[CLOSED] Streamway Project: Sci-Fi Mystery Podcast Needs VA's!

Project Overview

Streamway Project

Hello! This is the Streamway Project, a sci-fi mystery podcast / audio drama set 200 years in the future on an terraformed planet named Shaulm, far from the wings of the Coalition of Interstellar Communities, where aliens, humans, and synthetic life forms make do with what they can surrounded by monstrous wildlife and even more dangerous criminals. It's one part cop drama, one part Star Trek warp slang, and all parts juicy detailed mystery. The fun begins 1 year ago when a potentially time travelling spaceship crash lands into the potato farm of one Annias McCormix. He finds no survivors beyond an alien child that in a fit of fear renders him unconscious.

The police arrive and begin an investigation, but it is not until a distant alien race called the Chroniclers calls upon the Coalition demanding access to the case does the mystery begin. Apparently, one of their children has been missing for years, and the moment the unknown vessel crashed, they received a signal coming from the child, and originating from the planet.

Now, the Synthetic-life-form Chief of Police Maxios, Officer Corra Laminen, and Annias have to work alongside a self important Chronicler named Secluma as they try to locate the missing child, learn what they can about the crashed ship, and not cause a political incident as small town attitude butts up against the prying eyes of Secluma. Meanwhile, a dangerous criminal lurks in the shadows, plotting the destruction of Maxios.

Corra Laminen

Human female, works as a police officer for the Streamway police department. Currently gunning for the position of Chief of Police, though still somewhat young. She is in a good position with the current Chief of Police. Corra however, keeps a very important secret from the other members of the cast relating to the nature of the crashed spaceship. She believes she is doing the right thing by keeping her secret.

Corra is between 21-25 years old, and can work with any type or ethnicity of feminine voice. She has a major role in the show but is not introduced with speaking lines until Episode 2.

Audition lines for Corra, organized as parts of conversations she has with other characters.

1.Shakespeare

Corra:

“Right, sorry. You know, I’ve always liked how you answer weird questions like that.”

Maxios

“Like every other creature in the universe, I enjoy talking about myself.”

Corra:

“Just, not when you suddenly go shakespeare on me”

Maxios:

“My language file must be more compromised than I thought, I do not understand the 7th word in your previous sentence.”

Corra: (confused)

“Uh. Shakespeare?”

Maxios:

“Yes. That.”

Corra:

“I’ll have to tell you some other time sir.”

2. Rusty Farm Tools

Maxios

“Thank you for coming in on your day off Officer.”

Corra

“Believe me chief, this is worth it.”

Maxios

“Hm. Let us review what we know about the Postcard Killer, and the murder of Chief Ressif Thorq.”

Corra

“I’m sorry, but before this, can we please talk about the Chronicler.”

Maxios

“What is there to talk about?”

Corra

“What’s his problem?”

Maxios:

“He is as far as I can tell, a very tenacious albeit impatient sort.”

Corra:

“Sure, but he can’t be going around cutting people with rusty farm tools while we’re working with him. That's not tenacious, I'm tenacious, that's just insane.”

Sukon Daedris

Sukon (pronounced Sue-Con) is a mercenary hired by a serial killer named Bob Towers in Streamway Colony. Towers pays very well, so Sukon has been in the colony long enough to be a neighbor to Annias McCormix, as part of his cover. Mr. Daedris is an alien referred to as an Unulipthian, which are in the simplest of terms, Adonis's and Amazons that have the features of Orcs. (not to be confused with warhammer40k orks). Sukon does his job for the money, the challenging work and method focused work of contract killing for a notorious serial killer is just a coincidental bonus. He couldn't care less about the inhabitants of Streamway, and if someone were to pay him more than Bob Towers, he'd change his tune as fast as a million Coalition credits could be sent to his bank account.

Sukon will at least twice in the show switch between his normal voice, the voice of a mercenary killer, and: a painfully cheesy, friendly, stereotypical neighbor voice to conceal his identity.

Sukon was originally written as a male, but his sex/gender/whatever isn't an important aspect of the function he serves in the story, so adapting him to a her isn't an issue.  He plays a major role in the first season, and may or may not be relevant in the second season, though as the story is written now, it would not be wise for him to stick around.

Sukon Test Lines

1. Neighbor

Sukon:

“Hi Annias!”

Annias:

“Oh, Hey Mr. Daedris.”

Sukon:

“How’s it going? Early start for the day ey?”

Annias:

“Yeah, I got called into the station. I’m alright, mostly just tired.”

Sukon:

“Oh? More stuff about that ship? Wasn't that a whole year ago?”

Annias:

“The Chronicler showed up early (yawns), that's why I’m in town.”

Sukon:

“The Chronicler?"

Annias:

“Real piece of work that guy. Acts like he owns the place. Well, anyways, nice talking with you Mr. Daedriss”

Sukon:

“Oh please, you can call me Sukon, you’re an adult now, you know that actually reminds of a story *adlib story no one asked for*

2. Mercenary Killer Voice

Sukon: (Pulling out his comm unit, still using neighbor voice)

“This is Sukon- (clear his throat, goes into mercenary killer voice) Sukon. The Chronicler is here early, please advise.”

Unintelligible voice and static

Sukon:

“McCormix told me he’s here, we shouldn’t advance the plan.”

More unintelligible voice and static

Sukon:

“I’m not prepped to eliminate the Synth yet, I’ll need more time!”

Unintelligible voice is adamant and angry

Sukon:

(Sighs) “Alright. I’ll meet you in 20 minutes.”

  • “Oh please, you can call me Sukon, you’re an adult now, you know that actually reminds of a story *adlib story no one asked for*

  • “This is Sukon- (clear his throat, goes into mercenary killer voice) Sukon. The Chronicler is here early, please advise.”

Bob Towers A.K.A "The Postcard Killer"Yes you read that correctly. Bob Towers is the notorious serial killer responsible for the death of Streamway's previous chief of police before Maxios. With a hatred for authority (except for his own of course) and seemingly endless funds, Bob's kills are always marked with a postcard for an old Earth state named Michigan. He only has postcards for Michigan, so after the media on the planet got a hold of the story of his first murder in Streamway, multiple names for him began to circulate. The police refer to him as The Postcard Killer, but the most common name for him among colonists is Michigan Man. He is now something of a tall tale in the colonies on the planet. He loves the nicknames he's been given, no matter how ridiculous.

Bob Towers has kept his identity a secret for years and is now planning the death of Maxios. How he's going to permanently "kill" a Synth is an issue he's sure he'll be able to overcome. Bob plays a major role in the story, but his number of actual spoken lines is relatively minor compared to the other main characters. He is human, male, and can be of any ethnicity, Detroit accent unnecessary. We would prefer if Bob were to sound middle aged or older.

Bob Towers / Michigan Man Test Lines

1. Likewise

Michigan Man: (Sighs)

“I don’t consider you a stupid person Mr. Daedris. So why do you keep trying to prove me wrong?”

Sukon: (sarcasm)

“I am really going to miss our banter.”

Michigan Man:

“Likewise.”

2. Paid You For

Michigan Man:

“Just make sure the walking gearbox’s bimbo and monster of an officer are taken care of before they can do anything to help him. WITHOUT killing either of them. I want this focused, one spotlight, one kill in the extranet headlines. Don’t be sloppy.”

Sukon:

“Yeah, this is great, assuming Beauty and the Beast actually show up with the Synth. But what about the Chronicler?”

Michigan Man:

“You let me worry about them. Just do what I paid you for.”

  • “I don’t consider you a stupid person Mr. Daedris. So why do you keep trying to prove me wrong?”
