Final Fantasy IX FanDub was a massive (completed) undertaking that launched in 2010. It has become one of the most-watched Final Fantasy Fandubs on YouTube with over 230,000 Views. We've since expanded to create a playable mod called Project Terra with many of our Voice Actors reprising their prior roles. Together, we are creating a mod that adds voice-overs and a modernized (but faithful) recomposition of the Final Fantasy IX OST. You will be contributing to one of the most ambitious community projects the Final Fantasy franchise has ever seen, and we aim to deliver an exceptional experience. As we are working with intellectual property, any contribution is voluntary, but our contributors will be credited for their involvement. If you have the skills to be of help, please join our public Discord.

Important:
This project is a commitment in which over 120 Voice Actors, Composers, and Audio Engineers are voluntarily putting aside significant workloads to produce an outstanding result. This is not a YouTube Fandub where we can easily swap out a Voice Actor that has to leave the project with commitments still in place. If this happens, the team will be required to recast the Voice Actor and all prior dialog for that character will need to be re-recorded. This also puts additional stress on the Audio Engineers and sets back deadlines for new Voice Actors that need to catch up. You must be active on Discord and you must be responsive to communication when a member of our management team reaches out. We are very accommodating when it comes to extensions.

Applications/Auditions will be assessed based on your level of Voice Acting, the quality of your microphone, and your ability to minimize things like background noise, audio peaking, and quality loss from noise suppression.

If you have challenges with sound reflection, some of our Voice Actors have navigated these hurdles by covering a thick blanket over themselves and their microphone. It really depends on the acoustics of your environment. Most importantly... Have fun!

  • Auditions have Re-Opened!

    With over 100 talented Voice Actors following the project, I'd like to take a moment to share that Auditions have reopened. This is a good opportunity to share with your friends/colleagues to submit their demo if they want to join our recurring cast.

    Keep in mind, Project Terra is not a YouTube Dub. We're dubbing official Steam copies of Final Fantasy IX into a playable user experience, as well as a faithful freshening up of the soundtrack.

    If you submit your Audition and haven't heard back within 48 hours, please don't let it discourage you. We have strict standards when it comes to a Voice Actor's skill and their room acoustics. Our Project Director is also managing a lot of different talent pools on the Discord. Your best shot at joining the project is to ensure your acting is top-notch and that there isn't any room echo being picked up on your microphone.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -- PLEASE READ
This is a Lead Role. Our project typically progresses in sections every one to three weeks (depending on the size). You will need a decent microphone and strong acoustics. We cannot utilize any Voice Actor recording in an environment that is picking up noticeable room echo. You will also be expected to commit to the role until completion. If you bow out prior to completion, everything that has been recorded will need to be scrapped and re-recorded by another Voice Actor.

CHARACTERISTICS
This is a very challenging role. Dagger is highly emotional and shows this both internally and externally. She commands most of the story trying to learn of Alexandria's suspicious activities that are happening behind her back. Nobody in Alexandria will believe her, so she attempts to flee to Lindblum to seek her Uncle's assistance. As she becomes increasingly more aware of the Queen's involvement (her mother), she starts realizing that not only is the welfare of her kingdom in jeopardy, but also of her mother. At the center of all this is a foreign memory of a massive ocean storm that is somehow connected to her past.

DIRECTION
The Voice Actor needs an authentic British accent. You don't need to be fluent with a North American accent -- in-fact, it will help with character development if you tend to struggle with it. That being said, being proficient in both a British dialect and a North America dialect will help win you this role.

Your first monologue needs to be very grounded, but approached from a place of love. It is a very emotional moment between Dagger and Eiko. This line is spoken when Dagger finally reflects on what she remembers about the night of the storm.

The second monologue for Dagger / Princess Garnet is during the You're Not Alone segment. Zidane is having an identity crisis, pushing through a barrage of enemies with an severe injury, abandoning most of his friends to fend for themselves. At the end, Dagger steps in and helps him snap out of it with this monologue. It's still approached from an emotional state, but much more of a "Snap out of it" perspective.

Please record both monologues in a British accent and a North American accent.
