Passion project: Damstate End City (18+ Only)

You will help bring to life the beautifully gloomy, dreary, struggling but hopeful music of Damstate End City, you will be doing both diagetic and non-diagetic music, the project's music will lean very much into noir, bluesy and jazzy sounds so if you're a fan of that (like me) welcome in

You will animate all the characters and scenery and anything else that needs animating, you'll help each other out and bring this story to life

Your role is to help bring my very crude imagination of the setting and characters to life, some things I have a reference and idea for, other things you'll have complete free reign over

you will be responsible for applying all the right aesthetics and doing visual clean up to help Damstate End City look as delightfully miserable as possible

you'll help make this project sound good, you'll be responsible for the noises we hear and you'll be in charge of (if you specify you're ok with it) cleaning up our actor's voices and other sound clean up tasks, that being said if you don't think something is possible/easily doable feel free to request retakes

you will be working with myself on plotting the stories, throwing around ideas on plots, lore and characters and generally helping out with making my vision come from ideas to text

A mixed race man who culturally identifies more with his Hispanic mother's side than his father's side (British American), around 62, he is a Catholic man, he walks with a cane and favours dark green suits

A receptionist for the DECPD who knows far too much about their corruption, she's an ally to the Mayor, Park and Blum, she was raised by her Polish grandparents

Mr Carmichael's daughter, she's got deep wounds from her childhood and many would call her broken and a lost cause, she had brown hair and grey eyes, often known for wearing red suits, she's a little bit of a tomboy, she also hates her dad for how he treated her and now works alongside Mayor Chester in exchange for having her death sentence

revoked, she was the Don's hitwoman but one job made her want out, she is a little cold hearted due to her upbringing but wants to become a better person all while hating herself

a ginger man from Northern England, sexist prick and corrupt cop, generally a complete bigot in every way

Note: I have provided a vocal reference for any potential voice actors in the audition section. I believe it might help you in your audition. I do not want to play the character, I cannot do the accent, I'm doing this because I have a very specific tone in mind for the him and I believe it would help you to know how he speaks.

A cop from England, he's got a Northern English accent and is an alright person, he wants to leave the force but feels being among them would help Mayor Chester have eyes on the inside, he is a little bit confused about things but tries to mask it with being thorough

private investigator who is essentially the archetypal noir detective, jaded, sarcastic, a little cold, he wants so desperately to think better of the world but he can't, the city has beaten him down, the only reason he's still going on is to hopefully make the city a better place

Note: I want Schultz to sound something like Humphrey Bogart or Rod Serling, that sort of vibe

A second generation Korean immigrant who tries his best to seem as American as possible (Roland is why), he's reserved and quite, a polite young man, certainly younger than his partner (not romantic) Blum, he is a little too kind sometimes because he wants to be a beacon of positivity and hope

a woman with her own, entirely woman-run mob, she wants to fight against Carmichael and misogyny, she has fiery hair (hence the name) and is known for her rule of not getting civilians caught in her crossfire, she's pretty honourable as far as the city is concerned

transgender woman, singer at Rita's and the future girlfriend of Harry Schultz, she's a very tough person despite her soft appearance, she gets hit on lots and can't shake the feeling that she's a spectacle for people (pref trans vas)

a rich queerphobe who's having relations with the very people he hates

(Note for those auditioning: make him sound as arrogant as possible, he thinks he's better than everyone and even if he saw a god in front of his eyes he'd still ask them to pass the salt)

The corrupt DECPD police captain, there's no one higher than him because they "mysteriously" vanished, he will pretend to be a good man but he's absolutely not even if he thinks he is, he cares about his detectives but is obviously not a good person for it.

Deceased wife of Diego Chester, she might appear in flashbacks and nightmares

Diego Chester's eldest son, he's around 20-25, he will mainly be present in flashbacks and nightmares

Diego Chester's younger son, primarily in flashbacks and nightmares, he's around 19-21

Vanessa's abusive ex, until his death where he'll die in a mob shootout

An effeminate, beautiful and flamboyant man, he'll be one of Rowan's many flings and a friend of Vanessa, he is very witty and thick skinned, he secretly works as an informant for Fire

Note: he can be Irish American or just Irish or just American

Detective Roland Richardson's (police) partner, he's just as bigoted but half his age.

Give me varied voices, they can be tough, cowardly, smart, brutes, whatever, have fun with them

these are your patrolmen and other such cops, the average joes, not some big shot detectives, they're typically more naive to the department's corruption but that doesn't mean they're not complicit, feel free to vary the voices in harshness, they're not all complete scum but there's still lots of assholes there

small time thieves and muggers, nothing compared to the mobs but they're still a perceived threat, that being said I don't want every single criminal to be evil, they're just people and in some ways more honourable than the DECPD because at least they never pretended to be protectors of justice

These are performers, actors, circus people, singers, comedians and more. These are voices of people who bring what little happiness they can into Damstate End City, truly a noble cause... Just uh... Don't ask them about their income

NOTE: For the people doing singers feel free to sing whatever you think would fit, for the people playing actors a transatlantic accent is preferred
