An audio adaptation of the first two chapters of CalumTraveler's fanfic series, Stargate Alternia, for The Doomed Timelines, a Homestuck fancast.
Again, we will NOT be covering the entire series, only the introduction.
If you want to audition for one of the Stargate characters, you can consider looking up clips of the original character in the Stargate Television show. We won't be looking for exact matches, merely someone who we feel appropriately captures the character. This is YOUR take on these characters, James Bond style.

The teller of our fine tale.
For years after your mother's death, which made you a SEMI ORPHAN, you've had to deal with an absent father. He's gone on adventures, and 'consulting gigs' for as long as you can remember, leaving you in the SOMEWHAT CAPABLE hands of ROXY LALONDE, your BABYSITTER.
You'd started to grow to resent his absences. But now... you're finally starting to get answers.
General West couldn't stop you now, not even if he shot you in the heart.
You tighten your grip on your BLUNDERBUSS and step into the STARGATE.
What feels both like an eternity, but also a single second later, you're stumbling forwards into the darkened, cavernous room that the PROBE and the CART had been sent into before your arrival. You feel disoriented, and cold. Gosh Darn it to Heck is it COLD.
In this tale, Jake plays the role of a budding adventurer making bold new discoveries! He starts the fic around 18, and ends it much, much older. The typical grandpa we expect from Beta Jake. If you don't feel comfortable doing an older gentleman's voice, then feel free to still audition, just give us your take on Jake across both lines.
Younger Jake: It's unlike any mineral I've ever seen in all my life. And the metal, feel the edges of it! ...
Older Jake: I've got a house I've been living in when not back home at Hauntswitch or here at base, If you like it enough, I'm considering moving you two down here full time so we can spend more time together, but I won't uproot you just to be selfish.
A Stargate Character. Catherine Langford is inquisitive and adventurous, a perfect friend for Jake. After finding the Stargate in Giza, she devotes her entire life to figuring out how it works. If you don't feel comfortable doing an older lady's voice, then feel free to still audition, just give us your take on Catherine across both lines.
Young Catherine: Excuse me. What do you think it is?

Alien?! What makes you say that?
Older Catherine: Yes, My father found it in Giza, 1928. That's where I met Mister Harley. He was just a novice rope-hand at the time!
Stargate Role. Grumpy military type. He sees his part in this whole ordeal as a suicide mission, and he's not particularly happy about it. Covers his frustration with a veneer of sarcasm and gruffness.
So, You think you've solved in two weeks what's taken nearly a century for everyone else to solve?
No taking it apart until after we can secure a connection back to Earth, Carter, So, what do you need to get us home?
Stargate Role. A young academic archaeologist with some interesting opinions on the pyramids. Laughed out of academic circles, but turns out to be just what the Stargate project needs...
So, uh. Hi. Looking at these pictures of the cover-stones, you'll see the- ah. The outer track, which has stumped a lot of people, isn't words to be translated. They're really, ah... They're actually Star Constellations.
Yeah, I just... I'll need to take a look around first and make sure I'm not entering in the wrong symbols and accidentally send us materializing inside of a sun, or ten thousand years in the past.
The young son of Jake Harley, only around 11 years old, now. He is bright for his age, however, and very interested in this strange device his father is researching.
Oo! Oo! What about the seventh point?
So are we staying here on the Base?
Stargate role. Samantha Carter is a scientist, one who knows what she's talking about. She's calm, stable, and willing to admit when she's out of her element.
Except there's only six symbols on the center cover-stone in the center, There's no seventh symbol.
If we dial the wrong address we could end up who knows where. I'm sure there's some kind of safety mechanism tied into this... Dialing Divice, but back home on Earth? It took us sixteen years and three super computers to Macgyver together a system that didn't involve us turning the gate manually. And yet...
Jake Harley's older daughter. She's inquisitive and clever, and intends to do her damnedest to figure out exactly why her father brought them all the way out here. It wasn't JUST to see this weird machine!
[Annoyed, piercing] What now?
I don't like it, PA. But... I understand. Good luck.
We'll probably take on around 3-5 of these, depending on turnout! There will also be a couple of named characters who only have one line which will be assigned to people who get this part! Please audition for this, regardless of gender, if you have the time.
If Harley's math is right, this will be our first successful experiment with the device.
[Shouting, intense] CHEVRON SIX IS HOLDING...! CHEVRON SIX IS LOCKED IN PLACE!
She should be named Joey.
