What Is This?:
This is an episode for a slice-of-life web series called Plight on YouTube. There are influences from ENA, Homestuck, and Earthbound, among others. I animate most of it!
It's about an exiled god and two aliens who live together on a desert planet. They all have baggage but choose to ignore it in favor of going on snack runs, exploring ruins, and getting on the good side of the townsfolk.
This episode "The Bet" will be the first with VA talent in it, as well as some guest animators and musicians.
Episode Synopsis:
Two roommates have an argument at the convenience store while getting snacks. Problem is one of them is a God. The other roommate doesn't believe he's a powerful god. Things escalate. This goes as well as you expect.
Requirements:
Use a decent mic. (I will have priority on the higher quality takes with little to no noise.)
Remote
You must be 18+ years of age
Discord Account (for communication)
Payment is through PayPal
Submit your audition as a .mp4. Record all lines in one track per character. You're allowed up to 2 variations of the line.
Write your email and Discord handle in the audition so I can contact you!
What To Expect:
You will be dubbing over boards and animation, as opposed to recording first and animating afterwards. There will only be a few exceptions to this. The lead doesn't have lipsync so this will be easier than you think.
The episode will be released on YouTube. The video won't be monetized.
I intend on making future episodes with the same characters. It is not mandatory to stay on production for the web series after this episode, but I will probably look into contacting you again if I like your work! So keep that in mind.
Other Notes:
This is my second time hiring VA talent. I am a solo animator, and I've only recently hiring other talent such as animators and VA and musicians. This is all funded out of pocket.
Contract: Whether or not the episode is completed past the storyboard and voice recording phase, you will be compensated the full amount according to each role. I will allow the release of material if you need it for your demo reel.
You will be paid upfront.

Technically a NEET. Likes to live a simple life, and avoids confrontation (but prone to complaining). Friendly, nerdy, and plays the straightman when required. He is very passionate about music.

-can be slightly whiny/awkward but don't overdo it
-this episode has him running yelling and grunting a lot so you might have to make those noises later on
(arguing with Vorpal, stumbling over words) Well, if we're being REALLY honest...your teleportation only works sometimes. You say you're a god but you're maybe just a (thinking about it)...glorified lion, or something.
(genuinely, towards Vorpal) Are you still mad about earlier? Listen, I'll go get some stuff. Maybe not that orange shit but you know, whatever you want. I'm sorry.
(looking at a sign that says "No Pets". meekly) So...management is still strong on that huh?
The super obnoxious chaos god of the planet. Huge ego and loves attention, but doesn’t get it often, making him desperate. Destructive, and apathetic to the well being of others, but if it’s funny it’s okay. Prone to boredom and impulsivity. Can be a good host when he’s with his roommates or in a good mood.

-mischievous, sing-songy, but don't be afraid to talk normally as well
-voice influences of Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) and Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls) come to mind but you DON'T have imitate. just an idea!
-he yells/grunts a lot in this episode so you'll probably have to do some of those sounds later on
(incredulously to TGE, and getting angrier as he goes on) I can't believe this. Does my presence not impress you? The grandness of my creation, the sheer power I have expended to create this world-.
(try some evil laughs. you can do more than 2 takes here so go nuts)
(upbeat) Hey, what was the name of the drink you got me last time? It was really good.

The snarky cashier at the convenience store. He's laid-back and tolerates the antics of the only two customers he gets. Sometimes a bit of a troll. A chill guy to be around outside of work.
(sarcastically, in response to a customer) 18 dollars. You should be thankful I'm allowing pets in the shop today.
(apathetic) Well, I don't really care. That's just upper management's orders but they're hardly even here anyway.
(sarcastically, about Vorpal) Ha. Kidding. You couldn't pay me to be with that guy. Good thing Vorpal likes you and this spot.
Barry is a minor role (only 6 lines) but they will have a bigger role in future episodes.
The stoic. Quiet, contemplative, and methodical. Keeps to self, and very very obsessed with their botany research. Just very slightly off-kilter. The kind of person you wouldn't notice was standing behind you until they said something.
-masculine-leaning voice, mid to low range
-age: ancient, but that doesn't show too much voice-wise, so it's ambiguous. I'll give it a range of 30s-40s.
-consistent tone, delivers words very intentionally

(questioning) Do you think you hit a sore spot this time?
(neutral) Well I suppose even Gods have their insecurities.
(neutral about TGE fighting with Vorpal) When the time comes, I'll be hiding out in my room.
