"Please Regard The Following Call" - 9 short episodes of creepy story vignettes

Project Overview

Introduction:

Come heed the call of three disjointed doctors in this abstract, nine-part, 'educational' web-series. Behind these masks, a story hides. Don't be scared! Dr. Black, Dr. White, and Dr. Red will help you through every step of the way with their thorough (if not a bit too objective) research.

Through a format of short vignette stories, we invite you to pay close attention for your health's sake...

Audition Tips:

- Clean recordings get priority

- The show's tone is very dry and should be reflected in performances

- All genders / accents / etc. are welcome for the Doctor roles! See specifics for Fox and Rabbit.

- Natural voice/comfortable range will always sound better than forcing something. Play to your strengths first.

Content:

- There IS NOT foul language or nsfw materials

- There IS light body horror/gore elements

That is all.

Additional Project Information:

The plan is to upload one episode per month for nine months, starting in hopefully May. It will be hosted on the channel the trailer up there is on, alongside another creator's show and eventually some shorts so we can draw in animation fans of various interests! I can't use the phrase 'avant garde' without sounding pretentious so I'll say this is on the nonsense side of stories, though there are going to be threads of narrative stringing it together.

Thank you for considering this odd little project. Good day.

  • Auditions are closed - announcement soon! (and animation update??)

Hello followers! Auditions are officially closed and I am truly humbled by the amount of people who put time and talent into auditioning for my quirky project! It's going to take me a little bit of time to select the final cast as I've got to work out a good group synergy between them rather than individual stellar takes, but expect roles to be selected within the week! Also, the animation for the show's theme song is complete and will be posted to the project's youtube channel once we get some music for it, so subscribe if you'd like to see a bit more of what you're in for when you regard the following call! Thanks again for everyone's time and effort - I listened to every single audition and enjoyed every second of sound! -TFC Team

The Black Doctor is the show's host. Dr. B reads off announcements with a joyless sense of obligation and introduces uncooperative peers with bitterness. They are almost resentful of their post. Without the charisma and excitement expected of a news anchor, what's left is a tired dryness that offers no comfort or confidence to the viewer. The Black Doctor treats the other two like untrained dogs, constantly loosing patience and with no professional courtesy. They're a little pitying of the viewer, but otherwise pretty uncaring. Their performance is well-rehearsed but reduced through tired repetition into a passionless act of going through the motions.

  • [Starting rushed/routine, becoming dryly apathetic] Please regard the following...oh. Well this is going to be a bad news day.

  • [Impatient, unimpressed] Yes, delightful yet informative, thank you.

  • [Slow, solemn] Of course it's going to be difficult... that's what you signed up for.

Doctor White is something of a mad scientist, but not to a cartoony degree. Their over-passionate study of the unsettling should be enthusiastic, but not to the point where it's bubbly or gleeful. They're hyper-dedicated to the tales they're telling and share their wisdom without stopping to wonder if something is factual or plausible. It all makes perfect, unquestionable sense to them, and they relay it with great confidence. They can trail off at times, or mutter even if it feels appropriate. These segments will include light body-horror so please keep that in mind when deciding to audition.

  • [Excited] Quickly now, come in! Don't be shy!

  • [Obsessive, too focused] The tendrils will keep wriggling till they pierce flesh, making crude holes and twisting around to widen them... the persistence of life is fascinating.

  • [optimistically nervous] This was helpful, wasn't it? ...was it? Helpful?

The Red Doctor is a storyteller and delivers them resolutely, like one might deliver an omen or a serious fable. They speak clearly and erudite, like a well-educated person firm in their message. Anger usually comes out through a rushed pace, sadness or somberness through a slower, softer tone. In any emotional extreme, though, the Red Doctor never loses his professionalism. Wording is always clear, practiced, purposeful.

  • [Cold, recitational] This is a story about a fox and a rabbit.

  • [Angry but annunciated] The fox and the rabbit flee into the night like cowards. "We're free!" She says.

  • [Morose, respectfully quiet. Careful] Happily ever after... would have been appropriate for some different pair.

The Fox is one of the characters in Dr. Red's ongoing tale. While the character is a generally well-mannered husband, working a day job and loving his wife, it reads somewhat stilted and low-energy. The words are the doctor's, not Fox's, so they're going to be more dry and casual than super emotional. They're grounded and unaffectionate like a stranger reading someone else's wedding vows aloud.

  • [Dry, weak, but purposeful] I’m going to suffer for you every day for the rest of my life.

  • [Firm but no enthusiasm] I want you to be safe. We'll live however you like.

  • [faint, weak] I regret this sometimes. [resentful] I hate everything and I'm scared.

A character in Dr. Red's ongoing tale, the rabbit is a polite little housewife navigating the life of a newlywed. As a performer in a story, her words aren't her own but the doctor's, so delivery should be fairly stilted and not overly emotional. As a small creature, though, it should be a light and frail voice, perhaps always softly wavering.

  • [casually] My mother wants me to leave this place.

  • [hollow, passionless, just dead inside] I'm so happy. This is wonderful news.

  • [crying - this can be a faint weeping, big ugly cry, or anything in between. Whatever you feel more confident portraying]
