Rhetoric Rumble
Project Overview
Please note:
I am very new to this platform so if I have made a mistake in this posting I am more than happy to correct it.
I would love to work collaboratively if possible ideally over Discord; however if that is not possible or something you are comfortable doing we can work around it for the right candidates.
We are casting voice actors for a fast-paced online party game where players debate absurd topics in a competitive “versus” format. The presentation is styled after 1980s/90s arcade fighting games, with exaggerated characters, punchy voice lines, and high-energy delivery.
Players are randomly assigned positions (for/against a topic), argue their case, and an audience votes on the winner.
This project focuses on short “bark lines” (brief, repeatable phrases), not long-form dialogue.
General Voice Direction
Delivery should be stylised, punchy, and expressive
Lines are typically 0.5–2 seconds
Each line must work in isolation
Prioritise clarity, rhythm, and strong character identity
Avoid naturalistic or understated acting styles
Clean, consistent recording quality is required
RolesMale Combatant (Player Character 1)
Accent: American
Tone: Energetic, bold, slightly cheesy 80s action hero
Personality: Overconfident, charismatic
Example lines:
“Too easy!”
“You call that an argument?”
“I was born ready!”
Female Combatant (Player Character 2)
Accent: Open
Tone: Ruthless, sharp, cutting
Personality: Confident, dominant, precise
Example lines:
“That’s your best?”
“Embarrassing.”
“Try harder.”
Announcer
Gender: Male
Tone: Confident, high-energy
Style: Arcade announcer + boxing commentator + game show host
Example lines:
“Let’s get ready to debate!”
“Round one—begin!”
“We have a winner!”
Ring Girl
Gender: Female (young adult voice)
Tone: Sarcastic, bored, disengaged
Role: Provides tonal contrast to the high-energy cast
Example lines:
“Wow. Riveting.”
“Round two, I guess.”
“Finally.”

Audio Format & Requirements
Final in-game audio may be deliberately compressed and stylised to match the retro arcade aesthetic and reduce download size. This will be handled in post-production.
All submissions must be clean and unprocessed.
Required format:
WAV (uncompressed)
48kHz (preferred) or 44.1kHz
24-bit (preferred) or 16-bit
Mono
No compression, limiting, reverb, or heavy processing
No clipping, distortion, or background noise
Do not attempt to pre-style audio. Consistency at source matters more than character effects.
Submission Guidelines
Provide a demo or custom audition lines in the style described
Include multiple takes with variation
Show range within the character
Keep timing tight and delivery consistent
Include your preferred credited name
Credits
All selected performers will be credited in the game’s on-screen credits, including:
Performer name (or alias)
Role
Optional: a link to a personal website, portfolio, or profile page (if provided)
Legal & Participation Requirements
This is an unpaid project. Selected performers will be required to sign a performance release agreement granting rights to use, modify, and distribute the recordings as part of the game and related promotional materials.
The agreement will include a perpetual, worldwide licence for use of the recordings.
No financial compensation or royalties will be provided.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
You must be able to provide proof of age if selected
