Project: SPARROW | Black Male/Non-Binary Talent Needed!
Project Overview
Director's Note : Hello, and thank you for taking the time to audition for this casting call! This is a private audition, focusing on the character André Maeda. There was a significant imbalance of auditions submitted between him and the remaining protagonists' cast, and I would like to rectify that in any way that I can.
I am looking for a more grounded portrayal. While these characters and the world are inspired by anime, I am not too keen on the tropes and "quirks" related to the genre's general voice direction.
There are additional notes on his character below. Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to viewing your submissions. Please share this casting call on social media to any black, male/AMAB voice actors.

A crude and asocial young man, André is not one to mince his words, and leaves nothing to interpretation. His cold demeanor is a repellent to most and he prides himself on that fact. However, this is all a clever ruse. He has more love to give than anyone else in the world. But that bleeding heart of his was buried a long time ago, and he doesn't remember where he left it.
André's voice is smoky and sharp, always spoken with an uninterested, almost facetious tone. His words carry like bricks; they are often thrown at those on the receiving end or used to build walls to keep others from getting too close.
Points of Reference:

- Cyborg (DC Animated Movies)

- Marshal Lee (Adventure Time)
Additional Notes: André is biracial. He is both African American and Japanese. Use of AAVE is encouraged, but not required for consideration. He has been provided 2 differing sets of lines, depending on the auditioner's preference.
