Two aerospace engineers, Dr. John Johannes and Dr. Phillipa Reed, are the sole survivors of a disaster that wiped out the rest of the human population. Having narrowly escaped Earth using a small prototype spaceship, they focus their attention on broadcasting their lives, struggles, and preserved bits of human culture to the Galaxy in the hope that someone out there is listening.
This will be an audio drama with limited (if any) visuals. There will be two episodes released in a week, with the story following the doctors as they reminisce about the past and cope with the future that lies in front of them. There are a few topics that may not be suitable for everyone, including illness, suicide, detailed description of injury, and strong language. CCC is not the only platform in which responses are coming in from. Good luck to everyone who chooses to audition!

John Johannes is a nervous man in his mid thirties or forties with a regret-filled past. Although he rarely takes initiative, he offers a realistic outlook on life that some would find helpful, others pessimistic. His closest relationship is with his co-worker, Dr. Phillipa Reed, who he's worked with for almost a decade in the field of aerospace engineering. He speaks his mind when angry, but rarely agrees to accept any kind of help that is offered his way. This role has a few singing parts, though you do not have to be a good singer to audition! The last audition line requires singing. Please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRb1-SAAIzs and start at 0:47 so you'll have a good idea of how it goes. (You can record your line while listening to it!)

We weren’t chosen to do any of this! It was completely random– a chance with millions of odds stacked against us. Nobody ever told us ‘Hello, there good sir and madam, be a doll and live on for all of us, why don’t you?’
Think about it, Phillipa, we’re stuck in this tiny tin can with a limited amount of resources and no hope of finding more anytime soon. You’re not thinking about the long-term!
(Excerpt from Fred Paris and the Satin’s ‘In the Still of the Night) I remember… that night in May… the stars were bright… above… I’ll hope… and I’ll pray… to keep your precious love…
Phillipa Reed is a woman in her late thirties who prefers to look on the bright side of most situations. Although her work field is mostly dominated by men, she's not afraid to take charge and is respected by many as a great thinker with a multitude of ideas. She strives to see the good in everyone, though a thin layer of cynicism has been cast upon her through the many years of conflict and war she's seen. She met John on her first day of work and worked alongside him researching foreign technologies. This role has one singing part, but you do not have to be a good singer to audition! The last audition line must be sung. Please refer to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55xQu9eIPIA and start at 1:57 to get a feel of how the line will go. You can even record while listening!

(Startled) There’s an arm under the table?
Looks like we’ve travelled quite a bit, recently! We’re about twelve hundred miles past Mars– a lovely planet. I took as many pictures as I could before I inevitably got bored of it all. It was a nice change, though. Everything seems so much more monotonous on Atlas.
(Excerpt from Harry Nilsson’s ‘Everybody’s Talkin’) Everybody’s talkin’ at me… can’t hear a word they’re sayin’... Only the echoes of my mind… I won’t let you leave my love behind… No, I won’t let you leave… Wah…ah… ah…! I won’t let you leave my love behind…!
*Two voice actors will be cast for this role! One for a higher voice, and one for a lower. This role is reserved for non-binary or genderqueer identifying actors.*
The Computer is the main control system of the spaceship John and Phillipa are on. It has separate monitors across the ship that can see into nearly all rooms and hallways, can manage almost every aspect of the ship automatically, and responds conversationally to answer questions. Not to say that it doesn't violently dislike this, though. It has a strong hatred for people who tell it what to do, and particularly doesn't like John for his attitude towards technology in general.

Hey, Dr. Johannes, how about you step into the lounge for a bit and pop back in when we give you the O. K., how does that sound?
It’s the symbolism behind the name. You humans love that symbolism stuff, don’t you? Well, consider this to be a new addition. I wouldn’t expect you to understand any of this though, Doc, because–
How can I help? (Glitching) H-how can I help? H-hi-hi! I’m your new artificial intelligence acquaintance! How can I be of s-s-s-service?
The 'Arm' was built for the sole purpose of serving anyone and everyone who happens to pass by, whether or not they're aware of it. It's insufferably annoying at best and infuriating at its worst.

Would you like me to grab anything else from the food inventory? We have a lovely array of aged cheeses and whole-wheat crackers.
Could I persuade you to try the gourmet specialty, reheated filet mignon?
Good evening, Doctor. What can I get for you?
Meuller is the lead overseer and coordinator of the rocketry branch John and Phillipa work for. He gets what he wants no matter what, and isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers in the process. He's grossly nationalistic and expects his subordinates to be as well. Meuller disagrees with John's hesitation and careful executions while doing his job, and sees him unfit to have been chosen as the lead rocket designer of his branch.

Johannes, come over here.
(Cooly) Does it look like I give a damn?
(Breathing heavily) When I make a decision, you carry it out. No matter where you are, or what you can and cannot access, I expect you to get this vital information from someone– anyone. Do you understand me?
