Sci Fi Short Film "2110"
Project Overview
General Description
4-5 minute sci fi film. It will be a photo montage, told almost entirely through still images with dialogue and narration. Check out the film La Jetee for an example of this.
2110 is about a human settlement in the far future, on a distant, lifeless exoplanet. The Narrator of this story is a young man who's job is to paint the interiors of apartments. The settlement is a pit-stop for passing travelers. They leave things behind and sometimes die in their rooms. The Narrator talks about his job, his life, and the things the city has to offer. It's all very melancholy, everything is sad even though nothing seems to be immediately wrong.
At the end the Narrator awakes one night, and comes upon a visitor who seems to be not entirely human. The visitor reminds him he's not alone before walking off.

Notes for Voice Actors
I will be requiring remote recording via your home setup. I would prefer to be live on zoom during recording. This will allow for immediate notes, feedback, and direction. This will facilitate a better performance and faster turnaround for all parties involved. I am willing to work around your schedule to make this happen.
In the notes for the Narrator role I mention Jim Trainor. Trainor is an experimental animator who's films have a very specific narration style. The dialogue is written in a very straight forward way, and is delivered in a very plain speaking style. It creates an effect of earnest innocence with the narrator. This is one of the most important qualities I want the narrator to have, and I would encourage anyone auditioning for the narrator role to watch Jim's films for reference. Trainor's most well know films are The Bats and The Moschops. Both are available on Youtube. Small warning: Trainor's movies are technically NSFW.
Voice Actor
Young man, gentle and naive. He works with his brother painting apartment interiors. In terms of ambitions, dreams, goals, he hasn't really thought about those and doesn't have a clue where to begin. He wouldn't call himself happy, but there's a contentment in stability.
His speaking style is simple and matter-of-fact. The speaking style takes inspiration from the animated shorts of Jim Trainer like The Bats and The Moschops.

Voice Actor
An alien, possibly. We're not quite sure. Intelligent, learned, and friendly if a bit confusing to interact with.
I originally envisioned the voice of an older man, but if you have an alternate take based on the short description above, I want to hear it.
