SOCIETY: An Audio Short Film
Project Overview
SOCIETY is a audio short film version of a series of unproduced teleplays about a father who lost his family at the dawn of societal extinction.
This short audio takes the core characteristics of Lee and condenses it into a quick interaction with his sister-in-law Joan and featuring an unprofessional one-verse, one-chorus cover of the Eddie Vedder song by the same name.
Lee is a middled aged rugged, gritty, angry, reserved survivor who is driven by pain and loss, and each word he speaks reflects that. This character is the lead and performs slow, vulnerable SINGING moments as his way of grounding himself in the apocalypse.
Being such a lonely, tortured character, I am looking for someone who can channel the pent up pain of a former husband and father in every sound he utters in a quiet and reserved manner.

So, what do you want? For me to put on a smile and pretend the world hasn’t ended yet? Mine has, Joan.
Joan is a mature middle aged survivor and, much like Lee, has lost too much. The key difference between Joan and Lee is that she has dealt with her pain and uses it to survive as oppose to letting it kill her on an emotional level. Joan is a tough leader and is the very last trusted friend Lee has.

You don’t have to say anything. But running off from the group, always reserved, always angry. People fear what they don’t trust, and people don’t trust a lone wolf.
