Temporary Idol Group for an April Fool's Day Project

Overview

For April Fool’s Day this year, I’m doing a very elaborate joke for my gaming Youtube channel. I’ll drop a fake game trailer for a game I’m allegedly developing that’s essentially parodying Love Live. And since it involves a fake idol group getting back together, I need singers to make up the fake idol group, Wisteria Tour. The group concept is city pop.

The whole project, however, isn’t just the one and done trailer. The trailer is a part of it, but since this song took a while to write, I’d also like to have a “digital album release” in the way of a Youtube playlist with a lyric/audio version of the title track as well as a solo version of the title track from every character. That means it will be a total of 16 videos (I’ll be making them dw).

Videos Details

• the trailer is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a fake trailer for the game, showcasing the city pop title track. Everyone’s vocals will be on this version of the song (I haven’t named the title track yet, so I’ll be referring to it as ot14 Title Track). This video will be monetized by me.

• the lyric/line distribution video will be done in the style of Kpop lyric videos, with the audio and lyrics of the ot14 Title Track. This video will not be monetized.

• the character’s solo versions. These will be uploaded by you to your own Youtube channels so you can earn ad revenue from them (please see compensation below for more details). The videos will essentially be like lyric videos and I’ll make these for you. These will be monetized by you.

• I will be taking care of song mixing and making all the videos, so all you have to worry about is singing and uploading your solo version at the right time.

• we will actually be releasing everything just a little bit before April Fool’s just to mess with people more. Our posting date will be March 29th at noon Pacific Time.

Compensation

• Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to split up earnings on music sites. I make about 10 cents per videos from ads and you all would make far more money by simply selling copies of your solo version and getting ad revenue by having it on your own Youtube channel. This is why we’re having the digital release be a Youtube playlist: so everyone can get money from ads since I can’t feasibly split up earnings for everyone. All the revenue from people listening to your solo version or buying it will go directly to you.

• By being a part of this project, you are earning co-ownership of the song (albeit with some restrictions). 

• You are free and encouraged to sell your solo version on whatever platforms you like. You may also perform it live if you so wish. I will never ask for any royalties or money; all money earned from your solo version is yours. You owe me nothing for the song or for me mixing it. My only stipulations are:

• you cannot give song rights to someone else.

• you can’t claim credit for the song.

• you cannot force any other member of this project to take down their covers. We are sharing this song together. 

• you cannot distribute the instrumental.

• In the case of not having a Youtube channel or you don’t want to have it on your channel, I’ll upload the video for you and turn monetization off. I’ll link whatever kind of monetary platform(s) you have in the description with a note for listeners to please donate/give money/etc. But I would really suggest just making a channel so when that channel gets monetized, you’re set to go on earning money from the song.

• You are also more than welcome to have the video be unlisted on your channel so it’s only available via the playlist I’ll make.

• Should something happen and the solo version video gets deleted from your channel/you delete your Youtube channel, I will upload the video and turn monetization off. I will link your monetary platforms in the description so even if the video is down on your end, you can still potentially earn money from it.
