Sonic & Mega Man: Worlds Collide -- Full Comic Dub

Sonic & Mega Man: Worlds Collide -- Full Comic Dub

Project Overview

We at Fanfickle Entertainment are going to be making a full comic dub of the Worlds Collide series printed by Archie Comics. If you're unaware of what this comic series is, I would advise looking it up. If you wish to read the comics themselves, I recommend the Sonic Scanf website where you can read the twelve issues for free. It might help you with context of the lines. f you have any questions about that, I would be happy to answer them. In the meantime, let's get down to business.

Through private casting within the Fanfickle group, we've already casted a lot of the main roles. I myself am voicing a couple. But we need to cast the rest of the ones with lines, and there is still a good amount of important roles to go. That's where you come in.

You'll be looking at these characters in order of appearance first (may be reversed thanks to the way the website works), order of importance second. If we have an amazing audition for an early character, we'll stick with them and let everyone continue to try out for the rest as we take their lines. Remember, while we're holding this casting call to attract everyone at once, we're going to be gradually releasing the dubs one issue after another, so the sooner we have a needed voice actor the better.

One thing before you go for the actual lines themselves. Some of the characters below (almost all of the Sonic characters, at that) get turned into Roboticized Masters in the comic, and a line will be marked clearly for them being in that state if it exists. When that happens, I want their voice to stay the same, but their inflections should change into that of a Borg Drone. (Look up clips of Seven of Nine and Locutus for reference on how that tone goes.) Don’t add any filters, we’ll take care of that ourselves.

Plus, there are plenty of extra roles who don’t have even as many lines as the smallest roles here. The ones that matter will be on this list, but there are plenty I have chosen not to include. We may cast you as a handful of them even if we don’t cast you as the rest.

If you have any questions, leave a comment below. The editor and I will try to answer every question we get. Thanks, and good luck!

-Morkez Marihser, casting director

P.S.: If you can't audition via the website, I'll also accept them via Skype. Find me at "morkez.evg".

Latest Updates

  • Deadline Extension #2: 3/31/16

With the first episode fully casted, and plenty of characters that appear soon after lacking auditions, the deadline for this project has been extended by three weeks. Please note that if a character you are interested appears in the second or third issues, a casting decision may need to be made before then.

  • Casting Decisions: Eggman and Cubot

Deven0711 has earned the role of Eggman, and Fairfieldfencer has earned the role of Cubot. Those two roles are now closed.

  • Deadline Extension #1: 3/10/16

Due to delays in terms of advertising the project, the closing date of the call has been extended by a week to give people who have only now learned about the project more time.

Vector the Crocodile

Role assigned to: blazer terribad

Vector is the super-brawny leader of the Chaotix detective agency, albeit not exactly the brains of the outfit. He might not be the best with the complex sciences, but he’s clever enough to do his job and he always has his heart in the right place. He’ll take the initiative to find what he needs to find in order to help his allies.

You may use any voice of his from the games that you like, so long as his tone is kept from sounding silly. Remember, his voice is gruff but not as gruff as, say, Bowser’s. We need to understand every word he says.

  • “Think of it like training! You can’t reap the benefits until you do the work!”

  • “...Man, Sonic is not paying me enough for this...actually, did we even discuss pay...?”

  • “Look, I don’t normally do this, but seein’ as you kinda saved our lives and we’re a long way from home, I’m offerin’ you one case by the Chaotix for free.”

DWN-055: Shade Man appears briefly in a later issue. He is a robot designed heavily off of bats and vampires, and utilizes the supersonic shriek. His voice should reflect the snarl and accent of a vampire. (The accent only says "Any" because Transyllvanian wasn't an option.)

  • “The lady has joined classier company, my boy!”

Role assigned to: shadowxx25

Orbot is one of Eggman’s two robotic servants. He is the smarter one of the two, and has a humble voice with a British accent. Try and go for a calm David Tennant voice.

  • “Pardon me, oh hairy-lipped bosses.”

  • “Certainly, sir. But I thought you should know we’ve lost Shadow Man, and there was a small pocket of destabilization in the zone.”

DWN-064: Aqua Man appears briefly in a later issue. Bearing nothing in common with the DC character, he is a flamboyant robot who controls the flow of water. His voice should reflect his mischievous showmanship.

  • “I’m always happy to help a lady make a splash!  Hahaha!”

DLN-003: Cut Man was one of the eight original Robot Masters (including Oil Man and Time Man) created to help humanity in the field as living tools. Cut Man was a lumber worker before his reprogramming. Now, he’s part of the reformed group led by Elec Man, and works with precision cuts and slices from a distance.

Cut Man appears briefly, and his voice should reflect his nature as a cunning jokester, complete with as many puns as you could imagine.

  • “Mind if we cut in?”

Role assigned to: fairfieldfencer

Omega is a former servant of Eggman, and the most powerful in the E-100 series. Switching sides after a programming anomaly, Omega is a deadly enemy of Eggman (more that than an ally to anyone else) who gets his kicks from using excessive force whenever it’s viable to do so.

Omega might be a robot but in the comics he has a very distinct personality. You may use a monotone if you wish but it is not necessary, and regardless of the tone the flow of the syllables should sound natural. Keep the voice medium as you speak, though.

  • “PLEASE. Back of the line, peashooter.”

  • “I will protect the flabby, hairy man!”

DWN-035: Stone Man appears briefly in a later issue. He is a robot who can take a beating seeing as how he can rebuild himself out of practically any stone, and his voice should reflect a durable wall of a fighter.

  • “This guy hits like Guts Man!”

Charmy is the more cheerful member of Chaotix, and a bit of a hyperactive nutball. He tries to play himself up as adorable to make up for his naivete, and it occasionally works. He uses his small size and versatile flying to his advantage.

Charmy’s voice should sound like any version of him thus far...except the one in Sonic Colors and onward. We want him to sound distinctly different from Tails, who in this project is based on the one from Shadow the Hedgehog through Sonic Unleashed.

  • “Forget you guys! I’m getting my ice cream! And they’ll give it to me for FREE because I’m so CUTE and ADORABLE!”

  • “ECHO! (Echo! Echo!)”

  • “No! One on the top row, two on the third row!”

DWN-024: Shadow Man is the ninja-like Robot Master, and one of the few that Dr. Wily didn’t build himself. He was activated by Wily upon being discovered in ancient ruins, and his metal body does not match any material on earth. His skills range from summoning and throwing large shurikens to creating body duplicates as deadly as his own.

Shadow Man should have a stereotypical ninja voice: near-silent and with a Japanese accent. It doesn’t have to be strong, but it should be reminiscent of a stoic sensei.

  • “Pathetic. No discipline.”

  • “I am one of Dr. Wily’s ELITE! I will not be defeated by a child and a dog!”

You all know this one. He is the Eggman, the mustachioed archenemy of Sonic the Hedgehog. (As opposed to his partner in crime, Dr. Wily, the mustachioed archenemy of Mega Man.) With his skills in robotics and power-controlling machinery, Eggman intends to use any available resource to take down that pesky hedgehog and his blue robotic ally.

The voice we want for this one is the Mike Pollock voice in the tone you hear in Sonic Unleashed. Serious enough not to be considered silly (like in Sonic Boom) but flamboyant enough to keep him from being boring (like in Sonic ‘06). Try and get as close as you can to the tone.

Also, fair warning. You will have a LOT of lines if you earn this role.

  • “The beauty of this zone isn’t just that it’s hidden from prying eyes. It’s that it bends the rules of time and space! Hours here are barely seconds in our home dimensions!”

  • “Awwww, does wittle Tails miss his wittle friends? Let’s turn that frown upside-down, whaddayasay?”

  • “Hahaha! He’s all yours, Knuckles. Now Proto Man, hold still for a face full of death lasers! …’weapons offline?!’ Why are my--? ...YOU sabotaged ME?!”

Role assigned to: pincamo

Rouge is a jewel hunter slash bounty huntress slash government agent slash spy. If that weren’t confusing enough, it’s never entirely clear which side she’s on other than “not Eggman’s”. However, she tends to be loyal to those who have saved her skin a few times, such as Shadow or Knuckles.

Rouge has a very, VERY slight sultry tone in her voice, and occasionally teases to drive her “friends” crazy. But when anything’s on the line, such as money or her life, she’ll go completely serious. Try and imitate the one from Shadow the Hedgehog through the first two Olympics games.

  • “I was in the middle of an investigation when a teammate was captured by Copy Robot. That was a mistake on his part--he made things personal.”

  • “Oh, honey, you have NO idea. It’s also easy to fill in the intel gaps since Eggman can’t secure a network to save his life.”

  • “Oh, I think THIS might do something…”

Dr. Light is best known as the creator of Rock (AKA Mega Man), but not just him. He also created Roll, Blues (AKA Proto Man), Rush, Auto, the entire first series of Robot Masters, and then some. He cares for his creations, especially Rock and Roll, like a father would care for his children. Whenever Dr. Wily attacks, Light feels responsible for letting him, and feels it is his personal responsibility to make sure Mega Man stops him.

Light should be the kind, wise, and confident father everyone wishes they had, and his tone of voice should reflect his age. I will accept things similar to his depictions in the 1994 cartoon and the PSP games, but I will NOT accept the way he was performed in Mega Man 8. This is a dub, not a satire. (Perhaps something similar to the Sultan from Aladdin, but less silly.)

  • “Be careful, Mega Man! There’s no telling what these new robots are capable of!”

  • “You thought you had complete control of Ra Moon. And Gamma. And King, the Stardroids, Roboenza, BASS. You’ve toyed with things you CANNOT handle for YEARS, and Mega Man has had to save you from yourself.”

  • "Go on, son. Be the hero we need you to be."

One of the members of the Genesis unit, namely the one who likes to gloat and put down his enemies regardless of if he can actually beat them. I want someone to sound snide and overconfident, but not brutish.

  • “They say robots can’t drown. Let’s test that!”

  • “When Copy Robot assigned our targets, I’ll admit I was concerned. After all, you DO have QUITE a reputation.”

One of the members of the Genesis unit, and a powerhouse. He should sound like a brutish muscle man, and not the smartest person, given that he believes he can throw force at anything and it’ll be knocked down.

  • “Maybe you should come in...FOR A LANDING!”

Duo

Role assigned to: deleted9386

Duo is a character that does not appear often in the series, and the same can be said for this comic. The simplest way to describe Duo is a strong but silent robotic space cop with levels of power greater than any other robot built. Many of his powers are based on meteors and comets.

Duo’s voice should be stoic, serious, and important sounding, but not over the top. Think Optimus Prime without all the heavy breathing or quite as low a voice. Alternatives that would work are tone like George Takei, Avery Brooks, or David Keith.

  • “I have been alerted to trouble on Earth! And I sense EVIL is present. Where shall justice be served?”

  • “This very dimension is EVIL, poisoning the two worlds. I detect DOZENS of advanced robots and multiple life forms...I sense incredible energy...living, EVIL...and CHAOTIC.”

  • “I sense evil--but also nobility. You are a creature conflicted. I will purge the evil from you.”

DLN-008: Elec Man was one of the eight original Robot Masters (including Oil Man and Time Man) created to help humanity in the field as living tools. Before Wily programmed him, Elec Man was a power plant worker. Now, he’s the leader of the now-reformed group of the eight Robot Masters and a master of controlling his lightning power.

Elec Man is a bit conceited and resentful of the First Law of Robotics, but now that he’s working with the good guys he has a good soul. His voice should reflect this, but do NOT go as far as the melodramatic voice seen in Mega Man Powered Up. You can use that voice, but tone yourself down a LOT.

  • “One miracle, coming right up.”

  • “Even with Duo on the way, she thought you’d need back-up. Which you OBVIOUSLY do…”

  • “You three go on. My brothers and I will get this fight under control.”

Amy is the self-appointed love of Sonic’s life...in her own eyes anyway. While she spends her idle time dreaming of a life with Sonic, she’s no pushover on the battlefield. Her hammer is perhaps the most powerful battering weapon ever known, and she is adept at using it.

Feel free to get creative with the way you do this voice, but make sure that it’s not shrill. Amy might be a fangirl of Sonic’s but she doesn’t squee in these comics. If I had to give a reference to work off of, I’d say the Sonic X anime.

  • “OH, SONIC!!! Are you ALRIGHT?! Did I HURT you?! I’ll NEVER forgive Eggman for turning me against you like that!”

  • “Aren’t you ever going to let that go? I couldn’t tell that wasn’t you!”

  • ROBOTICIZED MASTER: “Engaging target. Self-destruction authorized to eliminate target.”

Silver is a time-traveling hedgehog who is too headstrong for his own good. His speed and power is based on his psychic abilities, which he uses as an attempt to save his apocalyptic future. Although sometimes his emotions let him get carry away.

Pretty much any voice used for him so far will do, but in this iteration he is not whiny. He doesn’t appear all that much, so keep that in mind that what lines he has are very important.

  • “I detected a disturbance in space-time originating from this period. I don’t have much to go on besides this weird sense that-- ...Yes! Exactly!”

  • “So this zone, the fractured memories--they’re all tied to the disruption in space-time I came to warn you about.”

DWN-012: Quick Man is the fastest Robot Master ever made, in terms of his raw speed. He’s often considered to be the tactical leader of the Robot Masters whenever they are on their own. Much like Sonic, he’s addicted to high-velocity, but even more addicted to trashing his enemies. He would rather be deactivated than ever ally himself with Mega Man.

Quick Man’s voice should be a counterpart to Sonic’s, and he should be very prideful. He should talk in a similar way, but with a voice that clearly isn’t Sonic’s own. (I’m basically telling you what not to do, beyond that I’ll take some creative freedom.)

  • “I ALMOST regret this. There was no thrill in fighting that slow-poke Mega Man!”

The narrator may or may not be used in this. This is for all the text boxes that establish locations and the (sometimes comedic) descriptions thereof. The voice can be male or female, so long as it’s to the point and not at the level of “Meanwhile at the Legion of Doom”. This is an example of what you’ll be doing. as seen in the first comic.

  • “Doctor Wily’s Secret Base, Mega Man’s World… Now.”

  • “Evil geniuses--UNITED! Blue heroes--BATTLING! Sonic’s friends--CORRUPTED! Proto Man--IN TROUBLE!”

  • “Answers and action await you in Part Two, featured in Sonic Universe #51!”

Cubot is Eggman’s...less intelligent lackey. He spouts nonsense in a voice reminiscent of Pinky from Pinky and the brain, except more nasal. Use Sonic Boom as a reference point. (Note: He doesn’t talk all that much in this comic.)

  • “Comin’ right up boss! Aaaaand...ACTION!”

  • “Got any two’s?”
