Project Overview

Kayori is permanently connected to a VR Headset as part of the Smile Program— a program developed by the US government in collaboration with VRChat. Battling profound loneliness and self-hatred, Kayori finds herself in a desperate emotional struggle, yearning for an escape from herself. As news of a deadly AI Virus named Quinn emerges, Kayori sees an opportunity to end her struggles.

  • New Roles!

    Hey everyone, this is Director Mae!

    I'm excited to announce the addition of a few new roles to our project: Spark, John Tupper, Lancer Tupper, Depressed Smiler, and Officer Veronica.

    We'll be adding more roles in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for an update!

    We've also expanded the Police Officer role from 1-4 to 1-6, so we need six different VA's for these parts.

    I'd also like to encourage you to consider some of the roles that haven't received as many auditions yet, such as Gary, Loel, Johnny, Brad, Sasha, and Police Officers 1-6.

A young adult who for all intents and purposes experiences life in VRChat – 5 senses and all – through The Smile Program’s innovative technology which is now integrated with her physical body that is unable to move. They struggle with a persisting loneliness, self-hatred, and their sense of self-worth. Unable to act on their suicidal desires, their cynical view of the world has only darkened, and the small hopes they have of making friends are repeatedly crushed with each new interaction. The feeling of worthlessness resulting from being rejected by both her family and strangers manifests as different versions or parts of Kayori emphasizing the negative emotions, effectively becoming their own bully.
