Persona 5 Fandubs

Project Overview

I've decided to do a small series of Persona 5 fandubs. These fandubs will feature some of the key scenes in the game, so beware of spoilers!

We will also be doing some P5DAN videos too!

This project is to last over the summer, maybe early autumn too.

Just now, I'm looking for the members of the Phantom Thieves, apart from Ryuji - I shall be voicing him.

...I don't know what else to say XD

If you have any questions or anything with regards to this project, seeing as my description is really short, just send me a PM, I don't bite ^-^

Best of luck :D

Morgana

Role assigned to: hitsujiko

Voice Type - androgynous. I really like his English voice, so something along those lines!

English VA - Cassandra Lee Morris

Japanese VA - Ikue Ōtani

Initially, Morgana is extremely rude, arrogant, sarcastic and condescending. When in battle, he is also smug, frequently declaring "It's almost scary how good I am!" after scoring a critical hit or hitting a weak spot. He seems to really enjoy looking down on Ryuji, as he never passes an opportunity to insult his intelligence and often expects him to know things he has no way of knowing, making him something of an insufferable genius. Even on the rare occasions he gives a compliment, he nearly always follows it up with a snide remark e.g. "That's not a bad idea... for you, Ryuji!" In addition to being arrogant, Morgana is also rather self-serving for the first few months; he cares little for the group's goal of reforming society, and only helps them because their activities are what he believes to be his best way to become human again. He can also be apathetic and downright callous at times, as he couldn't understand why Ryuji and the protagonist were so concerned about the possibility of killing Kamoshida via destroying his palace.

  • "Don't call me a cat! I...am Morgana!"

  • "We're surrounded by three enemies! Strong ones!"

  • "Geez, you are such an amateur...just leave this to me! Watch and learn!

Voice Type - Girly, slightly elegant, with a tough edge to it.

English VA - Erika Harlacher

Japanese VA - Nana Mizuki

Ann is a very kind, sweet and compassionate girl, enough for it to be noted by both Morgana and Sojiro Sakura. Years of isolation due to her looks has left her very withdrawn and with a belief she's lost her place in the world, but that doesn't stop her from opening up to the people close to her and making jokes. This is because she's learned not to care what other people think of her, a lesson taught to her by Shiho Suzui, who was her only friend before joining the Phantom Thieves. She is shown to be a good judge of character, as she was the first person able to look past the rumors of the protagonist and see him for who he really is (while Ryuji Sakamoto befriended him before her, it was because he saw him as just another "troublemaker" and didn't learn his full story until later). Her good judgement of others is also shown by her willingness to forgive Makoto after learning her side of the story in the Kamoshida incident, namely that she wanted to do something but felt powerless to stop him, having realized it wasn't too different from her own situation. Before this, she also comforts Makoto when she calls herself "scum of the Earth" due to her failure to help Kamoshida's victims, saying that if she really was scum, she wouldn't call herself such.

  • "Are you really a bad person as the rumour say...? You...just don't seem like it."

  • "Argh, would you SHUT UP! I'm tryin' to eat here!"

  • "We did it! Now...what should we do for our celebratory party this time? It needs to be something REALLY special!"

Voice Type - Deeper pitch, elegant and blunt.

English Voice Actor - Matthew Mercer

Japanese Voice Actor - Tomokazu Sugita

Yusuke’s entire life’s passion is comprised of and surrounded by art. He searches for the aesthetic everywhere in his surroundings, from people to places. He sees every opportunity or challenge presented to him as a way to broaden his horizons, and primarily considers how it will benefit him greatly as an artist. He is captivated by the painting of “Sayuri,” and seeks to capture the sense of beauty that it portrays. This passion extends to his mentor, Madarame, who he believed created the painting and who took him in when he was young. As such, Yusuke greatly admired and respected him to the point that he vehemently denied any of the rumors surrounding Madarame. Even when he knows the rumors are true and finds actual proof supporting it, Yusuke claims that the abuse he faced was consensual as a means of keeping a roof over his head. His passion for art is admired and respected by the group, though they also view him as rather strange. At one point, Ann claims that he is "on a different wavelength than other people."

  • "Ah, that is quite an unusual sight over there. Let us investigate it!"

  • "My passion can change the world. However... I would starve to death without money. Passion alone may fill my heart, but it cannot fill my stomach... What a troubling predicament..."

  • "Easier than cleaning my brushes."

Voice Type - A protagonist-like voice, I'll leave this to your imagination ;)

English Voice Actor - Xander Mobus

Japanese Voice Actor - Jun Fukuyama

As per the tradition of the Megami Tensei franchise, he is a silent protagonist, whose personality is based on the player's actions and decisions. However, he appears to have more established traits than any of the previous protagonists. His dialogue options range from somewhat indifferent to outright cheeky. The game allows for quite a number of playful, snarky, or audacious answers, including teasing his friends. He also taunts his enemies like the famed Arsène Lupin. In the prologue scene, he remains cocky and confident even when his life is in danger. He also has a flair for showing off and making dramatic decisions, such as exiting by jumping through the stained glass windows of the Casino, much to the amazement of the other Phantom Thieves. This is even reflected in gameplay, as when he is turned into a mouse, he makes a flamboyant hop after escaping a battle.

  • "I should write something..."

  • "Show me your true form!"

  • "Yes. Before that happens, we will take this country!"

Voice Type - A high pitched, and crazy-esque voice

English Voice Actor - Erica Lindbeck

Japanese Voice Actor - Aoi Yūki

With a case of social anxiety bordering on agoraphobia, combined with the trauma of losing her mother Wakaba Isshiki, Futaba is strongly discomfited by going outside. When the protagonist first meets her, she is a hikikomori who does not attend school and almost never leaves her room. She communicates with the world remotely via the Internet, and her adoptive father Sojiro Sakura enables her lifestyle out of guilt that he could not protect her from trauma. Having disconnected herself from humanity and the world beyond her apartment, Futaba is lonely, lives without passion and enthusiasm, suffers from suicidal depression, and questions the point in her living. When first encountered, Futaba is so consumed with self-loathing that she suppresses her desire to live, causing her Shadow Self to develop a much more helpful personality than average, one who only desires Futaba's happiness. When she first leaves her room after her change of heart, she tends to hide behind the protagonist so that she won't be seen in public, or wears masks which make it impossible to identify her. Her room acts as a sanctuary and a refuge from the chaos and noise of the outside world.

  • "Risking our lives to stop rotten adults - THAT'S why we're Phantom Thieves!"

  • "Ehehehehe...allow me to perform the secret trick that will get us out of here!"

  • "You're just a fake created by those horrid adults! And I'll never forgive them!"

Voice Type - A high pitched, elegant and lady like voice.

English Voice Actor - Xanthe Huynh

Japanese Voice Actor - Haruka Tomatsu

Haru is generally very shy and reserved. At school, she is viewed as eccentric due to her tendency to keep to herself and avoid contact with others as much as possible. She has serious trust issues, finding it difficult to differentiate between who truly values her as a friend, and who merely wants to use her for her family's status. This is due to her past, where not only friends, but adults and teachers would be kind at her just to please her father and smiled at her for their own personal gain. Despite this, Haru is an incredibly kind-hearted girl; she becomes fast friends with all of the Phantom Thieves, and is the only member of the group Ryuji doesn't argue with on a regular basis. She grew up admiring female superheroes she watched on TV, due to them always fighting to protect others and being happy, desiring to be just like them someday.

  • "My heart has been set...you should know...I am no longer your subservient puppet!"

  • "Oh, and don't worry. I'll make sure I keep myself motivated, even through these difficult times."

  • "So, I'm not even allowed to decide where I live, am I?"

Voice Type - Mid pitched, tough, slightly tomboyish

English Voice Actor - Cherami Leigh

Japanese Voice Actor - Rina Satō

Despite being the student council president, Makoto is an extremely unpopular student at Shujin Academy; due to her not doing anything to stop Kamoshida's abuse, she is considered by all the students to be an arrogant, selfish control freak who knew about the abuse but chose to do nothing about it because she only cared about getting a good letter of recommendation. While she does give off the impression of this during the Phantom Thieves' first few encounters with her, these rumors are ultimately revealed to be just that: rumors. In truth, the abuse outraged Makoto, but she didn't feel like she had the power to anything about it. In fact, Makoto holds no real authority in the school, with her position merely making her a glorified tool for the principal to use however he sees fit. Feeling overshadowed by her highly successful older sister, Makoto has almost no sense of self-worth, and so has made a habit of keeping her nose down and doing what is expected of her. Her submissive nature is noted by Akechi, who condescendingly refers to her as "the good-girl type of pushover." After getting involved with the Phantom Thieves, however, Makoto realizes her frustration at the authority figures around her not living up to the expectations they've set for themselves, and vows from then on to fight for what she believes in, which triggers the awakening of her Persona. After the group defeat Kaneshiro, Makoto decides to stay with the Phantom Thieves, saying that she's done being the "exemplary honour student" and that she's going to try to be more honest with herself.

  • "I've finally found a place where I belong."

  • "You d know that you're not supposed to be up here? After the incident, this place is strictly off limits to students."

  • "I know your secret, and here is my evidence...so why not fess up now? The officials might be softer on you if you do."

Voice Type - Mid pitched, tough, slightly tomboyish

English Voice Actor - Robbie Daymond

Japanese Voice Actor - Sōichirō Hoshi

Akechi is a high school student who conducts a detective business. His abilities as a detective have been widely acclaimed, since he not only has solved numerous cases, but is also able to deal with people from the investigation agency smoothly. His handsome features draw him public attention, and people comment on him as “The Second Advent of the Detective Prince.”

  • Well, because I'm a psychic, of course. Haha, I'm only joking. In truth, I'm a rookie detective.

  • "Haha, please don't troll me online for this interruption."

  • Well, I actually happen to have a pretty good idea of the identity of the Phantom Thieves...in fact, I believe they are present in this room as we speak."
