Pulse (The Animated Series)
Project Overview
A band of teens enrolled in an academy for music, learning to fight with music-weapon hybrids called Pulsors. As they navigate their personal and social lives, they also come to realize that Pax Academy has an agenda...
The main characters face a multitude of obstacles; some of them come out, some of them are misgendered, and some of them just aren't accepted for who they are. But they face another great challenge, too... their school teaching them things even their instructors are uneasy about. The students learn that the enemy doesn't go to another school... the corruption lies within their own walls.
The deadline is just there because it was required haha, it's not accurate so don't worry! There's no time crunch, you guys are fine ^^
Discord is preferred so that we have a way to collaborate after you've been casted. Just an FYI! Also, if it's ever stated that your character can sing, please give us an example! You may use any song you like ^^

Casting
If you've been casted, please head over to the Discord channel and introduce yourself! My Discord acc has been listed below. ^^
Marc Avery is the main character. He's cool, confident, and likes to have fun. He likes competitions. He resents his father for leaving, but all in all is generally outgoing and adventurous. Any voice is fine for Marc! I'm looking for a range of voices in my cast, and Marc is no exception!
(Calm, rational) "Look, I'm sure that whatever's going on has a perfectly good explanation."
(Assuring, confident) "This is what we've trained for. We got this."
(Sullen, kind of irritated) "He could've stuck around. He's supposed to be my dad."
Cal is a fighter. She's never afraid to speak her mind or start a friendly argument, but she's always easily quelled by the stars. She loves to have fun and is a very playful and teasing person.
Any voice is fine for Cal! She has Irish heritage, but this doesn't have to influence her voice at all.
(Amazed, kind of wistful) "Look at those stars. Shining above us like little hopes in the sky... it really reminds you where you can find beauty, you know?"
(Arguing) "Oh, I'm not telling you that I don't agree. I'm telling you that you're wrong."
(Teasing) "As long as you're willing to wear that outside, you have no dignity to speak of."
Oliver is very clumsy, awkward, shy, and cute. He gets flustered very easily (especially around Luke) and tends to screw up conversations when he's embarrassed. He's a closeted gay, so he always gets kind of quiet and awkward whenever sexualities are brought up. His voice is a little higher than average. He hails from Paris, so a French accent is ideal for his character! Oliver must be able to speak French.
(Nervous) "I'm not so sure this is a good idea... what I am sure about, though, is that something is going to go wrong."
(Awkward, flustered, ashamed of himself. He's just been complimented by his crush.) "What flute? Oh, you mean this old thing? I've had it for ages. No, that was a lie. I got it yesterday and I've... been polishing it ever since.)
(Trying to pass his clumsiness off as nothing) "Oh, me? I'm fine. I just bumped into a table on the way here. And a doorframe. And five people. ...I'm a disaster."
Luke is very kind, a great listener, and he always protects his friends. He's a very gentle soul, wise and perceptive, too; he guesses at Oliver's feelings for him and secretly learns he feels the same way.
Any voice is fine for Luke!
(Gentle, kind) "I'm not here to judge you, Oliver. I'm here to listen."
(Sadly) "I just wish I knew why I wasn't good enough for him."
(Protesting) "Father, I'm practically an adult already! Don't you trust me enough to let me make my own decisions?"
A die-hard Drama girl. She loves plays, and improv, and rom-coms, and shopping for shoes, and... well, she could talk for hours. She's very energetic and peppy, and loves the spotlight. Confident, sassy, unafraid. SHE MUST BE ABLE TO SING.
We need an ideally peppy and energetic voice for Alyssa, one who can command attention in a room. Any accent is fine!
(Firm and commanding. She won't take no for an answer.) "Purple is the best colour. It's an objective fact. The fact that it looks amazing on me is irrelevant."
(Judgy and then smug) "How do you find anything in this mess? Me, I have a system. It's colour-coded. Sticky notes, baby!"
(Confident and sassy) "I'm here to steal the show. Where do I audition?"
Brady is, first and foremost, non-binary! They/them, please. They prefer quiet places where they can think and play their guitar. Sort of Luka from Miraculous, but more socially awkward unless they're with someone they're really comfortable with. Their time with their dad has taught them to make people work for their trust, but once they trust you, they show you their heart of gold. MUST BE ABLE TO SING; nothing too fancy or loud, mostly just under their breath to sound out notes or lyrics as they write songs.
Their voice must be a little lower and casual, the kind that puts you at ease whenever you hear it and assures you that you're in a safe space. Brady has an Italian mother, but that doesn't have to factor into their voice.
(Cool and relaxed. They're around someone they're comfortable with.) "I've been thinking a lot lately. Thinking musically, that is."
(A little embarrassed but proud) "I finished my song last night. It's... well, I'll let you listen to it."
(Gentle and honest) "I really like spending time with you guys."
Melody is very cheerful and passionate about her music. She gets easily angry and defensive about her height. She likes songs that scream rebellion and she loves the idea of rioting. As a young lass she took to the streets in search of stardom. It didn't exactly work out.
(Passionately) "Oh, I'm not Melody anymore. Tonight, I'm Treblemaker!"
(Thoughtful. She's helping Brady write a song.) "Okay, try a C, then a G. As for the lyrics, I'm thinking night and light, or maybe bright and white. Ooh, try a minor chord."
(Slightly irritated) "What? No, I don't want to dance, I'm trying to hear the song. What, you think I came to this dance to dance? Go away."
William Paxton is Jeremy's father. He's in charge of Paxcorp, which owns Pax Academy. He's a secretive character, cold and reserved. He rarely shares anything with his associates and looks down on small talk.
(Charismatic, narrating the orientation film) "And that is why Pax Academy's primary focus is protecting our students."
(Getting angry) "The enemy is prepared to attack, and so should you be. They're not going to wait for surrender, so they certainly won't get ours."
(Cold, a little creepy) "I think you three know more than you should, don't you agree?"
Jeremy is William Paxton's son. Jeremy is cool and easygoing, and has a strong sense of right and wrong. He knows that what his dad is doing is messed up, and he tries actively to make him see reason. Jeremy's primary focus is protecting the kids, and seeing that they're safe and well-cared for. In Season Two, he becomes a lot more stressed and anxious, because William's plan is putting the students in danger.
(Teaching the class in Season One) "So, to use your Pulsor, all you need to do is play a few notes. Marc, try out your guitar. See how it feels."
(Anxious, concerned, but earnest) "I'm sick of all this stuff happening. So I'm going to be honest with you. The students at the other academy aren't evil. Paxcorp is."
(Angry, trying to reason with William) "They're just kids, Dad! They didn't do anything wrong! And you're trying to pit our students against them for no good reason!"
Luke's dad is mean and unsympathetic. He doesn't understand Luke's sexuality, nor does he want to.
(Confused, kind of irritated. His son has just told him that he's not going to marry his betrothed.) "Don't be absurd, Lukas. She's the best option for you. Her family is held in very high esteem."
(Disapproving and cold. He's just seen Luke's dog, but he thinks it's Marc's.) "Why do you allow such a disgusting creature to be so close to you, Lukas? It's a wild animal, not meant for domestication."
(Proud and pleased. He's introducing Luke to his betrothed.) "Lukas, I'd like you to meet Leila. She's top of her class at her school, and her parents own seven companies. I think you should get along very nicely."
Mr. Travert is Oliver's dad. He's a little brisk and businesslike, but still loves his son. He's a little confused and caught off-guard when Oliver comes out to him, but he still loves him.
(Kind of brisk and stressed. Oliver is trying to talk to him while he's working.) "Non, Olivier, je travaille au moment. Reviens un peu plus tard."
(A little nervous, worried about Oliver) "Nous l'avons envoyé à l'étranger pour cette semestre. Il n'a jamais été si loin. Je suis un peu nerveux pour lui."
(Gentle and kind. He's talking to Oliver.) "Olivier... j'était un peu méchant. Et pour ça je suis désolé. Je t'aime, mon fils."
Mme. Travert is gentle and kind and loving to everyone; a trait she passed down to her son. She's sick on and off, and she loves the frequent visits from Oliver.
(Excited and happy. She just saw Oliver.) "Bonsoir, mon minou! Comment va l'école?"
(Gently) "Olivier est honnete. La monde pourrait lui faire du mal. Mais il a ses amis pour lui protéger."
(Light and teasing, but there's an undertone of sadness.) "J'en ai marre de cette chambre. Bientot ils vont réserver cette chambre pour moi chaque fois je suis malade."
We need someone in charge of additional voices!

We'll need some cool backgrounds for this project!
Say something you think would fit
I need some people on music! There is A LOT of music involved with this series (since, y'know, the plot revolves around a music school) so we'll need a lot of instrument sounds and stuff.
