Tales of Vesperia PS3 Mystic Artes Fandub

Project Overview

Since the PS3 version of Vesperia has never been dubbed I decided why not do a little side project of a Fandub of all the characters Mystic artes, I will be taking the role of Flynn and possibly audition for Yeager and Zagi. Rules:

Have a decent quality mic with little to no background noise, I can try and fix any background noise but I would prefer if you're mic is of good quality but it doesn't have to be a TLM.

Make sure to put a good amount of energy and enthusiasm into the characters you audition for as this is a showcase of the characters strongest attacks and these types of things require lots of energy and I highly recommend studying the characters you audition for if you don't know much about Vesperia so you can get a clearer understanding of them when auditioning.

If you are casted then I will send you the script for the video and I'll work on a deadline for everyone, but if you need more time let me know and I'll extend the deadline for you! Make sure though that you are committed to your role as I don't want people bailing out on me when they get casted.

You don't have to sound exactly like the english voice actors, they're there as a reference, if you can sound like them that's good if you can't but you can come up with a voice that's fitting go right ahead.

Finally, have fun, this is a fun little project where we get to scream and shout and have a jolly good time and I want you all to have a great time!

  • Casting has been completed!

    Congrats to everyone who has been cast, I will ask (if I don't have contacts with you already) for your Skype, Gmail, and Discord. I have the script all done so you can get started right away if your able to, I have made a discord server for everyone to join so I can easily do live direction sessions and ask for redo's and maybe get to know you guys a bit more and so you can make some new friends, I know this is probably just the mystic artes but I am up to doing more things related to the PS3 release as well as use it for future Tales projects or projects in general.   • What's Going On With The Project

    I'd like to say thank you guys for (at the time this update is being written) 210 auditions, I am impressed with some of the auditions I've listened to and I've begun compiling top contenders I have in mind for each character, I'll probably push the deadline back a bit more so I can get more auditions for some characters like Tison and some more auditions I could consider like with Estelle. I'll be making a Discord server for the project just so I can have everyone all in one place so if I need any redo's or any of you need live direction I can give it to you easier and also you can make some friends. That's all for now, I hope I'll be able to start casting soon so we can get this project :D

For Yuri I want a medium-deep to kinda deep pitch as his voice is that of a more mature young adult, he is voiced by the great Troy Baker and is 21 years old. I want to point out to anyone auditioning, with Yuri you need to veer away from the Shonen mindset for him as he isn’t the typical shonen, he’s a much more laid back and mature character, you can even see it in his delivery for his Mystic Artes where there is this sense of coolness and maturity to the way he does his Mystic Arte Lines so please remember this when you audition. Character Description: Yuri comes across as sarcastic and cynical, possibly due to the way the nobility treated the people of the Lower Quarter. He seems to enjoy teasing others, especially Karol and Rita Mordio, although he does develop a strong bond of friendship with the former, becoming something of an older brother figure. Unlike many main characters in the Tales series, Yuri has a more fully-formed personality due to his matured age. He is an emphatic young man who prefers to solve smaller problems from individuals rather than the larger, more political ones. It ultimately manifests in a willingness to save others, even if it means risking his life

For this beefy hunk of no items ever give him a very deep and threatening voice cause your using freaking items and that does not fly with him! I believe he is voiced by J.B Blanc.


Character Description: Barbatos is a ruthless warrior who would do anything to get what he wanted. He personifies many of the evil traits shown by humans, such as betrayal, deceit, and brutality, showing that he will resort to underhanded tactics to accomplish his goals. But in the end, he is someone who wants to be remembered in history as a heroic figure, although his means of trying to achieve that goal show his incapacity of understanding what it means to be a hero. He is bound by an extreme level of pride and superiority, and he holds great resentment for those who could stand against him in battle, most notably Dymlos and Kyle. He also has a habit of adding a lot of flair to his actions, especially the quotes for his spells always being accompanied by a form of adjective and/or adverb.

Character Description: During the previous Emperor's reign, Alexei entered and won a tournament. As a result, he was accepted into the Imperial Knights as reward. As Alexei climbed in ranks, he became well-known and revered for his ideals, gaining the respect and support of many of his fellow knights, including Schwann Oltorain, as well as the townspeople. In his spare time, he researched vigorously for ways he could achieve his goals, and at some point, discovered the true nature of the blastia, as well as the nature of the imperial family, and sought a way to use the information to help with his dream. However, as time passed, Alexei grew more and more weary with the injustices of the world, and he became more obsessed with changing things. Eventually, he began to believe that the only way to change things was to purge the world of its "scum", and decided that the only way to do so was to unleash calamity into the world. As he made his plans, he gained followers and continued his research. He also began to experiment with blastia, one such experiment being the usage of blastia to support the life of those who would otherwise be dead.

Character Description: Before the events of the story, Duke was an important figure in the Great War, in which humans and the Entelexeia fought. He fought alongside the Entelexeia Elucifer so that humans and the creatures could live together in peace. Although they were victorious, some humans no longer trusted the Entelexeia and executed Elucifer. After this betrayal, Duke lost all faith in humanity and cut all ties with them. He only appeared when he felt it was necessary for the protection of the world and the Entelexeia.

For Clint I want a sort of confident leader type of voice in the deep range. He is voiced by Travis Willingham.


Character Description: Like many members of the Hunting Blades, Clint bears a personal grudge against monsters. In Caer Bocram, Yuri Lowell and the group spot Clint and and his guild members battling a large monster, which Clint quickly dispatches easily with a Fatal Strike, unknowingly teaching the company how do perform it themselves from that point. Later, when he attempts to slay Gusios, it is revealed that Clint's family was killed by Entelexeia during the Great War ten years prior to the events of the story. Due to the Entelexeia's appearance, he does not differentiate them from ordinary monsters.

For Zagi I want a really insane and disturbing type of voice, I'd say around the medium-high range since when he becomes fully insane his voice is higher and he has a demonic filter so please add that to you're audition. Character Description: Zagi is an elite assassin Yuri Lowell meets early in the story. Deluded and somewhat insane, the party fights him a total of five times in the story. He is first encountered in Zaphias's imperial castle, where he mistakes Yuri for Flynn Scifo, though it is never revealed who sent Zagi to assassinate Flynn initially. He is defeated by Yuri, who also protects his new ally Estelle from Zagi's attacks. This defeat leads Zagi to develop a personal grudge against Yuri throughout the story. Zagi battles Yuri and his allies again on the ship leaving Capua Nor, incidentally preventing the party from pursuing Ragou and Barbos, who escape on an emergency boat.

Character Description: Yeager is the leader of the Leviathan's Claw guild, which specializes in selling weapons and hoplon blastia. He is also a father figure to his orphan underlings, Gauche and Droite. Sly and scheming, Yeager often manipulates events to meet his own goals and frequently tosses moral concerns aside for the sake of profit.

Character Description: As Raven, he is a slightly odd individual, easily recognized by his lazy, slang-ridden speech and overly friendly, nonchalant demeanor. He is talkative, and is prone to teasing and melodramatic complaining, which easily grates on the nerves of others. This sometimes subjects him to brutal reprimanding. He's also kind, hardly ever showing anger to anyone but his enemies, and he serves to try and maintain a lighthearted atmosphere in the group when things get tense. He does, however, display occasional perverted behavior, cracking jokes with innuendo and lightly flirting with the females of the group, as well as with several women they may come across on their journey. The behavior is usually not taken well by his peers. Oddly enough he avoids seriously involving himself with women and will gently turn them down if ever any interest beyond a casual attraction seems to be directed at him.

Character Description: Estelle is an 18-year-old noblewoman who has spent all of her life growing up in Zaphias Castle. Due to her restrictive upbringing, she has gained most of her worldly knowledge through books. As a result she has developed a love for reading, and can recite various passages from heart. Proficient in healing artes, she was also trained in swordsmanship by a famed Imperial knight, Drake Dropwart. Despite her abundance of trivial knowledge, she has never left the castle and is sorely lacking in real-world experience. This becomes evident in her difficulty making critical decisions. Good-natured and selfless, she often puts others before herself. She uses her healing artes to help others whenever she can, and she is always kind to complete strangers.

Character Description: Patty has fair skin, blue eyes, and blond hair braided into two ponytails tied with purple ribbons. Her attire is reminiscent of a ship's captain, consisting of a pirate's hat, a matching coat, and boots. She also wears a pair of binoculars around her neck. Patty is a young girl with no memories of her past, and she is looking for the Maris Stella, hoping to recover them. At first she has a very childish personality, making jokes and irritating characters, but after she finds out about her past and her long lost friend, Seifer, she gains a more serious attitude.

For Tyson have a very angry rasp to your voice that's in the medium-medium deep range. He is voiced by David Vincent.

Character Description: Like Clint, Tison is obsessive about monster hunting. He views all monsters to be evil, including the Entelexeia. He often resorts to force with the reasoning that anyone helping a monster "doesn't deserve to be considered a person", such as when he and Nan fought against Judith and the rest of the group in an attempt to kill Ba'ul. His hood usually covers his head and the majority of his face, even in battle. An exception to this is when he is fought in the Nordopolica Coliseum during the "80-Man Melee", where his hood is completely removed. His mystic arte cut-in is also modified to reveal his face during this time.

Character Description: In practice, Karol is one of the comic relief characters when the brave front he puts up clashes with his cowardly actions. He is also frequently abused by Rita for various comments, and he has a habit of attempting to name things with overly long and childish names. Due to his youth, however, he finds himself fleeing more than not and is unable to take some of the harsher truths in the world, but he learns over the course of the game to have confidence in himself and his guild, though he retains his childlike exuberance. By running Brave Vesperia, he learns what it means to not only be in a guild, he also learns what it means to be a leader of one. Because of his former affiliate with Hunting Blades, he is knowledgeable about monsters and their behaviors.

Character Description: Gauche is a minor antagonist in Tales of Vesperia, commonly seen along with her sister Droite. Gauche and Droite are loyal members of the Leviathan's Claw guild, as well as the adopted daughters of Yeager, leader of the guild. Gauche is seen as a distinct contrast to her sister, as she takes a serious and grave approach to most situations, commonly disregarding Droite's light-hearted and enthusiastic approach to life.

Character Description: Droite is a minor antaogonist in Tales of Vesperia, commonly seen along with her sister Gauche. Droite and Gauche are loyal members of the Leviathan's Claw guild, as well as the adopted daughters of Yeager, leader of the guild. Droite is cheerful, silly, and childish, a sharp contrast to her serious-minded, duty-oriented twin.

Character Description: Judith is one of the more mysterious, mature, and rational members of the group. She is gentle-looking, perceptive, composed, receptive, and often acts without explaining her actions, frequently failing to gain an impression of the current situation. She is also decisive, persistent, witty, somewhat impulsive, and quite bold, preferring to wear revealing outfits. Judith is also very flirtatious and enjoys teasing the male members of the group, often making suggestive comments about "showing a little more" of her already impressive figure. Estelle has humorously shown to be jealous of Judith's physique and power over men she possesses. Judith has stated she is "not a very good liar", and this fact is evident in several conversations. She also enjoys fighting a great deal and becomes excited at the prospect of a battle, almost to an extent that it unnerves other members of the group, and she is disappointed when unable to fight.

For Dhaos have an evil medium deep type of voice, I know he's voiced by Patrick Seitz in Tales of Phantasia The Animation.

Character Description: Dhaos can come across as evil and megalomaniacal, but that is the result of his cold ruthlessness. He has his goals and would do anything to achieve them, with the ends justifying the means. At times, though, he can seem almost kind to the Great Tree Yggdrasill and Martel. In the past, before he was taken over by his anger and rage, he was a kind ruler who worried for his people, and he returns to this same personality after his death.

For Repede have a very badass type of voice, I want Repede to talk for some fun.

Character Description: Repede is a dog with dark blue and gray fur. He has green eyes, light blue fur extending behind his head, pointed ears and a sickle tail. As a puppy, he is very small. Fur above his paws resembles rings. Some of the fur sticks out from his chest.

As an adult, Repede has grown significantly larger. The "rings" above his paws are now larger with a tint brown fur sticking out from the back. Because of an incident, Repede has a large scar from his forehead extending to near his mouth from the left side of his face. Repede now dons several accessories: a leather sash around his chest that carries a scabbard to hold his dagger, a metal chain around his neck, and a brass ring at the base of his tail. Repede usually carries Niren's pipe in his mouth when he is not in a battle.

Repede is friendly around those he trusts and children who like dogs, but dislikes it when approached by people he does not know. It is an ongoing event in which the heroine Estelle wants to pet Repede, but is rejected by him. Repede also carries a chain from his previous owner and uses his previous owner's bodhi blastia for combat.

For Shizel have a very evil, raspy, and deep female voice. I don't know her English VA.

Character Description: Shizel wears a large, flowing dress which greatly emphasizes her chest due to its low neckline, and her hair is formed into two angled cones from which a veil is hung behind her. Her Elara is featured prominently upon her forehead. In respect to her deceased beloved, she wears dark colors to emphasize her sorrow. Upon her transformation due to Nereid's complete possession of her body, Shizel's body gains draconic wings while her entire body bulges with large muscles, and her forearms transform into clawed appendages. A shadow of Nereid itself hovers above her body, appearing similar to a large sea crustacean with four small arms extending from its torso, and two thicker clawed arms which project from its lower body.

Shizel is a woman with a vengeful demeanor, seeing the world as if it is the source of cruelty and evil. Having gone mad due to Nereid's influence, she remains determined enough to see the completion of what she interprets to be Balir's dream of the ideal world beyond material life. To this end, she devotes herself to the Dark Aurora, focusing all of her efforts into completing its power even at the expense of losing herself to the will of the dark void, as the void itself is what she seeks to bring into reality, as Vatenkeist had been before Seyfert created Eternia.

Character Description: Contrary to what her young age would make one believe, Rita is actually one of the most intelligent mages of Aspio, the city of scholars. Despite this, she was treated as a weirdo due to her obsession with research and with blastia. When Yuri Lowell first inquired about the famed mage, Mordio, Aspio residents were in awe as to "why he wanted to see that weirdo." It is explained later in the game that the reason for her obsession was that her research was all she had due to her status as an orphan and her lack of any friends or family.

  • (Like an incantation) "Oh power that lies at the root of all creation, oh memory enshrined in ages past, here my call and arise before me! ANCIENT CATASTROPHE!!!! This is the fruit of my research."

  • (Enthusiastic) "I who stand in the full light of the heavens, call upon thee who openeth the gates of hell, come forth divine lightning! This ends now! INDIGNATION!!!! *Yawn*”

For Kratos I want a wise, deep adult kind of voice if that makes any sense. He is voiced by Cam Clarke.


Character Description: Kratos is displayed as a cold and heartless mercenary early in the game, though is also an expert in swordsmanship, a fact that makes Lloyd angry. The only thing he has in mind at the beginning of the game is to protect Colette, as that is what he is assigned to do. However, as the journey progresses, Kratos begins to open up a little, giving hints about a past where he made a terrible mistake. Throughout the early stages of the story, Kratos displays outstanding knowledge of the ancient world, raising Raine's suspicions.

For Seifer I want a voice that’s in the lower range. Now he has no English VA so you have more free reign with doing a voice. I would say he has a deep and slightly rough kinda voice (use the Japanese VA as a reference if you want). Character Description: Seifer, along with Patty, is part of the Siren's Fang pirate guild led by Aifread. The guild disbanded after the "Black Hope" incident, in which the crew were turned into monsters due to Alexei Dinoia's actions. Seifer survived the incident and gradually turned into a demon thereafter, but prior to his transformation, he delivered Aifread, who reverted to a child due to the incident, to land, while he himself fled to the sea to die. By the events of the story, he has fully transformed into a demon and is fought by the protagonists.
