Premise of Reflection - Synopsis
A young child is stolen from her home by human eating monsters. Only... she isn't eaten. Through a series of unlikely events, the monster duo Sykkin and Dakkar end up caring for her. But there's more than just caring for a baby at stake here. A monster will find within himself fragments of humanity. And a human girl will discover the monster within herself. Perhaps... within all of us.
First off, I know how discouraging it is to see a non-paid project. So I will preface that it is my hope that this project will be successful and that participants will be able to receive payment in the future for your talents. I also want to recognize that I am a student, as I am sure plenty of you are. So as a time commitment, once you are on board, we will figure things out so that no one feels that the load is too heavy for what they already have to do with other obligations. I'd like to maintain communication through discord, though I am open to other alternatives.
Now, the project itself. Titled Reflection. The goal is for the pilot episode to be between 20-30minutes. 2D animation is what I am expecting, but if 3D becomes a possibility, we will work with that.
The premise of the story, or at least the pilot, is that a young girl is taken from her home by monsters. And through a series of unlikely events, those same monsters end up being the ones stuck with raising her, instead of eating her. The pilot will focus on the events of the monsters going on a 'manhunt', and how the leader of this monster pack, Sykkin, finds just a sliver of humanity within himself. He takes this child back to the Dome (the monster's home), and presents the child to the Queen. Naturally, this breaks all tradition and she is not pleased with his choices. But the Queen respects Sykkin enough to let him live, and instead banishes him and the child, leaving Sykkin forced to raise a human child, and without a clue on how to do so.
The first draft of the script is complete, though I'd like to work through it a bit with the Co-Writer.
I have some concept art to work with alongside the Artist and Animator, but your input is very important to me.
This is my first experience using casting call, though I have a bit of experience with directing, writing, composing, and I am currently dabbling in animation.
Credit will be given to all contributors, and the pilot video will probably debut on Youtube unless an alternative service proves more beneficial for working towards the overall project's success.
If there are questions, concerns, or comments, I am open to discussion.
Again, thank you. I am really excited to start the ball rolling and working with an exciting team.
Character Info
Its still in the works, but some characters may need to do some singing. The only one I'm confident of right now for that is Kinoke. The others are still in the air.
As some may be interested, is the hierarchy of the characters according to prevalence.
In the Pilot, Sykkin is certainly the star character. The protagonist himself. Though if the series progresses, he slips into secondary / supporting. For the series as a whole, Dakkar and Yenja are the stars. And as I detailed earlier, the monster finds his humanity (Dakkar) and the human finds her inner monster (Yenja).
In the Pilot, Dakkar is the secondary, though he upgrades to protagonist in the future. With Yenja, she's a baby in the pilot, and will have no lines, just sounds. Though during the series, she will age along and be the protagonist. Kinoke slowly grows in importance, but during the Pilot she's a supporting character. Though she also has some huge growth during the potential series following. The Queen is the same. But the King remains a minor supporting character throughout. Rigu and Togan are brothers, and are supporting characters. Also, Rychonen is the name of the monster species.
