Max takes to combat like a seasoned veteran and easily becomes the most promising pilot of a new generation of Robotech Aces.

As the daughter of Admiral Hayes, Lisa could be assigned any position in the new United Earth Defense Forces. But after her fiance, Karl Riber, requests duty on Mars Base Sara to avoid becoming involved in the global war that engulfs Earth, Lisa also joins the military in an attempt to be close to the man she loves. However, the arrival of a massive derelict spacecraft changes everything. Lisa is assigned the key position of First Officer aboard the reverse-engineered Super-Dimensional Fortress SDF-1. In this position, Lisa is in charge of the Veritech Force. She devotes all of her energy to her work.

An amateur pilot and close friend of Lt. Commander Roy Fokker, Rick's initial exposure to the Robotech Odyssey comes when he visits Macross City for the trial launch of the SDF-1. Through a set of wildly improbable circumstances, Rick becomes one of the major players in an intergalaztic war that will determine the fate of the human race. Rick constantly struggles with his inner feelings. He must come to grips with the age-old fears of ascent to manhood as well as the true meaning of courage. He does not approve of violence and his reluctance to accept a comission in the Robotech Defense Force is tainted with an uderlying fear of the unknown.

From the beginning, Lynn Minmei was the "darling" of the crew and 70,000 refugees living aboard the SDF-1 on its long journey back to Earth. Minmei was visiting her aunt and uncle in Macross City, awaiting the historic launch of the SDF-1, when a Zentraedi sneak attack resulted in a castastrophe that pulled the surface of Macross Island into oter space when the SDF-1 performed an untested space fold maneuver. Her natural good looks and girlish ccharms did not go overlooked on the gigantic Space Battle Fortress. Minmei competes in a beauty pageant and becomes "Miss Macross". in this celebrity role, Minmei tries to enrich the morale of the civilians and crew forced to live on this gigantic space ship.

I wasn't originally gonna put Minmei right away because of the fact she's a singing character. She is the only singing character in the whole comic book. The comic does follow the series with some line changes and her singing is in there. She also only had one line in the first comic book, but appears more afterwards.

Claudia Grant holds the important post of Communications Officer on the bridge of the SDF-1. She is in charge of all communications between the space fortress and all internal and external posts. Her job is to corrinate the carious media elements of the huge spaceship as well as maintain defense communications with the united Earth Defense Forces headquarters located in a secret base in the Alaskan wilderness. 

Claudia is in love with Lt. Commander Roy Fokker. It is a romance that goes back to the days when she and Roy were both enrolled in the Robotech Military Academy. However, Claudia maintains a quiet profile as far as her private life is concerned. She does not let her feelings interfere with her duties as a bridge offier. 

Claudia tries to instill a sense of humor on the bridge as a contrast to the "no nonsense" attitude adopted by her close friend and fellow officer Lisa Hayes.

Roy Fokker is the charismatic leader of the famed Skull Squadron. An experienced combat veteran from the recent global civil wars, Roy enlists in the United Earth Government's newly-formed Robotech Defense Force. His assignment is to defend the SDF-1 and its crew. Previous to his military experience, Roy was a famed air circus pilot wiorking with "The Hunter Brothers' Aerial Circus". It was during this period in his life that he met and befriended Rick Hunter - the son of one of owners of the circus and a promising young pilot. 

During Roy's training with the Veritech Fighter, the first in a series of reverse-engineered transformable combat mecha to utilize Robtechnology, he met and fell in love with Claudia Grant. It is his relationship with Claudia and his fascination with the potential of the entire Robotech phenomenon that makes Roy much more than just the hero he has become through his daring combat record.

Ben Dixon is not a typical combat pilot. Although fearless, his light-hearted attitude colors the way he deals with the danger that he must face every day. When he and Max Sterling - his lifelong friend - are assigned to the command of Rick Hunter, an immediate friendship develops between them. This camaraderie gives these three pilots an advantage during their combat missions against the Zentraedi.

As the commanding officer of the reverse engineered Super-Dimensional Battlefortress SDF-1, Captain Gloval has the awesome responsibility of trying to decipher the inner workings of a complex alien technology while dealing with the inevitable problems associated with breaking in a crew of raw recruits. Trained in "old school" military thinking, supported by years of practical first-hand experience as a line commander engaged in conventional warfre, Gloval is faced with the daunting task of defending the Earth against an alien armada of gigantic interstellar spaceships. He approuaches his assignment with the characteristic determination of a war-weary veteran asked to run an attraction at a futuristic theme park. 

When the realization of potential annihilation at the hands of the Zendtraedi forces him to assume the role of combat leader for the combined Earth Defence Force, Gloval's old fighting spirit comes back with a vengeance. HE matches wits and strategy with the leaders of a vast alien force bred, for countless generations, to be the perfect fighting machine.

Leader of the expeditionary armada of Zentraedi warships assigned to search the known reaches of the universe in order to discover the location of a lost Robotech space battle fortress which holds the secrets of Protoculture and the future of the Robotech Masters' empire, Breetai is a classic example of the bi-genetic breeding techniques employed by the Robotech Masters. He is a creature bred for total dedication to the discipline of his masters. He lives for conquest and the thrill of combat, as a totally armoral warrior. Breetai has been conditioned not to think for himself, and to make no decisions except those that deal with military matters.
