Sonic Origins Audioseries - Retelling the Stories of the Classic Era
Project Overview
In celebration of Sonic's 31st birthday and the upcoming release of Sonic Origins, we are going to release an audio mini-series on the Void of Voices YouTube channel. Aptly titled "Sonic Origins," this series will re-tell the stories of the mainline Classic Sonic games: Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The series brings classic moments from the games to life through the power of dialogue, sound effects and custom made music.
This project is directed, arranged and hosted by NAZE. I am only responsible for creating this casting call on his behalf.

The title character of the video games! Known by monikers such as "The fastest thing alive" and "The blue blur", Sonic the Hedgehog is a blue hedgehog with incredible speed and one heck of an attitude. He's adventurous, quippy, and never gives up despite the odds! Loves chili dogs, despises water. In Origins, we see how he first meets his iconic allies and villains, especially the hero-enemy relationship shared with Dr. Robotnik and his friendship with Miles "Tails" Prower.
WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR VOICE IMPRESSIONS! NO JALEEL WHITE, NO MARTIN BURKE, NO RYAN DRUMMOND, NO JASON GRIFFITH, NO ROGER CRAIG SMITH! NOT EVEN BEN SCHWARTZ OR TIM ROBINSON! NOT EVEN DEVEN MACK (even though not much has been shown of Mack's Sonic, it still counts as an impression)! WE WANT AN ORIGINAL TAKE ON THIS CHARACTER! WE WANT A VOICE THAT SHOWS CONFIDENCE, CARE FOR HIS FRIENDS, BUT AT THE SAME TIME HAS A CHILDLIKE WONDER ABOUT HIM!

"Man, these robot things have been popping up everywhere. Doesn’t help that my friends have been disappearing, too. I’m gonna make sure to give a good ol’ Sonic Spin to whoever has been hurting my friends."
(The first adventure begins for Sonic the Hedgehog)
(destroys a Badnik, a Flicky emerges from it) "So that’s where all the animals go before he turns you guys into robots, huh? Run free, critters. (determined to defeat Eggman) And now I gotta run. Can’t let Eggman get those… 'Chaos Emeralds' or whatever he calls 'em. Marble is a little bit away from here… he’s probably moved operations over there. Time to crack this so-called Eggman! WOOHOO!"
(speaking to Dr. Eggman, whom he meets for the first time. Eggman asks if Sonic is the "speedy blue rat" Motobug mentioned)
"The one and only. Terrible to meet ya doc. Name’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Have a feeling we aren’t exactly going to get along!"
(Sonic hurts Dr. Eggman's machine as he does in the video game.)
"I’m the fastest thing alive, Eggman. Funny name by the way. Did ya get named that by your parents cuz of that shape of yours?"
(in Labyrinth Zone, submerged in the water)
"Hatewaterhatewaterhatewaterhatewater —"
(in the special stage as seen in Sonic 1)
"Man, will never be used to this place. Trippy as heck..."
The role is in the title. The Narrator introduces viewers to the world of Sonic the Hedgehog as if shown for the very first time. The Narrator narrates certain sequences that move forward in the series, and provide insight and context to specific events and locations.
We are looking for that old-school 90s type Narrator that's very welcoming to the viewers. Almost a storybook narrator OR a serious narrator in a way that's similar to the Pokemon Narrator and Dragon ball Z Kai's narrator. Something along those lines.

Welcome, one and all, to the wonderful Planet Mobius. A planet filled with many amazing creatures big and small. Whether it be humanoid, or the lovely anthropomorphic creatures. Here, we find the lovely island out in the Sea: South Island. This island is home to the legendary six Chaos Emeralds. These emeralds are said to grant those who find all of them immense power. Here we find an evil scientist attempting to dig up those emeralds for his evil purposes. His name? Dr. Eggman.
Narrator: And so Sonic ran his way through Marble Zone — (pause) Spring Yard Zone — (pause) To being submerged in the treacherous, aquatic Labyrinth Zone — (pause) Running through the high speed Star Light Zone — (pause) all while running into the doctor and foiling his plans again and again.
"As Sonic’s plane flew over the island, we now join someone new-a little fox with two tails named Miles Prower - Little did Miles know soon he’d meet his best friend. His entire life was about to change, and this little fox had no idea what incredible journey he was about to take."
Dr. Julian Ivo Robotnik, typically going by the moniker "Eggman", is the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, from the classic era all the way to the current games. Dr. Eggman is hellbent on ruling Planet Mobius, utilizing innocent Mobian creatures to power his army of Badniks. Throughout the audioseries, viewers will get to see Eggman's hairbrained schemes and how he'll go through great lengths to attain absolute power, control the planet, and most of all, stop that meddlesome hedgehog!
For Eggman/Robotnik, we are looking for an original voice just like we are for Sonic. No impressions of previous voice actors. No Long John Baldry, Jim Cummings, Garry Chalk, Deem Bristow, Mike Pollock, or even Jim Carrey! We want an original take on the character, one that has that Classic Eggman feel to it. A voice that appears menacing but at the same time is a bit of a goofball.
