when revenue begins to be generated. So if all these conditions are met, expect to be paid in the weeks following the uploading of the pilot.
Red is a very strong-willed girl. She knows what she wants and she will do anything to get it. She's got a bit of a temper on her and if she gets mad, especially if it involves someone mistreating her friends, you'd best get out of her line of fire because no one is safe when her temper blows. The only one who is really capable of calming her down is her girlfriend, Yellow.
Voice: She should be in a medium-low range, something like Vaggie from Hazbin Hotel.
[Angry] Are you kidding me? Who does this guy think he is? If you don't like someone, fine, whatever, but don't spout off every single reason you don't like someone straight to their face! That's just cruel! And the fact that this guy did exactly that to one of my best friends no less, oh he is just BEGGING for a beating!
[Tender] [Sighs] Look, Yellow, no matter what, I'm always going to be here for you. I'm not like the others, I'm not going to abandon you or break your heart. I'm here for you, I always will be here for you. And honestly, those other girls are idiots for dumping you, because you are amazing. You're kind, you're smart, you always stand up for what you believe is right. You're incredible, Yellow, and I am so lucky to have you in my life.
[Annoyed] Green, I swear, a day is going to come soon where all that caffeine you're drinking is going to cut off the blood flow to your brain.
Orange is chaotic and a bit of a mess. She's not one for schedules, normal work, or really anything that's extremely mundane. Orange does what she does and doesn't care what anyone has to say. You either love her or you don't. She really doesn't care either way but if you love her, you and she will be the best of friends because she has a HUGE heart. She's got a habit of doing a lot of different accents and voices from time to time.
NOTE: You have the freedom to improvise with the lines given, as Orange is meant to be a very comedic character, so if you wish to improv any of the audition lines, you have the freedom to do so.
Voice: She should sound very expressive, and able to do a lot of different voices. I hear her in like a medium-high range.
[Joking] Oh my god, I just realized something. You're Red, and you're Yellow, and you're well...you know, making the sparks fly, [Snickers slightly] So does that technically mean that [tries to hold back laughter] that I'm your daughter? [Bursts out laughing] Cus like red and yellow make orange [continues to laugh] Oh my god, whoo okay, okay I'm alright now, I'm good. Sorry about that....mommy. [Starts laughing again]
[Annoyed] Schedules? Who gives a rat's ski-hat about schedules? Life is unpredictable and chaotic, stop trying to plan it like it's anything but.

[30s News Reporter] And Green's running, very nice pace, good form, he seems to be doing fine-oh, oh my lord! Green just crashed into a building! Oh, he wasn't looking where he was running! And the building just burst into flames! Oh my goodness, how a disaster like this could happen, folks, I simply don't know! Oh, the humanity!
[Cowgirl] Well part'ner, why don't you hop on ol Bessie here and we'll mosey on over to the corral!
[Gangster] Now look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way, see? This can all be over if you hand over the loot, see? Ya don't cooperate, and soon you'll be eatin' lead and sleepin' with the fishes, see?
[Richard Nixon] My fellow Dathannians, I am not a crook.
Yellow is very mellow and down to earth. She cares greatly about the environment and she will protest at any cost to help save the planet. Her mellow and calm voice doesn't always help her message get across, though. Luckily for her, she always has her girlfriend Red right there beside her to help her voice be heard.
Voice: Her voice should sound very calm and soothing, kinda like the way AlternateAurora talks in her videos.
[Determined] People of Dathanna, please, I implore you, help us save the trees! If you love nature and want it to still be here for generations to come, we need to appreciate and value nature now and do what we can to conserve and preserve. If everyone makes little changes every day, together we can make a big impact. Give Mother Earth back her power, let's go green starting this hour!
[Warm] Oh, Red. What did I do to deserve such an amazing person in my life? Every day we're together is like, another reason to be happy to be alive. You always make me feel special, in a way none of my other girlfriends did. You listen to me, you care about what I have to say. That means more to me then you could imagine. I love you so much.
[Upset] I just don't understand why they don't listen. It's like they don't care about the earth we all share. Our environment is important, without it, we wouldn't even be alive. why can't they see that?
Electric and full of energy, It's hard to get Green to slow down for even a second. Even when he's sick, it's hard to tell because he just doesn't slow down. He always has to be doing something and it sorta wears on his friends because he always wants to be out partying or playing games. He doesn't really know the meaning of just relaxing.
Voice: He should sound very energetic, very upbeat, with a range that's something like Jaleel White's Sonic the Hedgehog voice in Sonic SatAM
[Smug] Yeah yeah, Laugh all you want, Red, but trust me, drinking 20 cups of coffee a day is the only true way to properly wake up in the morning.
[Energetic, Fast-Paced] Ooooo what are we watching? Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? Sci-fi? Romance? Horror? Fantasy? Adventure? What is it? What is it? What? What? What? [Pause] Ugh, a nature documentary? Boring! Lemme know when you're watching something that's, y'know, actually interesting!
[Determined, then Confused] I gotta go fast!... Wait am I allowed to say that, legally?
Blue has been through a lot growing up and as such, they hold a lot of her emotions inside and they don't let many people into their heart. They tend to be a bit gloomy and oftentimes, they'll keep to themself but they will brighten up when their friends are around, they are the only few people out there that can put a smile on Blue's face.
Voice: Their voice should be kinda in a middle ground between monotone and emotional. Think Raven from Teen Titans, but with more emotion in their voice somewhat.
[Depressed] If you don't mind, I'd like to be alone right now. I just, I need time to think. I hope you understand.
[Happy] You know, Eleanor Roosevelt once said that many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints on your heart. I never really believed it until I met you guys. And I highly doubt the waves of time will wash those away any time soon.
[Annoyed] Red, please punch her. I will pay you fifty bucks if you punch her right in the face. I'm usually not one for violence, but for this, I'll make an exception.
Indigo is sweet, innocent, shy, and has a very kind heart. She will do anything for anyone. She will give the shirt on her back to a stranger if they need it, but sometimes, her naïve and sweet nature can cause her to be taken advantage of.
Voice: She should sound very soft and high-pitched, kinda like Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
[Kind] Oh, that's okay, you don't have to pay me. I was more than happy to help. Helping out someone who needs it is payment enough for me, anyway.
[Nervous] U-um, I-I-I don't know if I can do that. You know how I am when it comes to public speaking, and g-giving a speech in front of the whole t-town? I'd just make a fool of myself. Can't you get someone else to do it? Please?
[Shy] H-hi. um, I'm Indigo. I um, I heard that you, uh, um I mean, s-someone told me you're running a, [Takes a deep breath] I heard you were in ch-charge of a book club and I would uh, like to join...if you'll have me, that is.
Purple is Indigo's twin sister and besides the two looking alike, there's not much else the two have in common. Purple is deep into music and is way edgier than her sister. She loves making music and playing music as loud as she possibly can. She's all about pulling pranks on people and generally getting herself into trouble, especially when it comes to the law.
Voice: She should have a medium-low voice range with a rasp. Think like Amethyst from Steven Universe.
[Focused, looking through albums in a music store] Hmm, Beatles, Nah I've got all their records. Joan Jett, got em, Billy Joel, got everything, Buddy Holly, been there, got that, Justin Bieber?...yeaaaa that's a big fat N-O, thank you!
[Excited] Guess who just scored tickets to one of the most wicked concerts ever! The Cyan Dragons are coming to Dathanna for a live concert and I just got us front row tickets, dudes!
[Worn Out] Hey Indigo? I've um, I've got a bit of a favor to ask you. I kinda got caught by the boys in navy blue, for honestly no reason, I mean tagging a building is totally an art now, not a crime, but that's beside the point. Anyways, can you come over here and bail me out?
Pink is the parent of her friends. She is always there when someone needs to talk or just a hug. As such, she and Purple butt heads pretty often. She's also always down for a good party and having fun, she can get a bit crazy though when it comes to parties, especially if alcohol is involved.
Voice: She should sound very motherly and nurturing, kinda like the mother gorilla from Tarzan
[Stern] Purple, why is it you insist on getting yourself in trouble with the law? You can't keep expecting your sister to bail you out, she's not gonna be there for you forever. You're gonna have to learn to be more responsible, and less reckless.
[Motherly] Oh Yellow, sweetie, I know it may not feel like people are listening to you now, but trust me, one day, they will look back and think of Yellow as an icon, a symbol for how to take good care of our earth and our environment. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, you will be remembered for your ideals and your passion.
[Drunk] Hey, hey, lemme [Hiccups] lemme tell you somethin'. You are an amazzzzzzzing persson. you are abssolutely amazing, you're like, like um, the-the queen victoria of like, amazingnesss or somethinn I dunno.
Turquoise is very loud and full of life. You always know when he walks into a room, as he always likes to make an entrance. He's also got a bit of an ego on him, and he tends to get bored pretty quickly.
Voice: He should sound something like Kuzco from The Emperor's New Groove. Bit of a high range.
[Confident] What's happenin', my peeps? How we doing? Hope you saved a spot for me on the dance floor, because I am ready to bust some moves!
[Bored] Is there a point to this? I mean no offense, but you've been prattling on for about what? 40 minutes? Can we speed this up a bit?
Magenta is very strong-willed and opinionated. She always has a hard time backing down from an argument or admitting when she's wrong. She's also all about the beauty life, always wanting to look her very best.
Voice: She should sound kinda like a mesh of Sharpay from High School Musical and Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale.
[Stubborn] Um I don't think so. You might not be aware of this, but owning a dog will just give you rabies, it's a fact, look it up if you don't believe me.
[Relaxed] Ahh, nothing like a day at the spa to make you forget those troubles, am I right or am I right, ladies?
Brown is all about archaeology and digging for gold or artifacts. He's also got a bit of a conspiracy mind. Nothing can stop him from figuring out why things are the way they are, he's constantly coming up with theories providing explanations on that which have yet to be explained.
Voice: He should sound intelligent, but also slightly insane. His words should be pretty articulate.
[Paranoid] Figure 1: Dathanna town hall. Seems like a normal governmental building, right? Well, you would be right if you weren't so incredibly WRONG! Figure 2: A series of e-mails, sent from Mayor Democrat Blue to someone named Lizard Green, which was all the evidence I needed to finally confirm my theory! Figure 3: The mayor is working with lizard people, who are planning to take over the government, and soon, invade our city and take over the world! Now you all know, so now you must warn the people! Warn them of the catastrophe that will soon overtake our fair city if nothing is DONE about this! We must take action! Warn the people, my friends! WARN THE PEOPLE!
[Intrigued] Hmm, fascinating. This appears to be a tyrannosaurus skull, but the mouth is carved into more of a beak shape than a muzzle. Very interesting, I'm going to have to study this back at the lab.
Dark and mysterious, from afar, Black looks tough and like someone you don't want to mess with. But once you get to know them, you'll find that they really have a HUGE heart and are just a big teddy bear. They will do anything to protect the people she cares about, especially their girl, White. They're also good friends with Purple and have a bit of a rebellious side, though White helps keep them from doing anything too crazy.
Voice: They should sound somewhat like Toni Topaz from Riverdale. Medium-Low range with a bit of a rasp when they get angry.
[Agressive] Alright, punk, this is what's going to happen! You're going to give my girl back the money you stole from her, you're gonna apologize to her, and then, you're gonna leave and never bother us again! UNDERSTAND? Good.
[Kind] Well, if it really means that much to you then you know what? Let's do it!
White is a complete and total neat freak with extreme OCD. She almost never goes outside without her hand sanitizer and gloves which is why she rarely ever goes out. She's the kinda person that will actually clean her cleaning supplies. If it weren't for Black keeping her life exciting, she'd probably never leave her house.
Voice: Basically, she should sound something like Monica Geller from Friends.
[Content] Whoo, well it took like, 7 hours but I finally managed to clean every square inch of my house...I don't know whether to feel accomplished or ashamed...I'm acc-amed.
[Anxious] Black, you made sure she used hand sanitizer before she came in here right? Right??
Gray is very snobby and materialistic. He only cares about the finer things in life and won't settle for anything less. He wears nothing but designer clothes from head to toe, even his house is filled to the brim with expensive antiquities and trinkets.
Voice: Very snooty and pompous, a little nasally as well.
[Disgusted] Ugh, what garish behavior! I swear, there is no such thing as manners for lower-class citizens. They are all such uncouth animals.
[Smug] Why this piece of artwork was given to me by Queen Royal Purple herself. Such a delightful lady, very eloquent. And over here is my priceless collection of Faberge eggs brought in all the way from Japan. Aren't they exquisite?
Silver is Gold's twin brother. He is very subtle, sly, and laid back. While Silver loves to go to parties about as much as Gold does, he always sits back and waits until Gold is done doing what she's doing. Once she is, he swoops in and his energy comes out in full swing.
Voice: He should sound very laid back and sly, kinda like Nick Wilde from Zootopia.
[Nonchalant] Yeah that's cool. Don't mind me, I'm just checking my BlueBird. As you were. As far as you're concerned, I'm not even here.
[Sly] Well now that my darling sister has departed, how'sabout we do this, Silver style eh? I mean come on, a whole party and no booze? No drugs? Gimme a break. Let's have some REAL fun, shall we?
Gold is Silver's twin sister. She is very eccentric and bold in everything she does. You always know when she arrives at a party and when she leaves. Gold always has to be the center of attention. She's also trying her hardest to find a man to be with, but she's not exactly the best at flirting.
Voice: Very perky and energetic, kinda like Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls.
[Energetic] Who's ready to PAR-TAY, people?? I see a karaoke machine and I have got a song in my heart that is aching to get out! I must set it free!
[Flirty, which shifts into desperate halfway through] Hey there handsome, names Gold, as in I'm your golden dream. So, you come by this place often, or am I just lucky? Wait, wait where are you going? Oh come on, my flirting isn't THAT bad! Can I least get a kiss? A hug? Just let me hold your hand!
