The Amazing Spider-Man: The Audio Drama — S1E1 // Background & Cameos
Project Overview
Days after the death of his Uncle Ben, sixteen-year-old Peter Parker must figure out what to do with the ‘great power’ he was given after being bitten by a radioactive spider. At the same, Peter must deal with his wallflower status and bullies at Midtown High, the Daily Bugle, a newspaper company that is giving his alter-ego “Spider-Man” a bad reputation, and finally, a mysterious villain known as the Chameleon.
This casting call is for the background characters and character cameos in the series’ first episode! There are three more Casting Call pages up and open for "Main & Side", "Antagonists & Recurring" as well as "Miscellaneous" characters!
A Groovy Show Productions' “The Amazing Spider-Man” is an Audio Drama consisting of nineteen episodes based on "Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1" that uses the timeline and history of the comic as a stepping-off point and storytelling technique. With the first season going over the early issues of the 1960s along with Spidey's debut in Amazing Fantasy no. 15. Witness a modern retelling of these classic Spider-Man stories given to us decades ago by Marvel Comics!
Created, produced, and written by Jasper Webb.

ROLE RETURN STATUS:
IT WOULD BE NICE IF WE COULD HAVE YOU BACK FOR FUTURE EPISODES, EITHER USING THE SAME VOICE OR CHANGED TO SOUND DIFFERENT, JUST TO MAKE THE BACKGROUND CITY AND CHARACTERS FEEL FLESHED OUT IN A WAY! THIS WAY, WE MAY NOT HAVE TO CREATE THIS "VARIOUS CITIZENS" ROLE ON EVERY FUTURE INDIVIDUAL EPISODE CASTING CALL!!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This role is basically for background characters/voices we hear that do not really have a name in the script. In Episode One, this can range from bystanders on the street, people in the audience at the Spider-Man television performance, hot-dog vendors, newspaper sellers, taxi drivers/riders, ESSENTIALLY any background character who has a New York accent that we hear in the first episode and the series!

You wanna talk about traffic? Yeah, the Fantastic Four fought Mole Man down on Main Street yesterday... was a freakin' nightmare t' get through.
(SAY SOMETHING YOU'D THINK THAT SOMEONE BORN AND RAISED IN NEW YORK WOULD SAY!!)
Hey, hey, look up there! It's Spidey! Never seen 'em in person. Y'know, Jameson calls him a menace, but I don't listen to the Bugle's crap. I think he's just like you and me, helping out the city he loves.

This role is basically for background characters/voices we hear that do not really have a name in the script. In Episode One, this can range from bystanders on the street, people in the audience at the Spider-Man television performance, people in Central Park, tourists, people who Spider-Man saves... JUST any background character that isn't a NATIVE New Yorker(someone with a New York accent), a police officer, newscaster, or military personnel that we hear in the first episode and later in the series!

The "New York Tourist Guide" book never warned you that someone like Thor would just... (IMITATE A WHOOSHING NOISE) ...fly past right above you while you're walking down the street.
(SAY SOMETHING YOU THINK SOMEONE WHO IS NOT FROM NEW YORK/A TOURIST WOULD SAY!!!)
Went to a Broadway show a few days ago and while we were inside, we missed Spider-Man taking down some "hunter" guy. First off, you'd think they'd stop the show for that. Second, that sounds awesome and I can't believe I missed that.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF WE COULD HAVE YOU BACK FOR FUTURE EPISODES, EITHER USING THE SAME VOICE OR CHANGED TO SOUND DIFFERENT, JUST TO MAKE THE BACKGROUND CITY AND CHARACTERS FEEL FLESHED OUT IN A WAY! THIS WAY, WE MAY NOT HAVE TO CREATE THIS "VARIOUS POLICE OFFICERS" ROLE ON EVERY FUTURE INDIVIDUAL EPISODE CASTING CALL!!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This role is for the various types of police officers that we hear in the series. This one is JUST for the police officers, due to the fact that hospital staff, firefighters, and other first responders will have a "VARIOUS" casting call role in later episodes once Spider-Man will be communicating with them at scenes of crimes. But for now, in Episode One, they show up near the end of the episode to try and arrest the Chameleon before he attempts an escape.

(ROOKIE OFFICER) I got a lead on a masked vigilante runnin’ around Hell’s Kitchen… calling himself Daredevil. I swear, this city REALLY never sleeps.
(GIVE A LINE THAT YOU THINK THAT A POLICE OFFICER FROM NEW YORK CITY IN THE MARVEL COMICS UNIVERSE WOULD SAY!!)
(SEASONED OFFICER) Our “friendly neighborhood” Spider-Man swung by and scooped these guys up… one of us really needs to tell that guy that we’ve got these guys covered.

THIS WAY, WE MAY NOT HAVE TO CREATE THIS "VARIOUS NEWS PERSONALITIES/NEWSCASTERS" ROLE ON EVERY FUTURE INDIVIDUAL EPISODE CASTING CALL!!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This role is for the background characters/voices who MAY or MAY NOT have names that we hear on the televisions or in studio interviewing characters and giving news stories for exposition and story progression. In Episode One, the newscasters/hosts interview J. Jonah Jameson near the beginning, report on Spider-Man making a visit to the Baxter Building in order to give the Chameleon his "grand" idea, as well as misinterpret the final battle between Spider-Man and Chameleon that makes Spidey out to be the bad guy as well.

In a surprising turn of events, the television performer known as “Spider-Man'' made an unexpected appearance at the Baxter Building, home to the Fantastic Four…
(SAY SOMETHING THAT A NEWS REPORTER/NEWS ANCHOR IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE WOULD PROBABLY SAY!!!)
Ant-Man and the Wasp were caught on camera dealing with a... swarm of criminal threats. (CHUCKLE) Looks like they're shrinking down to handle some big problems in the ways that they know how!

I DON'T RECALL HAVING TOO MANY EPISODES WHERE WE WOULD NEED MILITARY PERSONNEL INVOLVED, BUT WE WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH YOU BEING ABLE TO RETURN, JUST SO WE CAN HAVE MORE ON CALL SO WE WOULDN'T NEED TO ADD "VARIOUS MILITARY PERSONNEL" TO FUTURE INDIVIDUAL CASTING CALLS FOR THE SHOW!!!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This role is for the Military personnel(officers, guards and the like...) that we see in Episode One when the Chameleon sneaks into their defense installations and bases in order to do his spy-stuff and steal some missile defense plans. They also appear at the end to make statements on the news about the final battle between Spider-Man and the Chameleon.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF WE COULD HAVE YOU BACK FOR FUTURE EPISODES, IT WOULD BE PREFERRED IF WE COULD KEEP THE VOICE ACTORS FOR PETER'S TEACHERS ON CALL JUST IN CASE WE WANT TO USE THEM AGAIN TO MAKE MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL FEEL LIKE IT HAS MORE STAFF IN IT THAN JUST THE MAIN PROFESSOR, DR. MILES WARREN!
ROLE SUMMARY:
This role is for the principal of Midtown High School. His part in Episode One comes when we open with Peter Parker at school wondering how he is going to help Aunt May with her finances. Principal Davis comes up to Peter and expresses his condolences for Ben's death and proceeds to make the discussion about Peter's academics, telling Peter not to let Ben's passing ruin his studies, as he is one of Midtown's best students.

Peter, I’ve recently been made aware that your uncle passed away. I’m incredibly sorry to hear that such a thing has happened to you.
The best way to honor your Uncle Ben is to keep up with all of your academics. I'm sure that he expected some great things from you in that regard… and we do as well.
