The Sergeant is a hardened veteran who leads the rifles on this dangerous mission. He is from a lower class background.
Regional British accents are heavily encouraged. No prior decision has been made in favour of one accent or another. Open to English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish and regional within these.
Estimated 7-10 lines for first episode. Likely repeat character for future episodes.
*Loud, commanding* "The square looks clear! How's Harwood?"
*sarcastic* "Could'a broken it to me gently... *louder, commanding* Right, that's the church yard there, lets get to those cannons!"
*Command* "You free two get up that tower and wave the flag to signal to the beach! Rest of you, get ready for a counter attack!"
The intelligence officer is the right-hand man of the General. He has his fingers in many pies and has an air of knowing everything about everyone - which is his job.
He is from an upper class background. Regional British Accents are encouraged (Not just England) but for this role should still be delivered with an air of superiority.
Expect 4-5 lines for the first episode. Probable repeat character for future episodes.
*Tone: Calm, information, source of knowledge* "These, Sir, are 'The Rifles', an elite skirmish unit. Their weapons are far more accurate than muskets and fighting in green allows them to camouflage"
*Tone: Calm, authority* "You'll need to hold that village until re-enforcements arrive Captain, but I'm sure you're more than fit for the job! Off you trott."
*Calm but congratulatory* "Ah, excellent work Sergeant! A shame about the Captain, but you held on until we got here. I'm going to recommend a field-commission for you to be made leftenant... I think we can expect big things from you!"
* Spelling would be Lieutenant, but pronunciation for this is lef-ten-ant.
This rifleman is from a lower-class background.Regional British accents encouraged.
This character may have very few if any more lines than the audition.
"Yes Sarge!"
"Sarge... Sorry to interupt... this gate's unlocked!"
*Tone: Shout, Urgent* "Cavalry coming into the village!"
A teller of tall-tales, this rifleman believes he is a ladies man and has the answer to everything. He is a decent shot with a rifle however.
This character may have a handful for lines, but is likely to be a repeat character in any future episodes. British Regional accents encouraged.
*Confident* "Sarge, traditionally to gain entry into a walled village, we need a local washer-lady to distract the guards while we sneak up and stab the guards in the back"
*Confident* "Well, you just need to give me a few minutes to seduce one... or some money"
*Annoyed* "Oi, I ain't wearing it!"
An older rifleman, this grizzled veteran probably speaks with a lower, gritty voice. Regional accents encouraged.
There will likely be a handful of lines for this character. Unfortunately they won't be in any future episodes!
"C'mon, we didn't like him anyway!"
"How're we goina' get into the town then, Sarge?"
*Tone: Banterful* We could always put you in a dress, Sigwick!"
