Shifterhood follows Wendy, whose life has been upended when she is discovered to be a 'starchild'. Now she must live at the Everwinds Thaumatics Center where she must learn to control her starchild powers of shapeshifting. Along the way she meets new friends, Ciara and Jin, who are shapeshifters just like her.

A teenage girl, and newly-discovered starchild with shapeshifting abilities. She is desperate to grow up, achieve independence and be treated as an adult. She is ambitious, and motivated by achievement. Her ambition often leads her to being stubborn and hypercompetitive. She tends to be cynical, sardonic, and passive-aggressive. Despite her air of bravado and composure, she tends to be high-strung, and moving to the Thaumatics Center has brought out her nervous side. She is hyperreactive and easily startled. Rather than reveling in her newfound superpower, she instead fixates on the sense of identity and direction that it has cost her.
Age: 17 (Born July 18, 1997)
Voice: Somewhat raspy alto. Has a tendency to mumble. Confident and articulate when at ease, but when stressed or frustrated she tends to stammer, "Um Err Ah", and make other Weird Wendy Noises. Has a Boston accent that comes out occasionally. Similar to: Raven (Teen Titans), Lord Dominator (Wander over Yonder), Tendi (Star Trek, Lower Decks), Norma (Dead End Paranormal Park), Tulip (Infinity Train)- female teen

A young adult starchild with shapeshifting abilities. She is extroverted and excitable, with an unrelentingly bright and sunny disposition. She is impulsive, but also quick-thinking and clever. She is dedicated to spreading cheer, often using her shapeshifting power to do so. Alternatively, she enjoys performing music, as a talented singer, guitarist, and songwriter. She struggles with reading others' feelings and picking up on subtext. She is often forceful and can come off as pushy.
Age: 18 (Born February 23, 1997)
Voice: Bright and exciteable. A bit of a motormouth. Talented singer, capable of both clean and rough vocals. Similar to: Princess Daisy (Super Mario)- female teen

A stoic young adult starchild, with shapeshifting abilities. Quiet, but not shy or melancholic. Only speaking when she has something to say, she typically serves as a voice of reason to counter Ciara and Wendy' s opposing flavors of hothead. She is occasionally snarky, but almost never angry.
Age: 18 (Born December 6, 1996)
Voice: Low contralto tone, deep but still feminine. Very subdued in expressiveness, but not completely deadpan. Subtle Vancouver accent. Similar to: Billie (Big Top Burger), Mai (ATLA), Marceline (Adventure Time), Maud Pie (MLP:FiM)- female teen

The administrator of Everwinds Thaumatics Center. He strives to be inviting, personable, and humble, involving himself personally at all levels of the facility's operation. Formerly a financial executive, he has dedicated himself and his wealth towards providing the best life he can for the starchildren he's entrusted with caring for. His dedication to this mission is unquestionably genuine. He struggles when required to enforce rules and discipline.
Age: Early 50's
Voice: Jolly, somewhat Santa Claus-type voice. Has a warm and welcoming tone which diffuses tension and makes others feel at ease.- male adult

…Yes, well, unfortunately, we’ve had to put fondue Fridays on hold. There’s been some incidents-
A professional, no-nonsense researcher and medical expert. She is the world's leading expert on thaumatic phenomena, and takes pride in her work and accomplishments. She has a cold facade, but ultimately cares deeply about the starchildren for whom she serves as a physician.
Age: Late 30's
Voice: Prominent Ghanaian accent. Stern & serious, speaks bluntly and somewhat coldly.- female adult
Your Thaumatic ability has only just manifested. It will be some time before you can start to control. Until then, it could be…
All starchildren are required to attend at a thaumatics center such as this one.

A timid & shy young starchild with a pyrokinetic power. She struggles with controlling her power, and is very fearful and avoidant towards it. She is defensive, and hesitant to open up to others, worrying about hurting them accidentally.
Age: 13
Voice: Young girl voice. Speaks softly and unconfidently, as if constantly on the verge of tears. Has a persistent stutter.- female teen

So you- You’re like a shapeshifter, like… like Jin and Ciara?
Wendy's mother. She is an enthusiastic parent, and a go-getting real estate agent by profession. She dotes over Wendy and constantly attempts to offer encouragement, often to Wendy's dismay.
Age: Mid 40's
Voice: Middle-aged woman. Mature but fun. Similar to: Mrs. Diaz (SVtFoE)- female adult
I know you’re worried about leaving home… but try to think positive!
I think it’s all that sad music she’s been listening to.
Aww, come on, try to think positive! Isn’t it at least a little exciting?
Wendy's father. Cautious and reserved by nature, approaches most situations with a "don't rock the boat" attitude. An intellectual, he serves as a voice of reason to contrast Eliza's enthusiasm, though the two still get along well. As Wendy's parents, the two of them are intelligent, caring, capable, and completely out of their depth.
Age: Mid 40's
Voice: Soft-spoken middle-aged man. Intellectual and classy.- male adult
