Supercell - Sayonara Memories (Band Cover from scratch)

Supercell - Sayonara Memories (Band Cover from scratch)

Project Overview

Females only audition! Due to the song's context, sorry males, no hard feelings (* >ω<) .

Hello!

I'm planning to do a full cover of Supercell - Sayonara Memories (a song that's had a space in my heart for a long time ;_;) as a test to show how I can utilize all of my instruments that I have finally gathered together! Also, It'll help me mix/master for fun! This is a first time that I will be trying to record from scratch.

Here's a link to my Youtube video page

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG0XB6wvAt1lxckJBcpplLQ

The format of the cover will be laid out how you see my past covers. I'll be recording all of my parts in addition to the video (I feel like seeing someone play/sing is really cool). You will NOT have to record yourself on video, but if you would like, that'd be wonderful! You can also disguise yourself if you want to(face mask, costume, etc), in order to record and disguise yourself!

It's commonly used for Japan covers to record audio first, and then record video afterwards while wearing a face-mask and just lipsyncing (I'm pretty sure if you sing through a face-mask it wouldn't sound good xD).

My role in the song will be mixing/mastering/and playing every instruments. My keyboard will be played as a piano, a drum, and possibly violin (due to the fact that violin is extremely difficult and an electric drumset is another $1,300 that I cannot afford now!).

Here's one "band" cover I attempted with another vocalist. Sadly with the release of YouTube Red, lots of things on my channel got taken down along with this cover so I had to uploaded it here for reference (^ ^*)/:

It doesn't sound great because I had to mix out the backing track in order for my instruments to kick in (I was only playing acoustic, bass, and guitar), so it was a really strange cover xD.

This project is fairly big for me considering this is the first time I'll be bringing every instrument together and I want it to sound as good as possible. I'll also have to translate the chord of the song and my piano and bass skills aren't incredible right now, but I believe I can manage. As for the time of completion, I'm not sure, considering it's a lot of work for me on top of managing my school time.

The audition will run for a fairly long time, definitely shorter than the deadline date though.

What I expect from you:

For microphone I expect a good microphone with a pre-amp with a pop-filter. For example, I have a MXLV67G microphone connected to a Scarlette Solo pre-amp. When you audition, please include the name of the microphone you're using! If you're unsure you have a "good" microphone, please audition and also include the name of your microphone. Please keep in mind that I ask for a good microphone to make mixing simplier for me.

Please Read:

I would prefer if the song is done in Japanese (you must be able to sing fairly well in the language. I'm not asking you to be professional in Japanese, I just simply ask that you can sing in accent with Japanese).

I can accept English vocals, but keep in mind I'll prioritize Japanese (unless you've shown me that you can sing it in English really well!). If you use any translation from somewhere else you'll have to provide me the source so I can credit accordingly! You may edit the lyrics as you want if you feel like it would flow more smoothly with the song.

Please keep in mind that I'm not a vocalist in anyway and I will use my ear to judge what I prefer. If I tell you anything about your voice or feel that it may not fit, please keep in mind I'm not a professional in anyway. So if you feel the need for criticism, then do not take my advice to heart!

You should also know how to harmonize, like the original song!

For the vocal range, I would prefer a range similar to the original song!

I will try my best to monitor any auditions that come in, but please give me time to reply to comments. My schedule for school is hectic and I would like my replies to be considerate/thoughtful to everyone rather than rushed.

--------------

I ask that you prioritize your school, family, and personal life above this! I'm very understanding and will never push you to complete this project if you feel like your unable to for any reason.

I may have left out some information, if so, please ask me questions! I'm easygoing so I don't mind!

Sing 20 seconds of any part of the song you would like!

Singing the chorus is a good idea!

Backing track if you need it (it'll help me judge notes that are on-key too rather than scrambling between the original singing and your singing!).

Keep in mind that I will assume your audition is your best singing ability.

For the exception to the Japanese language, please read the description above labeled "Please Read"

I will no longer be giving feedback unless you ask for it in your audition, school is hectic for me right now and it takes a bit of time for me to consider auditions!

Reminder:

- Microphone quality is extremely important (I would urge you to just audition since not many people know if their microphone is good or not; pre-amp also plays a factor in quality).

- Singing with emotion is very important, something that I can't explain but you have to feel it (don't force yourself or it'll sound unnatural!).

- Being on-time and on-key is very important. I'll notice in a heartbeat if it sounds off-key or off-beat (I've been listening to this song for 3 years and singing horribly with it in my car when it comes up). I'm perfectly fine with a few mistakes though!.

- Oh and also when we actually do the cover, you won't have to sing perfectly in one take. You can do seperate recordings for each section of the song until you feel it sounds perfect! ( ^ω^)/

- Also, please disable any effects, such as reverb.
