Rumble Ranch Demo
Project Overview
This is a casting call for Rumble Ranch, Rumble Ranch is a player versus player fighting game full of anthro characters, with inspiration from titles such as; Them's Fighting Herds, Guilty Gear Strive, and mainly: Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, with a planned cast of around 30 fighters, each of different playstyles and designs which blend together smoothly, and have special voice lines for each matchup. Rumble Ranch has a art style very simular to that of Jet Set Radio, Bomb Rush Cyperfunk, and other popular titles under the Playstation 2/Y2K artstyle, while also taking inspiration animation wise mainly from Skullgirls, but also great inspiration from TFH.
Currently, we are casting only needed animation and artist talent to complete work on the demo, which is scheduled to release sometime late this year, or early next year as we would have had heavy progress underway by then.
The deadline for auditions is September 25th, 2025. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline, unless we fail to meet a good amount of people auditioned, in that case - we will extend the limit, there really isn't a ton of competition, chances are that if you have good work to offer, you are likely to be cast because of there being multiple of the same roles.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Warm work environment, we like to have fun with the game, as well as tons of concepts and ideas constantly, new characters, new mechanics, moveset ideas, etc. "A unsaid idea is worse than a bad one" - Lead Writer, Lorenz
We like to communicate through Discord mainly inside our development server, but if you have any complications that may make that not an option, we will be more than happy to work something out.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First and foremost, have fun -- this project is a project of passion for the medium its in, and we must treat it as so, this is all just for the sake of fun - for the player, and for us.
If you have some sort of website to show your art portfolio, that would greatly apricated, but if you would rather just dump a ton of your work in the audition directly in my messages, that would also work, albeit a little less professional.
We do occasionally ask for certain things your art or animation to be tweaked, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.

Complete the cleanup work on animation from the rough animators, more detail will be provided when doing work on sprites.
For reference as to what animation style Rumble Ranch uses, look at games like Them's Fighting Herd or Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, Rumble Ranch has a very similar traditional 2D animation style to those game.

Develop poses for moves and abilities that characters use inside the game, which will later get made into rough animation, which will end up being completed clean down the work pipeline.

Create the backgrounds for the game, or work with the other background artist to end up developing it.
For reference as to what style of art the game uses for its backgrounds, look towards Them's Fighting Herds, and mainly Skullgirls: 2nd Encore - the painterly, expressive background art is a key example of what kind of background work should be put inside the game - Something really important to note, separate as many parts of your background into different layers as possible, as all stages in the game actually use a 3D map, with the art textures on top of them to make a papercraft effect.
