WELCOME TO MY NEWEST ZELDA FANFIC NARRATION PROJECT!! :)
Who am I and why bother?
As a super fan of The Legend of Zelda series, I have written fan fiction for it since I was a teenager (I'm in my late 30s now!) I've also earned a Bachelor's in the creative writing sphere and have admired several Zelda-centric creators on YouTube for a very long time. As such, a couple of years ago I had the idea to bring my fanfics to life by having them narrated by said creators (and myself, as I also have a theater background.) I have completed two projects so far on my YouTube channel, Rin's Legendarium, and it has been a LOT of work but an absolute blast! So, if you're a Zelda fan like me, and you'd like to be part of a unique concept that I've rarely seen implemented on YouTube, you should audition! :) I'd love to have you on the team!
My previous projects:
I have two completed projects: Rise to Ruin and Path of Shadow.
Rise to Ruin is a Ganondorf origin story, specifically focused on the Ganondorf from Tears of the Kingdom. It delves into his birth and how Koume and Kotake raised him to be a king, as well as all of the events that brought him to his ultimate demise (hehe, get it?) R2R was narrated by my very good friend and talented creator, CaptBurgerson (check out his channel for some excellent Zelda content!)
Path of Shadow is also an origin story, but for our favorite Zelda-turned-Sheik from Ocarina of Time. The story focuses on her transformation into the warrior Sheikah and how that came about during the seven years she was in hiding from the King of Evil. This project's voice actors include narration/male characters by CaptBurgerson, some female characters by yours truly, and Sheik and another minor character by SkySwordsAlisa, who also has a Zelda streaming channel.
FYI, though I've only had YouTube creators voice act for me thus far, it is NOT a requirement to be one in order to take part!
What's this project all about?
My current project is a sequel to Path of Shadow as well as a prequel to The Wind Waker.
Other than myself, two Zelda creators have been confirmed as voice actors for this project. You may have heard of them! The talented CaptBurgerson, who has been a faithful voice actor for all of my projects so far, and the legendary Hyrule Gamer! I'm so excited to bring him on and to see what he can do! Don't YOU want to be part of this amazing cast??
Here's a summary of the story!
A land at peace, Hyrule has lived on for three hundred years, benefitting from the actions of a princess, a hero, and a group of holy sages who did everything in their power to save it. But, as with most ages of peace, it has a fleeting nature. The beast, Ganon, has risen again, released from his magical prison by none other than Goddess Hylia herself. She has her reasons for doing so, but are they selfish ones? While she toils with the humanness of morality, Yami, a lesser god driven by revenge and hatred for Hylia, takes on his own immoral journey to obliterate her. Using the gullibility of a thirteen year old boy named Rinku who he convinces is the newfound “legendary hero,” Yami weaves a complex plan, also involving the Shuen, a Ganon-worshipping cult bent on ensuring the beast’s survival. All the while, time is running out, as the three Golden Goddesses have plans to flood the entire land as a measure to stop Ganon from consuming everything. Hylia, Yami, and Rinku must work against these plans for their own self-serving reasons, but how can anyone stop the highest-ranking goddesses known to Hyrule?
Sometimes, shadow must be utilized in order for peace to reign. But how much darkness must overtake the light for the world to be saved yet again?
Audition logistics:
I am looking for voice actors who truly love Zelda for its spirit and escapism. If you aren't a fan, that's ok too, but I do feel like being a fan creates more of a sense of passion in the voice actor, which comes out in the recordings. I am NOT limiting auditions to professionals - if this is your first time voice acting, by all means, please audition! I can't guarantee your selection, but you've gotta start somewhere, right? :)
Some things I WILL require:
Having a decent mic. Limited background noise and peaking is definitely preferred. If you are just getting started, a good rule of thumb is to try and record in a "space within a space," like in a closet or even underneath a blanket.
Prompt and professional communication. We'll need a good, quick way to communicate while you are in the midst of recording and submitting clips to me! Whether that's through email, Discord, or some other means, we will figure all of that out once you're selected. But if you're gonna commit, please do follow through! I know this is just a fan project, but it means a lot to me and I am serious about its implementation :)
Keeping spoilers to yourself! Once selected, and no matter how many lines you have to record, I'll be giving you access to the full draft of my fanfic for the sole reason of allowing you to feel the full emotional weight of the story. This will give you a better grasp on your performance expression. This means you'll know everything that happens in the story BEFORE the episodes are released on YouTube. I do have a few followers excited about this new project, so please do rein in all that spoilery stuff!
Be willing to re-record if I request it. Sometimes you might miss a little background noise, or a word might be said incorrectly, and I may ask you to re-record certain lines as a result. This is NEVER a slight on you as a performer. I chose you for a reason (talent!!) So do please work with me when/if that happens. I don't demand perfection or anything, but as this is my story, I DO have a vision, and I'm just trying to bring that vision to reality :)
ASK ME QUESTIONS!! Don't be afraid or nervous to ask or tell me anything! If you have to reschedule a recording session for any reason, delay a clip submission, drop out, or ANYTHING AT ALL, I am totally adaptable and reasonable! We will have a schedule set up, but I understand that life happens and things change and I will never get upset or disappointed with you because of that. You'll find in our communication that I'm actually pretty dang chill :P
Payment stuff!
As of now, I have this project marked as "unpaid," HOWEVER, I will be compensating you for your work! It's just that CCC doesn't give me the option for the type of payment that I'll be implementing, which will be case by case. There are some very small roles in this story, so I'm improvising a little because not everyone will be paid the same flat rate due to some having more lines than others.
I will be figuring out all of these logistics when the time comes, and I will make sure it is all fair. If you're receiving a bigger payout, please expect to be paid half up front and the other half later on. Payments will be made through PayPal or Venmo only.
ALL OF THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. I'm not rich or anything, and this is all coming out of my own pocket since this project is not making any money, so do be patient with me :P
