Project Overview

Hello everyone! This casting call is for an English fan dub of the Nightcord at 25:00 stories in Project Sekai a.k.a Colorful Stage! To do this, I need some voice actors to help bring this story to life.

What is This?

An English dub of the stories featuring the group Nightcord at 25:00 in the game Project Sekai. I only plan to dub to main stories, none of the event stories or conversations you can encounter throughout the game. 

For those of you unfamiliar, Project Sekai: Colorful Stage is a rhythm game developed by Colorful Palette and published by Sega. The story segments of the game follow five groups of musicians and their journeys into a strange world called SEKAI. This project will be focusing on one of the groups, Nightcord at 25:00, which consists of Kanade Yoisaki, Mafuyu Asahina, Ena Shinonome, and Mizuki Akiyama. Despite never having met in real life, these four have made several songs together and have gotten to know each other in the process.

Important Things to Note:

1. This project is just for fun, so you are not required to have any previous voice acting experience. However, we do ask that you are passionate about this, and put effort into the work you submit. We want to make a product that we can all be proud of, so put your best foot forward!

2. Please record using a decent mic and have as little background noise as possible. Make sure your voice is clear in your recordings. 

3. All communication and files will be sent through Discord, so please make a Discord account if you do not already have one. 

4. Though I consider myself fairly lenient with deadlines, it is important that you submit your work in a timely manner. I understand that there are factors outside of your control, and if that is the case, please contact me as soon as you can. If you go unresponsive and do not contact me for an extended period of time, I may remove you from the cast. 

5. This should go without saying, but please be respectful to me and all fellow cast members. If I ask you to change something or offer you criticism on anything you submit, it is nothing personal and there is no need to be rude. I will treat all cast members with respect, and I hope you will treat everyone the same.

Audition Notes:

1. Please do multiple takes of each line in your audition. It allows me to see your range and lets you try different pitches, accents, or emotions for each line.

2.  Feel free to leave your discord tag in the description of your audition. It helps me contact you if for some reason I am unable to via CCC. 

3. You may audition for multiple characters, but keep in mind that you will most likely not be cast as multiple characters. This story does not have a lot of voice-acted characters, so I would like a bit of variety in the voices.

  • That's a wrap!

    Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! I'm super surprised with the turnout of this project and listening to some of the auditions, you all seem very talented! Though the deadline has passed, feel free to resubmit or edit your audition if you feel the need to. This deadline is more of a way to let you know I'm going to start picking the roles and reaching out to potential cast members. I should have all of the roles finalized by August 18th, though this is not a hard deadline. Once again, thank you all so much for your interest in this project! Kanade is the lead composer of Nightcord at 25:00 and has been composing since she was a child. She attends high school online, so very rarely leaves her house unless she needs to. Kanade does not show her emotions very intensely, tending to be very introspective and personal. 

Voice:

Kanade's voice should be soft and slightly whispery, not varying in pitch too much. Kanade may not put a lot of emotion into her voice, but it should still feel warm and gentle.

Mafuyu "Yuki" Asahina

Mafuyu Asahina is the main lyricist of Nightcord at 25:00. She seems good-natured, considerate, and excels in school. However, if you go below the surface, she feels empty and alone. She puts on an act of being perfect but deep down, feels like she doesn't know who she really is. 

Voice:

Mafuyu sounds very different when she tries to act "perfect" compared to how she is when she drops the act. Her "perfect" voice is full of emotion and compassion, and when she drops the act, her voice sounds monotone and empty.

The first two audition lines should be full of emotion, whereas the last one should be where Mafuyu drops the act and shows how empty she is inside. 

  • Hm... I want everyone else to do what they want to do. Seeing others happy makes me happy. 

  • *chuckle* Yeah. You all work so hard, so I'm just trying to do my part as well. We may not know each other's faces or real names, but since we're composing together, I want to do my best too. 

  • (emotionless) Strange? If I'm strange, then so are all of you. Be honest... you all want to disappear more than anyone.

Ena "Enanan" Shinonome

Ena Shinonome is the artist for Nightcord at 25:00. She cares about her image and her appearance and when she's not drawing, spends a lot of her time posting on social media. She's very emotional and stubborn, often seeing situations in black and white. Nonetheless, she cares about her fellow members of N25 and puts a lot of effort into her work, often staying up for hours to make sure it's perfect.

Voice: 

Ena's voice should be relatively high-pitched. She's quick to anger, raising her voice when she does, and can sometimes come across as annoyed.

  • (angry) Huh? What's that supposed to mean? So what was going through your head while I went off about how amazing you were without even knowing the truth? Were you just having a laugh at my expense?

  • (very upset) Why? Why is it that all these people with talent think it's okay to belittle me?! Making me look like an idiot!

Mizuki "Amia" Akiyama

Mizuki Akiyama is the main MV maker for Nightcord at 25:00. They like fashion and have a fondness for anything cute. Mizuki is generally carefree and laid-back, but often finds themselves being the peacemaker of the group when things get tense. 

Voice:

Their voice is a medium pitch and pretty carefree, but still powerful. They can sound a bit excited at times, especially when talking about something they care about or enjoy. Their voice should be pretty gender-neutral, perhaps a little more on the feminine side. 

NOTE: Mizuki's gender is currently unconfirmed by the game's developers, though they are heavily implied to be nonbinary and/or transfem. Here, I'll be using they/them pronouns for Mizuki.

  • I also like cute clothes and I wear them every day! I make my own clothes too. People are sometimes surprised that I make and wear such cute clothes, though. 

  • (teasing) Probably because you've been sleeping too much. I bet you've been asleep since we stopped working yesterday, haven't you, Enanan?

  • Can we at least talk about this a little more, Yuki! This is all way too sudden...

Hatsune Miku, the VIRTUAL SINGER, is the one who calls the group into SEKAI and talks to them as they visit. 

Voice:

Her voice should be very robotic and remain fairly monotone. She should sound very emotionless and empty. Unlike Mafuyu's voice, however, it shouldn't feel cold or sad. 

*NOTE: In the actual game, the actual voicebank for Miku is used as her voice. I do not have Miku's voicebank, so I'll be using an actual voice actor for the parts of Miku

  • I'm out of time. It's up to you now, Kanade. It's up to you to save her. 

  • This is her SEKAI. A lonely world born from her feelings.

Kanade's father is a composer and is the one that inspired Kanade to start composing herself. He can put a lot of pressure on himself, feeling like he's failed when his creations aren't perfect. 

Voice:

His voice should be in the deeper range, and should be fairly soft. It should also be a bit shaky, as if he's anxious or on edge.

Akito Shinonome is a member of the music group, Vivid Bad Squad, and Ena's younger brother. Akito Shinonome seems fairly laid-back, but can become very driven and passionate about things he cares about, including music. 

Voice:

Akito's voice should be in the deep range and should sound chill and nonchalant. His voice can sometimes come across as aggressive or angry, though he doesn't usually mean it to. 

  • (annoyed) Ena, it's the middle of the night. Keep it down will ya?

  • (confident) That's why we have to give this crowd a good performance. We're gonna turn this event on its head.
