Project Soleil | BL Visual Novel
Project Overview
Soleil (name pending) is a BL visual novel that we wish to develop for the upcoming Josei or Yaoi Jam this year.
Set 200 years in the future of an Earth ravaged by climate change, people now live atop "nomad cities" that can float above the rising ocean levels. A giant megacorporation, known as ShinkaCorp, controls most industries and daily life. Farm space is scarce and plants are highly valued, leading to the creation of many synthetic materials and food.
Wu Xinyu works as a "camellia" - a person that administers aromas, meditation, and soothing tea as a form of therapy. Thanks to the fact that plants have been genetically altered beyond recognition, this is a very popular and effective trade that makes lots of money. However, most of Xinyu's revenue goes straight into his medical bills, as he relies on a variety of medication and prosthetics to keep himself functional.
One day, ShinkaCorp announces that they will be sunsetting all support for older models of their prosthesis, throwing Xinyu into turmoil. As someone who lives paycheck-to-paycheck, he cannot afford the cost of an upgrade or treatment.
It just so happens, however, that one of the ShinkaCorp heirs suffers from a condition that requires a camellia's expertise...

Thank you for your interest! This is the first project for most of our current team of four, and we're very excited to make it happen for the Josei or Yaoi Jam.
Everyone on the team will be working unpaid and the game will be released for free when the respective game jam concludes.
Voice acting roles will only be voicing around 20-30 lines as this VN will only be partially voice acted, not fully.
This game will touch upon heavy and uncomfortable topics, which may at times be graphic. There is no sexual content. 18+ auditions only, thank you.

Xinyu is a very introverted person that comes off as rather cold and unapproachable due to the distance he keeps with others. However, this is mainly as a result of him being shy and unable to properly interact with other people outside of work.
He suffers from a variety of physical illnesses that have plagued him since he was young. Altitude sickness and asthma being the biggest ones that would affect his voice. He is very physically weak as a result of these illnesses and relies on prosthetic legs to get around.
He is transmasc (FtM), but please feel free to apply regardless of your gender identity or expression!

Voice should be soft but distant (perhaps monotonous), maybe a little hoarse. Extra direction in the lines themselves.
Micah is pronounced "MAI (MY)-kah". He is Xinyu's childhood friend, prosthetic mechanic, and roommate.
In-universe, a "camellia" is someone who administers tea-related aromatherapy. Xinyu is very dedicated and good at his work, but he lives paycheck-to-paycheck.
His character is still in development, so it's fine if your submission has a different take! In fact, I really welcome whatever direction you interpret him in!

(out of breath, desperate) M-Micah, inhaler... N-Nightstand.... Please...
Micah is a very friendly and charismatic local mechanic for prosthetics (think automail from Fullmetal Alchemist). Despite his joking and griping, he takes care of his friends the best that he can and finds joy in helping people make sure their artificial limbs are working properly. He has known Xinyu since they were children and harbors repressed romantic feelings for him that he tries to deal with by dating other people.
Micah should have a low voice that feels a little bubbly. He is extremely warm and a little loud, but not obnoxiously so. He does not ever raise his voice, instead his anger is very cold. He should sound like he's excited to chat all the time.
Micah is pronounced "MAI (MY)-kah".
Shinka is pronounced "SHEEN-kah".
Of course, as with all other roles, since this character is still in development, please feel free to also do your own spin on the character! I encourage and welcome it.

Makoto is one of two heirs to a giant megacorporation known as ShinkaCorp. He is always composed, poised, and holds himself with a standoffish, noble air. Things rarely faze him and he prides himself on his confidence and skill in solving various problems, as well as remaining professional in all situations.
Makoto has a neutral, relaxed demeanor despite his overwhelming aura. He speaks with a soft lilt to his voice that sounds pleasant and even a little flirty at times. He should embody something akin to 'a devil with a silver tongue'.
His animal motif is a fox.

I don't expect you to nail this perfectly, as Makoto isn't a Chinese speaker himself, but getting something as close to that would be preferred.

You do not need to know Japanese for this role, but so long as you can pronounce Japanese words properly, that's good enough!

(curious, playful) Wu Xinyu? You must be the little camellia that my brother brought home. (pause) Have we met?
(soft, but troubled and hesitant) I cannot get rid of these marks on my face. They are my shame—Takuma Makoto's shame.
Akiho is an extremely two-faced and petty character, who relies on a cutesy exterior to lower people's guards. He is one of two heirs to the giant megacorporation, ShinkaCorp. The only person he holds in high regard in his life is his older brother, Makoto.
Akiho voicing should be done in two different registers. He has a "cutesy, playful" voice that he uses all the time, and then a much deeper normal speaking voice that he uses either when he's angry or speaking seriously (or sometimes with his brother, where he drops the act). Please make sure the cutesy voice is not overly so - it's not in Akiho's interest to sound fake, just concerned and airheaded. He's putting on an act, not trying to annoy someone.
His normal voice should be much deeper than his cutesy one. His tone should be a little haughty and arrogant to anyone that isn't Makoto, who he speaks respectfully with.
His design is still in concept stages, but I can confirm that he is a crossdresser. He is also 5'11" (or 180cm). Please be aware of this and make sure you are comfortable with it before auditioning.

We need a background artist that can dry cityscapes and plants. The setting is a solarpunk-like future where cities are built on top of moving islands in a large ocean.
We would primarily need someone that can draw both interior and exteriors.

We're looking for someone to compose around 5 tracks or so for the visual novel, set in a solarpunk future. Mainly able to do techno, futuristic and uplifting beats or tracks that can loop.
