Project Overview

Souris is an original visual novel set in a small coastal town in Prince Edward Island, Canada, in the late 2000s. A mix of horror, mystery, thriller, and romance, the story follows a group of high schoolers who start investigating a death in their town, only to discover it isn't the first, and that something is still out there.

This is an independent passion project, built solo, unpaid, and made freely available (Itch.io, and Steam if development gets that far). If you're looking for a fun, low-pressure creative project rather than a professional gig, this might be a good fit. Beginners and experienced actors are both welcome.

All characters require actors 16+.

    I know it's only been a few days since this project was put up, but we've gotten some amazing submissions so far. But there were a few that were non negotiable due to the use of AI.

    DO NOT USE AI FOR VOICE ACTING SUBMISSIONS, ART SUBMISSIONS, OR ANY OTHER FORMS

    If we have suspicion that your audition was made with any amount of AI, you will immediately be rejected, as we do not support it.

    That being said, we've gotten some great submissions so far for this project.

Cooper's not the most confident kid in town, and he'd be the first to admit

it. He's dry, a little self-deprecating, the kind of guy who deflects with a

joke before he lets himself actually feel something. But underneath that,

he's stubborn in a quiet way, once something's bothering him, he can't let it

go, even when letting it go would clearly be the smarter move. He's the one

who finds the body, the one who insists on investigating, the one who stays

standing at the door when everyone else backs away. Not a hero by design,

just someone who can't stop himself from caring.

Evelyn is sharp, quick-witted, and uses humor and flirtation like armor. She

doesn't let people in easily, and when she does show warmth, it means

something, because it's rare and it's earned. She's smarter than she lets on

in casual conversation, raised on case files instead of bedtime stories

thanks to her mother's old paralegal job, and she's not shy about proving it

when someone underestimates her.

He's loyal without making a big deal out of it, and even when things get dark, he's the one still trying to find something to laugh about, sometimes at exactly the wrong moment.

Nadia deflects with sarcasm, always. She's the type who has an opinion about

everything and shares almost none of it for free. She joins the group

investigation because she's bored and wants to be busy, or that's what she

says, anyway. She knows more than she lets on, about the town, about the

case, about her own reasons for getting involved, and she's very good at

letting people believe they've gotten the whole story when they've only

gotten part of it.

Eleanor is the school principal, and Evelyn's mother. She's warm underneath

everything, but right now she's a woman trying to hold a

school, a town, and her own family together at the same time, and it shows.

She loves her daughter fiercely, tries to stay composed in front of

students, and clearly knows more about the town's history than she's

willing to say out loud yet.

just worn down, and quietly carrying more history with this town's past
