Star Wars: Duel Of The Fates - Script Reading Podcast (NEW ROLE ADDED)
Project Overview
Hi everyone. I am the co-host of a podcast called Cancelled Movie Report. We take screenplays from movies that were in production or post production - but were then cancelled - and then recreate them as a podcast.
We have previously done audio recreations for Justice League: Mortal and Gladiator 2.
This particular episode is all about the original version of Star Wars Episode 9 titled Duel of the Fates. This was written by Colin Trevorrow and the script leaked online last year.
There are some key scenes we are hoping to recreate from the original script for the project and need some big characters brought to life!
Voice Actor
Poe Dameron is a fighter pilot for the resistance. He is cocky, charming and a little rough around the edges. He is played in the films by actor Oscar Issac. We are hoping for someone who can capture his unique style and personality.
As you know, the First Order has silenced communication between all neighbouring systems. The source of the blockade is a transmission jammer deep in the First Order Capitol on Coruscant, here. So far we’ve been unable to find a weakness. No thermal exhaust port, no oscillator. In other words, they’re onto us.
Hey. Look, I know you think I’m wasted air on any mission, Master Jedi-- but the thing is, I know someone who can find the system you’re looking for. She’s a navigator, lives on Bonadan. Force sensitive, like you... Well, not exactly like you. Spice diggers used to pay her to find deposits on asteroids.
Hey. I get it. No attachments, Jedi path, I’ve read that story too. But...
(catches himself)
I’m just saying you don’t have to do this alone.
Voice Actor
Finn is a former stormtrooper. He now helps Rey and Poe as they fight against his former employer... The First Order. He is sometimes comic relief and other sections of this script he is a fighter for freedom against the evil First Order, rallying others to join the fight. He is played in the film by actor John Boyega.
My name is Finn. I bring a message from the Resistance. The First Order rules by fear. They build ships to intimidate us. Wear masks to frighten us. But they’re the ones who are scared. This is not the time to hide underground. If we take the Capitol, the galaxy will join us! Together we can strike back! Together we can resist!
That was not my fault, you need to let Raxus Prime go.
(trying to fly a spaceship, confused)
Okay, I’m going to need very specific instructions... I found the lights. I turned on the lights!

Rose is a fighter pilot in the resistance. She is quite quippy and fun. She is played by actress Kelly Marie Tran in the films
We had better odds on Raxus Prime. Clench. Everything.
Don’t rush me. I mess this up and we’ll fly right into the sun... Good for lightspeed!
I’ll lead the team, General. But I’ll let him think he’s doing it.
Voice Actor
This is older Luke Skywalker - similar to how he appeared in the film The Last Jedi. He appears throughout the script as a force ghost - guiding Rey on her path. He has the older and gruffer voice, but is more at peace than he was in The Last Jedi. He is played in the movies by actor Mark Hamill.
It’s an ancient place. From a time before the Jedi, before the Sith. Two thrones, two powerful beings. One of darkness, the other of light. Together, they brought balance.
(disbelief)
But it’s a myth. Beneath the Temple of Mortis lies a power beyond anything the Jedi have ever known. If Kylo reaches the Temple, all we’ve fought for will be lost. You have to confront him.
We’re connected. All living things. The Force surrounds us. It penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together. We are one. Bound by the Force. And we will not be broken.

The emperor is an iconic Star Wars role with a very specific speech style. He is played in the films by actor Ian McDiarmid.
Lord Vader. Young Skywalker will soon be ours, I have foreseen it. But we must prepare for the unforeseen. Should he strike me down, you will take him to the Remnicore System. There you will find Tor Valum, Master of the Sith Lord who instructed me.
Here the son of Skywalker will acquire a great ability--beyond what you could hope to command in your damaged state. With it, he will harness the untapped power of Mortis. At last we will realize--

This is another iconic Star Wars role. This is older Leia, similar to how she appeared/sounded in The Last Jedi. She was played by actress Carrie Fisher in the films.
This is General Leia Organa of the Resistance...
The time has come to forge a path to freedom. The forces of oppression have ruled our galaxy for too long. We must join together and fight. Send your fastest ships… All your warriors… Our voices will not be silenced. We can no longer live in the shadow of the First Order. We must step into the light.

C3PO. Human Cyborg Relations! He is a prissy and cowardly robot. Voiced in the films by Anthony Daniels.
Coruscant? Finally a good idea from those scrambled circuits of yours. Coruscant will be quite pleasant this time of year.
Yes, a properly refined city will be welcome after hoveling down here like a Gundark.

This character is invented for the screenplay. NOMI, a tiny alien child who appears no older than 5.
The mouth on the Jedi stops and the mind makes the picture. The Force fills the Jedi and reveals the destination.
The destination is very old. The first to know the Force. The first where the good was done. And the evil too.
here the two will meet. Drawn together by the Force. The dark side and the light. There she will make the sacrifice.

Obi-Wan appears at the end of this script as a force ghost - helping guide Rey back home. He is wise and stoic. He is played by actor Ewen McGregor in the most recent movies.
In this place, there is no such thing as death. Your true self is free of suffering. Free of pain.
There you will face a galaxy in turmoil. Pain, suffering. The loss of those you love.
You are a Jedi, Rey Solana. But you will not be the last.

This is Yoda. A classic Star Wars character. A very iconic voice! Appearing as a force ghost. Voiced in the films by Frank Oz.
Taught us much, you have. Succeeded where we have failed. Narrow was our point of view.
Co-exist, they must, as such feelings do in all of us. A choice, you must make. To return, or to remain.
But living you will be. Love, you shall.
Voice Actor
General Hux is the leader of the First Order, under only Kylo Ren. He is played in the films by actor Domhnall Gleeson. He is over the top in his cartoon villainy and revels in the big speeches about order and the supreme force of the first order etc.
Today, another conspirator stands charged with treason. Though support for his cause has all but vanished, let this day remind us of the consequences for defying our Supreme Leader.
Let Kylo and the girl fulfill the empty promises of their ancient religion. In the end they’ll destroy each other, as Jedi and Sith always have. Then we will rise.
Decimate any ships leaving the planet! Charge the primary weapon!
