Strays of New York (An Oliver & Company Fan Project)
Project Overview
If you're a New Yorker, specifically a New Yorker of the canine variety, then you've probably heard about Dodger and his pals, about everything that went down with that Sykes creep and that cat Oliver. Right? Right, yeah so this ain't about him. This, my friends, is about a ragtag bunch of dogs known as The Strays and the adventures they go on. What? You didn't think there was only one dog group in the big apple, did ya?
Strays of New York is an indie animated series set in the universe of the 1988 animated Disney film, 'Oliver & Company.'
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for fun, kind, and easy-to-work-with voice actors who have clear-sounding mics that capture their voice with minimal background noise. Maximum of 3 takes per line. Improv is welcome and encouraged. Open ethnicity, POC actors highly encouraged to audition.

Ace is a street-smart mutt with enough confidence to power all of New York City. He's the unofficial leader of the gang and believes every problem can be solved with a clever plan. Unfortunately, many of his plans are terrible. Despite his overconfidence, Ace genuinely cares about his friends and would do anything for them.

[Cocky] Heh trust me, I got this. Have I ever steered you wrong? Except for that time...and that time...okay if we ignore every time my ideas have COMPLETELY blown up in my face...have I ever steered you wrong?
[Annoyed] Okay, yeah the plan failed. Hammer it in further, why don't ya? I don't think Manhattan got the hint yet.
[Stubborn and Determined] Nuh uh, no way. Nobody gets left behind. That's not how this pack works. We don't abandon one of our own, okay? Just gimme a sec, I'll come up with something- HA! Didn't even need a sec, I've already got it.
Luna is an adventurous husky mix who lives for excitement. She loves exploring new places and diving headfirst into trouble. Brave, impulsive, and endlessly curious, she's always looking for the next adventure.

[Excited] You know what's on the other side of that fence, Ace? Adventure (Pants) Thrills (Pants) Excitement! (Pants) I'M GOING FOR IT!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
[Nonchalant] Oh pffft come onnnn, what's the worst that could happennnn why do I feel a cold chill all of the sudden? (Beat) Eh well, probably nothing.
[Ecstatic] NO TIME TO PANIC! Jump first, panic later! And by later, i mean never because WHO HAS TIME TO PANIC WHEN YOU'RE TOO BUSY FEELING ALIVE?!?!
Benny is a lovable terrier who somehow turns every simple task into a catastrophe. Clumsy, optimistic, and endlessly sincere, Benny is always trying his best, even when everything goes horribly wrong.

[Nervous] Umm okay I can explain! ...Actually, wait, no, I can't. Uhhh... LOOK A SQUIRREL! (Tries to run but crashes into a wall) Ow.
Okay, so the good news is no dog got hurt. The bad news is... a lot of people did...that didn't help, did it?
[Frustrated] (Falls on his face) Oof! Dang it! Why does this always happen when I'm helping?! Actually, why does this happen to me PERIOD?! (Groans) Paws, work with me for once!
Mabel is the wise elder of the group. She's seen every corner of New York and has a story for every occasion. Whether those stories are completely true is another matter entirely.

This reminds me of the Great Hot Dog Incident of '81. (Sighs) I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a sunny day which was rare for New York back in the day, and the hot dog boy Roger was out and about. Now this was a tuesday if I recall correctly and...and um...what was I saying?
[Annoyed] You know, back in my day, we respected garbage cans. They kept the city clean and thus kept the planet green. Now look at things! Litter everywhere, it's horrible! If my bite was as bad as my bark, I'd chomp the dickens out of these litterbugs.
[Unphased] Eh, I've lived through worse. Much worse. Most of it was your fault, Ace. You think my fur's this white because I'm old?
Rocket is a tiny chihuahua with the attitude of a heavyweight champion. He's fearless, loud, and always ready to throw down, even when he's hopelessly outmatched.

[Angry] LET ME AT 'EM! LET ME AT 'EM! You think just because I'm small I can't tussle with you? I'll make you wish you never messed with the Rocket!!
[Defensive] Hey! I ain't scared of nobody! Why if I could, I'd knaw the leg off of the first dogcatcher I see! Yeah, that'll show 'em for caging us up like animals! (Beat) Wait, I mean- Shut up! You know what I meant!
[Starting to get Anxious] Heh, okay um, maybe this guy's a little bigger than I expected...okay, a LOT bigger. It-It don't matter tho, he's...he's still gonna pay!
Daisy is the emotional heart of the pack. Kind, compassionate, and optimistic, she's the one who keeps the group together when tensions rise. She believes everyone deserves a second chance.

[Trying to calm things down] Woah woah woah, guys! There has got to be a better way to settle this than fighting, right? Why don't we try talking it out like civil dogs instead of getting into a biting match?
[Friendly] Sometimes all somebody needs is a friend. I mean, so what if she's a cat? Have you forgotten when Dodger took a kitten in like he was a dog? Why can't we do the same?
Yeah, that's pretty much us. We're a family. Messy, loud, weird... sometimes dangerous, yeah I'm looking at you Luna, but a family nonetheless.
