The Village Experiment S2 (Minecraft) Lore-SMP

Project Overview

NOVARA NEEDS YOU!

One week ago today, President Lucas Hernandez and his administration unveiled a new national program, calling on the people of Novara to help secure the future of our country.

For the first time, citizens are being given the opportunity to journey beyond Novara's borders and establish new communities in the lands beyond.

Build a home. Build a community. Build something that will last for generations.

Those who answer the call today may one day have their names written into Novaran history.

The future of Novara begins with you.

At its core, The Village Experiment is modded survival Minecraft with an ongoing story. Like other 2837 Productions projects, it is fellow content creator friendly, whether you choose to record or stream all of it. Players are free to survive, build, explore, and interact much like they would in a normal survival world, all while an evolving narrative develops around them.

The Village Experiment is an improv and player-focused Minecraft series with two major additions to the usual SMP format.

The first is a larger overarching story that develops around the players, with its direction and events changing based on the decisions they make throughout the series.

There are essentially two stories happening at the same time. The main story is entirely player-driven, focusing on the characters, their relationships, conflicts, alliances, and the community they create together. The second follows the larger consequences of their actions and how the decisions made within the settlement can affect Novara and the world around them.

While these are technically two separate stories, they frequently intersect. Events in the larger story can directly affect the players, while choices made by the players can change what happens in the larger narrative. Because of this, the two stories influence each other throughout almost the entire series.

The second major addition is that the series is modded. Mods are chosen with a purpose rather than simply being added for more content. Some are included to balance out other mods or mechanics, while others are added specifically so they can be incorporated into locations, events, particular story beats throughout the series, or decorations for builds.

Modpack: [LINK HERE]

Please download and test the modpack before applying to make sure you can run it properly. You don't need to join a server or do anything specific just make sure the pack launches and runs well enough on your computer.

This season will follow Settlement 12 and its guards, a Novaran Special Forces unit known as the Sun Seekers. The members of the Sun Seekers have already been handpicked for their roles.

You do not need to watch Season 1 to understand this season, as the two stories are almost entirely independent of one another. However, watching Season 1 will provide additional context about Novara and the larger world surrounding the story.

Sessions & Scheduling

The series itself will be run similarly to an SMP, with the server opening during scheduled recording periods called Sessions. The first session will be around 2 weeks after the cast is chosen and in a dedicated discord server. These Sessions will run from 7–9 PM EST on EVERY Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for 14 SESSIONS. SERVER WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE REST OF THE TIME if you cant make the time stated please don't apply

Recording & Roleplay

Throughout the series, I will be recording the players from Spectator Mode to capture the events of each session.

Every player is also allowed and encouraged to record or stream their own perspective and post their own content from the series.

During sessions, you are expected to remain in character for the majority of the time. Breaking character occasionally is completely fine, especially when necessary, but for the most part you should interact with the world and other players as your character.

In-Character Conflict & Zero-Tolerance Policy

All conflict between characters must remain in character. Arguments, rivalries, betrayals, disagreements, and other conflict are completely acceptable as part of the story, but they should never become genuine out-of-character hostility between the people participating.

Blatant disrespect, harassment, or hostility toward other players, staff, or myself will not be tolerated.

If you have an issue with another player, a staff member, something happening during the project, or anything else that is making you uncomfortable, bring it to me. Do not keep the issue to yourself. I would rather know about a problem so it can be addressed than have it continue or become worse because nobody said anything.

I hold a zero-tolerance policy regarding blatant disrespect or harassment. Depending on the severity of the situation, you may be removed from the project without warning if I deem it necessary. Serious violations will also result in you being permanently barred from participating in any future 2837 Productions or Ivan2837_ related projects or content.

Character conflict stays between the characters. If there is a real problem between players, bring it to me.

For your audition, create a character and submit a short in-character audition. There is no set script or scenario. The main purpose of the audition is to show how you would portray your character and improvise within the series. The character you audition with will, at their core, be the character you plan to play, but adjustments may be made to better fit them into the narrative and world of the story. Any additional information about yourself can be included in the description of your audition or added at the end of the recording not required but let me know if you plan to stream or record and don't forget to add your discord.

Recorders will be kept separate from the rest of the cast to prevent bias or potential issues between players and recorders. Each recording session will normally last two hours, and the scheduled days and times can be found in the project description, so please make sure you are available before applying.

You will be paid $20 per recording session. If a session runs longer than the scheduled two hours, you will receive an additional $5 for every 15 minutes of extra recording time. All payments will be made through PayPal.
