Project Overview

This is the second round of auditions for PROJECT GUNMA.WHAT IS PROJECT GUNMA?
Project Gunma takes place in the town of Saikimicho, Japan, in the year 2018.
You play as Hideo who after getting framed for his father's murder and serving thirteen years in a federal penitentiary, teams up with his siblings Ryota and Hana, intending to bring the killer to justice. Along the way, they unravel their father's secrets that have been buried, as the past clashes with the present. The game's story line is scattered across multiple different acts (including a prologue and epilogue).
A town facing rapid growth, the citizens of Saikimicho are varied and peculiar in their own ways. From helping an American podcaster give a speech to an audience of deaf individuals, helping a sick tour guide who's stuck on the toilet with guiding people around the town and actors on a popular drama show about meth cooking using the show as a front to build their empire in plain sight, there is always someone new to meet.
The game contains mature content suitable only for adults, such as violence, nudity and foul language. It explores themes such as racism, sexism, morality, vengeance, corruption and social satire.
Made to be accessible to a wide variety of audiences. An RPG for people who usually do not play them.
KEEP THIS IN MIND...The direction of the game's voice acting is primarily that of a TV drama, with realistic characters played seriously. Emotive voice acting, but not in the route of an English anime dub. People sounding like people. Please do not audition sounding like an anime character. Think media like Dexter, Better Call Saul and Grand Theft Auto IV.
Must be 18 and over. We do not hire kids or teenagers.
You must have some experience, at least two-three years. We are not looking for any fresh VAs looking to refine their craft, you must have a good amount of experience under your belt or your audition will be rejected.
The game's side content is usually more experimental, with a balance of comedy and missions that play it straight.
Children are never present. Do not send in audition tapes that primarily focus on a child-like performance, they will be rejected.
Zero tolerance for AI enhancement tech or AI generation.
Don't feel the need to constrain yourself to an American accent. Welsh, Irish, Aussie. Feel free to VA in your native accent unless the role otherwise specifies something different.
The ability to sing reasonably well will be a very valuable skill set, though not required unless you're applying for Vocalist/Rapper.
We do every scene in-person, with other actors on Discord calls. The director (Abigail M) will be consistently present. Exceptions apply, but this is usually the standard way we record.
Work is scheduled to begin in February-March 2026.
These are big deciding factors and extremely important. Make sure these are in check!
Good equipment. (Fantastic microphone quality and soundproofing go a long way!)
Little to no background noise or echo.
Expressive, varied and realistic line delivery.
The voice work will be pretty extensive story-wise. The side missions are also mostly voiced. The work will be done when it fits everyone's schedule. It could take months, weeks or just a few hours depending on the role you chose. The main story is aiming for a 6 hour length.
The project is ran by Abigail M, and is an independent title.
AN IMPORTANT NOTEPROJECT GUNMA is a grounded piece of work which strives to not pull punches, and we wish to portray ruthless criminals and degenerate human beings, with little to no moral compass, accurately. Themes of sexism, homophobia, antisemitism, racism and more are present in the world and uttered by antagonistic characters. Be sure you are okay with this before applying, as the project's direction is highly unlikely to change to accommodate any personal triggers.
SALARY DETAILSThe work is paid. Specific payment can be sorted out and negotiated. THE AMOUNTS LISTED IS WHAT YOU WILL BE PAID BY THE HOUR THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON THE GAME. Take these as estimates that we can discuss and bend as we please, but please keep in mind the project's size and financials. You are paid via PayPal, though if you are hired and cannot use PayPal, we will see about discovering an alternate method.
A free copy of the game will be given to everyone who contributed and had their work end up in the final product.
SEKOMI is currently being developed in RPG Maker MV and the goal is to release it on Steam and Itch.io in the late 2020s or early 2030s.

His confidence and honesty is a big strength. His ambition is his greatest flaw. He will go to great lengths to accomplish a task he deems personal, putting his own life at risk, and without realizing it at times, others. He's helpful, lamenting to himself that he needs to "learn how to say no". However, like his father, he can get quickly hostile if he's pushed in a certain direction. Growing up as a delinquent made him rowdy in his teenage years, in his adult years, he calmed down, but there's still some of that in him. Silently laments that most of his life has been spent wasting away in a cell, blocking out most emotion that run particularly deep.
