Secret Love
Project Overview
SECRET LOVE
When shy, awkward Theo moves to a new town with his mom and older sister, he’s just hoping to survive high school unnoticed. But everything shifts the day Damien, loud, charismatic, and unapologetically himself, reaches down to help him pick up his dropped papers.
What begins as a simple friendship soon turns into something deeper… something Theo isn’t sure he’s ready to admit to the world, to his family, or even to himself.

(soft, nervous) Um… I’m Theo. I think this is my locker? Maybe. I don’t know. Sorry, I’m… still figuring stuff out.
(vulnerable, voice cracking a little) Why does it feel easier to stay invisible than to say how I actually feel?
(hopeful, like a small confession) When I’m with you... it’s like I’m not just some guy in the background.
Theo’s older sister! sarcastic, nurturing, queer herself. Acts like she’s got everything together, but deeply cares beneath her chill.

(compassionate but direct) I don’t need you to be perfect, Theo. I just need you to show up — for yourself.
(calm, but with weight) You’re not broken. Just… scared. And scared doesn’t mean you stop trying Theo

(teasing but warm) Careful there, clumsy. If you break yourself on day one, who am I supposed to hang out with?
(sincere, emotionally open) You’re weird. But, like... in a way that makes me not wanna look away.
(soft but firm, encouraging) You don’t have to be ready. Just don’t run from this, okay? From me.
Straight-laced, firm, believes in tradition. Struggles to connect with Damien emotionally. Thinks love should look a certain way. His voice is controlled, but carries judgment when he’s uncomfortable.

(stern, almost cold): “This… thing with the other boy — it’s a phase. You’ll grow out of it. Focus on your future, not on distractions.”
(disapproving, measured): “You think the world’s going to be kind to someone like you? I’m trying to protect you, Damien. Whether you like it or not.”
Quieter, but no less conflicted. She’s torn between love for her son and fear of what others might think. She’s not cruel — just scared and passive, often letting Mr. Adams lead the conversation.

(soft, conflicted): “I just want what’s best for you, sweetheart. And this… this path you’re on… it’s not going to be easy.”
(nervous, trying to sound calm): “Can’t you just… be friends? Maybe it’s better if you don’t make a big deal out of this.”
