Introduction
Hello everyone! This casting call is for the series "Resonance", an original serialized fantasy audio drama. Season 1 will primarily be set at Westbridge University - a prestigious school for the magically gifted, in a modern world where magic is deeply woven into everyday society. The Series follows a group of freshmen navigating their new life as university students- dorms, classes, parties, romance, rivalry -- while a much larger conflict simmers underneath: the growing divide between Mages, those born with magical ability, and Mundanes, those born without it.
We're casting the core, ongoing cast for the season - actors taking these roles should expect to return across multiple episodes, including a dedicated character focused episode(s) later in the season/series that dig into each lead's backstory. Actors cast in leads may also be asked to voice minor or one-off supporting roles as needed throughout the season/series.
All roles are in English, contemporary American Vernacular, except where a specific accent is noted below.
For lead roles (Plus any additional minor-role lines across the season/series), we are offering at this time Credit Only, but if monetized will gladly pay a fair amount, as this is just a hobby and passion project of mine. We will also credit and Showcase our voice actors and anyone who reaches out to help!
SERIES OVERVIEW
Resonance begins with the excitement and freedom of freshman year at Westbridge — new friends, first crushes, discovering one's own magical Affinity, the thrill of competition — before gradually pulling back the curtain on a deeper social conflict between magical society and the Mundanes who live within it, without power, but not without worth. The series blends action, comedy, drama, and romance, and is intended to grow progressively darker as the season develops, with real consequences for its characters — injury, loss, and moral complexity, not just power-scaling.
This is planned as an ongoing, multi-episode season, with several episodes dedicated to individually deepening each of our three leads.
ROLES WE'RE CASTING
NOLAN VALE — Age 19. Our male lead. A Magical Engineering major with the rare Force Conversion Affinity — intelligent, kind-hearted, and quietly self-doubting despite real talent, more comfortable with machines than with the girl he likes. Fiercely protective of his best friend. Needs a voice that can carry awkward comic timing alongside real intensity and physical strain in combat, and the range to grow into the character's larger arc across the season as he comes to understand the true scope of his power.
ADAM MERCER — Age 19. Nolan's best friend since childhood — loud, funny, confident, a little reckless, and the emotional heart of much of the show's comedy. Adam is a Mundane, born with no magical ability whatsoever, and has faced real prejudice for it throughout his life; underneath the jokes is genuine hurt, pride, and determination. Needs strong comedic timing and the range to land vulnerable, serious beats without losing the character's warmth — Adam's arc is central to the series' core themes, not comic relief alone.
LUCILLE "LULU" BEAUMONT — Age 19. A confident, playful mage with a strong Southern/cowboy aesthetic, skilled in Friction Manipulation and Weapon Conjuring. Charming, teasing, quick-witted, and genuinely capable — undecided between a future with the Magic Council or as a Hero. Requires a natural or well-executed Southern/Texan accent. Lulu is a full co-lead with her own arc across the season, not solely a love interest.
DAMIEN CROSS — Age 21. An older student and an early rival for Nolan, gifted with Pressure Manipulation. Cocky, arrogant, experienced, and proud — but not a simple antagonist; raised by Mundane adoptive parents after his biological parents' deaths, Damien's worldview comes from real experience, not cruelty for its own sake. Needs a voice that can carry genuine swagger and condescension while leaving room for later complexity.
Recurring supporting/minor roles (open to actors auditioning for leads or general submissions): Student Helper, Announcer, Dean, assorted Students/Crowd voices, Combat Opponents. These roles recur throughout the season and are a great fit for actors looking for a lighter time commitment. These sort of roles will be posted/auditioned for mainly in the discord, so check there regularly for new roles.
We also will never forget those who audition, if you don't get a role you auditioned for we may reach out to your for a fit for another character instead. We are open to anyone auditioning for any role.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
Auditions close September 18th. Cast actors will be notified by September 25th, with scripts sent on a rolling basis as episodes are finalized. We ask that lines for each episode be returned within 4-7 days of receiving the script — please only audition if you can commit to a recurring recording schedule across the season. We understand we are starting to get to a busy part of the year, so if you are unable to meet a deadline at some point let us know prior
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a passion project first and foremost — we're building an ongoing world we genuinely love, and we're looking for actors who want to grow with it across a full season and beyond. We communicate primarily through Discord, where you'll connect with the rest of the cast and crew as the series develops.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
Clean, dry recordings on a decent mic — no background noise, no added effects or processing. We handle all mixing, EQ, and post-production.
Submit your best 2–3 takes per line rather than every take you recorded.
Files for script reading should be as .wav are preferred , submitted via email. (auditions should be sent through CCC)
We may occasionally request a line re-do, but only when genuinely needed — we know your time is valuable.
Because this is a season-long, ongoing production, we're prioritizing actors who can commit to recurring availability rather than a single episode — we'd love to build a cast that grows with the story.
