Project Overview
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first of many casting calls for The Binding of Blood and Bones, a Criminal Minds fan fiction audiodrama!
About the Project
The Binding of Blood and Bones is a fan fiction I began writing when I first discovered and fell in love with Criminal Minds as a show. If you want to read what's available, you can find the story here. It is unfinished, but once the scripts catch up to where I am in the story, both the book and the audio drama will be written in tandem.
While I was first developing that story, a friend of mine had me do some readings of her own fan fictions, inspiring me to write the script for this audiodrama. As I am the original writer of the fan fiction, it will stay true to the plot of that story, but the writing in the script has been adapted for a podcast format.
Unfortunately, as this is a fan adaptation of a copyrighted work, I am taking volunteers only for this project. All work done will be unpaid. However, you will have an opportunity to offer links to other profiles, websites, or projects you are associated with to be placed in the description. Listeners will be encouraged to support those projects in order to support the individual participants further.
Timeline
The current casting call is for prequel characters and an additional director, which will be open until January 8th, 2023. Casting will be announced January 10th, after which those cast will be contacted to work out reading/recording dates. There is no set release date for this project, but once the audio editing is completed it will be released on all standard podcast platforms.
Requirements
1. Quality Mic/Sound - Participants must have a good quality microphone with little to no background noise. Both USB and XLR microphones are acceptable.
2. Age - Only those age 18 and older may audition for this project. The show contains a number of topics inappropriate for a younger audience, and I am not comfortable working with minors on a project containing those subjects.
3. Commitment - Be prepared to commit to the role if you are cast, including additional appearances in following episodes of the series. Most of the main characters will require a long term commitment, while others may not appear in subsequent episodes. If you are unsure of the commitment level, please feel free to reach out via private message to discuss prior to auditioning.
4. Method of Contact - Discord is typically my main point of contact in large projects such as this. Please either have an email address, Discord account, or both readily available that you can be easily reached at. This will prevent delays in scheduling and recording and ensure that the entire process goes smoothly. Please include this method of contact in the description of your audition.
5. Be Respectful - Be respectful of other actors who have taken the time to audition for these roles. If any animosity is discovered towards another potential cast member - hate comments or messages, negative comments regarding auditions, name calling, etc. - the offending party will be banned from participating in any future projects of mine and their role will be recast.

The Narrator is the one who will be providing the listeners with a clearer picture of the action of the story. You will be describing surroundings, appearances, etc while still keeping the audience engaged with what is going on with the characters. Anyone, regardless of age or gender, can audition for this role.

But that’s not the stage of life that changes a person. It’s only after they’ve supposedly achieved their dreams that the real work begins. And so, this is where the story of Lana Travis begins.
And as the second set of footsteps left Chief Strauss’s office with a promise to return come morning, the blonde couldn’t help but sigh as she sank into her office chair once again. Two new agents meant a lot of paperwork. She just hoped that it was worth the trouble.

The cold, calculated section chief of the BAU. Is not a field agent, but is happy not to be. She has a grudge against Hotch and wants him gone, and plans to use anyone or anything she can in order to make that happen.
The actor playing her should be a middle aged woman.Something close to Jayne Atkinson's portrayal in the original series is preferred, but solid acting will beat out an impression every time.. For reference, please consult Season 3 Episode 6, or the scene at the beginning of this video.

The senior agent who joins the team following Gideon's retirement from the BAU. Starts out egotistical and self centered, but slowly learns to work well with the team.
Looking for a middle aged man to play the role. Something close to Joe Mantegna's portrayal in the original series is preferred, but solid acting will beat out an impression every time. For a voice/character reference, please see Season 3 Episode 6 of the series or the first scene of this video.

The BAU is a man down. I’m offering to help.
That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be someone there to fix the newbie’s mistakes. Because she will make them, and we both know it.
I’m not looking for anyone’s permission here.
Looking for an assistant director to help bring the best possible performance out of the actors participating in the project. The director is also portraying one of the main characters, and would prefer to have an additional director to oversee the scenes she is involved in so that she can focus on playing the character during those scenes.
