Quests for Esteria

Quests for Esteria

Project Overview

-Art by Olmvi

Quests for Esteria is a NO AI stylized low-poly fantasy co-op adventure game inspired by the chaotic, replayable gameplay loops of games like Lethal Company and R.E.P.O., but set in a medieval fantasy world filled with caves, dungeons, strange creatures, valuable loot, and questionable decisions.

You aren't legendary heroes.

You’re convicts.

After being caught stealing, you are brought before Lady Esteria. Rather than leaving you to rot in a cell, she offers you an alternative: work for her as adventurers, complete the quests she assigns, and slowly earn your way toward freedom.

Players begin as low-ranking adventurers and are sent on increasingly dangerous expeditions to recover lost artifacts, valuables, supplies, and occasionally some rather unusual objects for the Queen and the people surrounding her.

Between quests, players return to a tavern that serves as the main hub. Here they can speak with characters, purchase equipment, prepare for the next expedition, and spend time with the rest of their party.

The game is designed around co-op chaos, exploration, comedy, and character interaction. Players will encounter monsters, traps, environmental dangers, useful—and sometimes ridiculous—items, and plenty of opportunities for everything to go horribly wrong.

If the entire party dies during an expedition, the run is lost and the group must try again.

While the game has a humorous and chaotic tone, the world and its characters are meant to have genuine personality. NPCs such as the elegant but patronizing Lady Esteria, the suspiciously charismatic traveling merchant Merrick, and other inhabitants of Esteria help give the game its identity beyond the individual runs.

Voice acting is an important part of bringing these characters to life. I'm looking for actors who are comfortable giving characters personality, experimenting with delivery, and balancing serious fantasy performances with comedic situations.

Quests for Esteria is currently an independent game project in active development. The goal is to create a fun multiplayer fantasy experience that feels like a group of completely unqualified adventurers somehow surviving long enough to become actual heroes.

Or, at the very least, surviving long enough to get paid.

  • Project Update — New Creature Roles Now Open!

    🧌 Blind Orc

A large, blind creature that navigates primarily through sound. This role consists mostly of deep grunts, growls, heavy breathing, mumbling, and whistling, rather than normal spoken dialogue.

We’re looking for someone who can make the creature expressive purely through its noises — whether it’s confused, searching, irritated, curious, or charging directly toward an unfortunate adventurer.

    👁️ Changeling Mimic

A disturbing shapeshifting creature capable of imitating the sounds and voices it hears.

The Changeling should make players question whether the sound they just heard was actually their teammate… or something pretending to be them.

    🌑 Shadow Man

A mysterious humanoid creature lurking within the darker areas of Esteria's caves and dungeons.

The Shadow Man should sound unnerving, unnatural, and barely human, utilizing things such as whispers, strained breathing, distant vocalizations, raspy noises, and sudden aggressive sounds.

Rather than constantly roaring or screaming, this creature should make players uncomfortable simply by hearing it somewhere nearby in the darkness.

  • Working on UI

I an happy to announce that I now have a helper that is going to be having a hand in the project! Olmvi will be helping in the creation of ui elements and icons for the game! I also have worked on making them all functional… Next. Peer 2 Peer mulitplayer(I’m not looking forward to this but I also am ready for the chaos that it’ll bring)

  • Rye - Femboy Traveling bard and trader has been added as a role

A new role has been added! Feel free to audition for him if you wish! he's a sweet passive boy in the hellscape that is the caves and the dungeons!

Elegant • Calm • Confident • Slightly Aloof
The elven Queen of Esteria. She carries herself with grace and authority without sounding overly formal all the time. Her voice should be smooth, mature, feminine, and regal, with room for dry humor, confidence, and softer moments, also tends to be patronizingly maternal. If I had to compare them to characters I have heard before it would be the English VA for frieren for freiren beyond journeys end

Keep in mind: These voice lines are made as general as possible and can be altered if you think you can fit the character better than I have written it.

  • (Player didnt take any quests) “…No? I see. Then why, exactly, are you still standing before me? Off you go. Come back when you’ve remembered that my time isn't for a peasant who doesn't make themselves useful.”

  • "You've been brought before me because I have need for an individual of a more... questionable... morality. Prove yourself useful and you may just earn your freedom." Mysterious • Charismatic • Eccentric • Slightly Shady
A traveling tiefling merchant inspired by the merchant style of character. We’re looking for a gravelly, charismatic male voice with a theatrical personality. Friendly enough to trust, suspicious enough that you probably shouldn’t. If I were to imagine it to be close to any characters I’ve heard before it’d be something between the Resident Evil 4 merchant and Jack sparrow from pirates in the caribbean

Energetic • Friendly • Playful • Expressive Pebble is the excitable calico catgirl bartender who runs the adventurers’ tavern. Her voice should be bright, youthful, animated, and extremely friendly without becoming overly squeaky or cartoonish. If I was to compare her to characters I have heard before it would be Mint in Neverness to everness or Hu tao from Genshin Impact

  • “Hey, hey! Come sit down! You look like you’ve had a day.”

Playful • Charming • Flirtatious • Free-Spirited • Slightly Mischievous

Rye is an adult traveling bard who wanders from caves to dungeons with his lute, collecting stories, performing songs, and somehow finding himself involved in everyone else’s business. He’s cheerful, charismatic, and almost impossible to embarrass. He loves teasing his companions, exaggerating stories, and acting much more innocent than he actually is.

His voice should be youthful, light, and androgynous, with a soft masculine tone that can comfortably lean feminine. Think of the bright, airy, playful energy of Venti from Genshin Impact as a reference point, rather than an exact impression. Rye should sound naturally energetic and expressive, with a musical quality to his speech—as though he could break into song at any moment.

We’re looking for a higher-pitched male / androgynous voice with good emotional range. His normal delivery should feel relaxed and bubbly, but the actor should also be able to pull the playfulness away for surprisingly sincere or emotional moments.

Rye tends to speak with:

  • Playful teasing and occasional flirtation

  • Dramatic storytelling and exaggerated reactions

  • Confident little laughs, giggles, or amused hums

  • Genuine warmth underneath all of the joking

  • A noticeably softer, more vulnerable voice when he becomes serious

He shouldn't sound extremely childish, squeaky, or like a stereotypical anime boy. Rye is an adult, just one with a naturally youthful and feminine-leaning voice.

Deep • Guttural • Intimidating • Primal • Unsettling

The Blind Orc is a large, dangerous creature that roams the caves and dungeons of Quests for Esteria. Unable to see, they rely heavily on sound and instinct to navigate and locate potential threats.

This is a mostly nonverbal role. The performance will consist primarily of grunts, growls, strained breathing, irritated murmuring, low mumbling, pain sounds, and aggressive vocalizations, with occasional whistling. The character should still feel expressive despite having very little understandable dialogue.

We’re looking for a deep, rough, guttural voice with a heavy, imposing presence. The Orc shouldn’t simply sound like a mindless monster—they should feel like an actual creature thinking, listening, becoming suspicious, frustrated, or angry based entirely on vocal performance.

Deep • Gravelly • Monstrous • Predatory • Unsettling

A horrifying creature with a massive, tooth-lined maw and a smaller face hidden inside. We’re looking for a very deep, gravelly, guttural voice, somewhat reminiscent of the heavy, rumbling quality of Venom from Spider-Man, while still giving the creature its own identity.

The performance should feel like the voice is coming from something far larger and less human than it appears. Dialogue or vocalizations can include deep growls, rumbling breaths, snarls, distorted mumbling, clicking, and strained guttural noises.

The actor should also be comfortable performing creature screeches — sharp, piercing shrieks and sudden high-pitched cries that contrast heavily with its normal deep voice. Some sounds may rapidly shift from a low growl into a violent screech.(if not I can have someone make sounds for this it would be cool to have both)
