Project Overview
Sporadic Phantoms is a long running sci fi multimedia project- part immersive audio drama, part ARG. It tells a modern original story with original characters- but it's also set in the world of Animorphs. Yes, the kids' book series from the 90's, but this story takes place now. Sporadic Phantoms is made by adults, for adults, and is a small indie project that is produced as professionally as possible.

Middle aged/mature woman with a commanding but personable presence. American accent.
Governor O'Brien is the governor of California in the story of Sporadic Phantoms. She makes the difficult public announcement that there is an alien invasion on Earth, and their headquarters is based in California. We hear her speech played at a rally in this episode.
Please have a decent quality microphone and record in an environment with no reverb.
Because I give direction between takes, we will record in person over Zoom- you will record on your end in Audacity or a similar program and save separate takes as wav files. The session should take about an hour.
The speech the governor gives is about half a page total.
This is a small indie project and I am able to pay $25 for this role at this time.

This is not the time for panic. It is the time for each of us to reach into our souls and pull out the courage we may not even know we possess.
I won’t beat around the bush. I have declared a state of emergency. I repeat: a state of emergency. This is not martial law. Our police, and even most of our armed forces, cannot be trusted.
Mayor Nathan Park (Middle aged/adult Male, Korean American, American accent) is the mayor of a fictional Santa Barbara California in the story of Sporadic Phantoms. He gives a speech to the public at a rally, and answers the public's questions. Secretly- he is actually under control of an alien brain slug, so his agenda is on the side of the aliens invading Earth, so his new "safety proposals" he announces for Santa Barbara are quite dystopian and meant to give control to the aliens, so eventually they are able to corral the humans of Santa Barbara to an underground infestation facility.
He acts very naturally and convincingly as a human mayor. He fields questions from the crowd, keeping up this mask. At one point he does fumble a little bit...the aliens need better PR sometimes.
He has a speech, has dialogue fielding several questions, and appears in a news report at the end of the episode.
This is a small indie project, and we are able to pay $50 for this role at this time.
Because I like to give direction between takes, we will meet over Zoom and you will record on your end, in Audacity or a similar program, and save the files as wavs. Please have a decent microphone and the ability to record in a quiet environment without reverb.

My fellow Santa Barbarans: let me get right to the point. We can no longer deny that the domestic terrorist entity Sharethetruth have not only antagonized, blackmailed, and maliciously hacked The Sharing over the past several years, but they are also behind the recent exploitation of wildlife, the temporary kidnapping of our governor, and the series of violent attacks in our city and among our armed forces. But we Santa Barbarans are not intimidated by those who hide behind masks; literal…or otherwise.
Soon you’ll start to see safety coalition members throughout the city. You can recognize them by their blue jackets with official Santa Barbara insignia. So if you see them around, don’t hesitate to say hello! They are here to help.
I hear you. I hear your concern…Rest assured that we are doing everything we can… The main thing we can all do is remain calm… Thank you.
The escaped host (30/40s, female, adult, American accent) speaks out at a rally/protest in Santa Barbara, California. The rally is held by an invading alien race (brain slugs), and the escaped host, formerly infested, has been in hiding, but now she risks her life by speaking out at the rally and tells the public about the alien invasion of Earth, and how she escaped. She has been through a lot, being on the run. She is being covered by the media- so now is her chance to come out of hiding and speak out. She is very passionate and emotional, and I'm looking for someone with a dynamic range. At the same time, it needs to be believable and not over the top. She eventually apprehended by the alien's secret police force, and the rally descends into chaos.
Please have a decent microphone, and the ability to record in a quiet environment with no reverb. As this is a scene taking place outdoors at a rally, and she gets arrested and taken away yelling and protesting, it would be great if you have the ability to record in an environment where you can do some yelling- again without peaking out your microphone.
We will schedule a time to record together over zoom, with you recording on your end and saving takes as wav files. I give direction between approximately 3 takes.

I’ve seen it. I’ve seen their dungeon down there. People- Ask yourselves! What’s underneath The Sharing? What are they hiding?? You can ask them but they won’t tell you! Why won’t they tell us? Listen to me! Your worst fucking nightmare is underneath the Sharing! They are throwing people in cages!
ASK WHERE THEY’RE TAKING ME! THEY WON’T TELL YOU!
Logan (American accent, any gender, age 18-22) is a college student who is interviewed by the hosts of Sporadic Phantoms at a rally. Logan is part of a student activist organization that is secretly alien-run, and indeed Logan is also really a brain slug. But they blend in extremely well and therefore do not speak robotically or alien-like. They appear to be an enthusiastic college student supporting a good cause, to apprehend a dangerous group that has abducted teenagers in their hometown. But there are a few hints in the dialogue that suggest Logan and their group have ulterior motives and loyalties.
The interview scene is fairly brief, about 2.5 pages total with 3 characters talking.

We believe it’s our responsibility as civically engaged young people to speak out and amplify the voices of those who have been directly affected by Sharethetruth, and especially the voices of the young people who have been abducted. Because they don’t have the chance to have their voices heard at all.
