Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of Adelphi House [PAID]

Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of Adelphi House [PAID]

Project Overview

Introduction

This is an one-part audio drama based off Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Holmes is visited by a man who claims to be plagued by strange dreams and threatening letters. Only a short time later, he vanishes. It is up to Holmes to solve the mystery...where there is, of course, more than meets the eye.

This is, essentially, a passion project, so while this is paid, the payment is not regular VA rates. Payment will be made via PayPal.

I will be posting the finished project on YouTube and possibly other platforms for podcasts/audio dramas (TBD).

RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS

While this project is only PG-rated, you must be 18+ to audition.

  • For recording, please make sure your microphone has good sound quality. It doesn't matter to me the kind of microphone it is, as long the sound is clear and at a good volume. Also, be sure to record in a quiet room; if there is loud buzzing, refrigerator noises, fans, etc. I can't use that.
  • Please submit audition files as MP3, as the site compresses wav. files, and may distort them.

What to Expect

The casting call will remain open until the deadline. I may extend it if necessary, but I will not close roles before the deadline.

If you fit a part you did not audition for, I may cast you in that role. If you only want to be considered for the role you auditioned for, or there are any particular roles you do not want, please write that in your audition submission so I know not to consider you for those.

Communication will be done via e-mail. If you want to keep your e-mail private and not put it on the audition, please make sure to send it to me via private message if you are cast.

This is not a terribly long audio drama, so it's not a huge amount of lines to record. I would need 2 takes per line and no more than 3...this is so I have different takes to choose from, but not TOO many.

Thanks for taking the time to audition! Have fun, and looking forward to hearing them!

Latest Updates

  • Casting Call Closed

The casting call has officially closed.

Thank you to every single person who took the time to audition. I really appreciate there were so many who were interested and tried out for the project.

I should have the roles cast in the next few days. Please keep an eye on the CCC notifications. If you are cast (and haven't given me your e-mail yet) please DM me so I can get you the script.

If you’re not chosen for a role, PLEASE don’t take it personally. Especially for new voice actors, don’t let it discourage you! I get rejected for roles far more than I care to admit. Don’t take not getting cast in this project as a negative reflection of your talent.

Once again, thank you everyone for auditioning!

  • Audition deadline extended

I've extended the deadline for the casting call. Thanks for your patience!

  • I came to you because...well, if it was just the one thing that happened, I wouldn’t have bothered, but with all the rest...

  • You see, we recently moved to our home in Summersetshire. There's a lot of wooded parkland behind the house. My wife and I were doing a bit of exploring. We were in a part of the woods I hadn’t been in and suddenly it was there.

  • [Bordering hysteria] I don’t know I tell you! I’ve racked my brains trying to think.

  • It's a wretched night out there Mr. Holmes, make no mistake. I'm soaked through! I wasn't expecting it to rain.

  • [Exasperated] And what happened to this room since I've left? I straightened up just this morning!

  • [Somewhat guiltily, after Holmes mentions her listening in on a conversation] Well, I did start out looking through the post. But the man's voice did carry...

  • [Suppressing tears, speaking to Holmes] Yes, I knew my husband had come here, that’s why I had to come and see you.

  • [Terrified] Someone’s outside! They threw a rock through the window!

  • [Explaining to Holmes] But there was no one outside. The police came, but there wasn’t much they could do. They said there had been various reports of vandalism in the village recently. And they didn’t seem very concerned about Charles. They said people disappear every day and there is usually no harm.

  • Perhaps you'd better lie down for a while madam. I'll bring some tea up to you.

  • [Conversational] Not, of course, that I go in for gossip...but ones DOES hear things. That the house is cursed, that Mrs. Lettering is going mad.

  • I'm certainly not saying I believe the house is cursed. But, I must say, something very odd is going on. The master disappearing and the mistress on the edge of a nervous breakdown.

  • I was wooing the lady Violet on the terrace. Not very successfully, I’m sorry to say.

  • [Talking about another person at a party] I saw her in Macbeth recently and she stole the show. I should introduce you.

  • [After being good-naturedly teased] It’s very ungentlemanly of you to kick a fellow when he’s down. Maybe I’ll have better luck this time. Excuse me.
