Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Fandub (EP1)
Project Overview
12/30/2025 UPDATE: Extended project with another week for the rest of the minor roles. I want this project to have every single role filled before I can start working on the project in earnest.
I always wanted to make a fandub project from this game. And of course all the credits goes to Nintendo. This project is made entirely on entertainment purposes only and that's how it stays; a fandub project. There are however few rules, if you DO tend to audition to remember.
1.) I am but a human and I have a life outside the project, which may be interfering on when I get the episodes out. DO NOT GO ASKING OR PRESSURE ME WHEN THE EPISODES WILL GO OUT, THEY GO OUT WHENEVER I HAVE FREE TIME TO DO SO!
2.) For your auditions, make sure you...
deliver a clean and clear audition
deliver a background noise/hum free auditions
have a pop-filter on your microphone or similar to reduce the possible pops and such
don't peak your auditions
deliver the auditions WITH ENOUGH EMOTIONS! If you deliver emotionless/quiet auditions, it WILL BE rejected.
3.) When it will be time to deliver your lines, the format will ALWAYS BE .mp3. Furthermore, the format you should use if you get selected is "CHARACTERNAME_YOURNAME_LINEXX.MP3" where "xx" means the line number such as "Line01" "Line02" ect.
4.) I forgot to mention this, but DMing me and sending auditions or the actual lines in a form of blanked out video is an absolute and automatic NO. For security reasons, I am not going to even look or listen auditions that are made in video format. Only auditions made through Casting Call Club's project page are acceptable.
5.) Please DO NOT send multiple auditions on one role. Just one per role is enough. Sending multiple attempt on one role doesn't increase your chances getting picked, in fact it is considered as spam and therefore makes your chance getting picked less likely!
The whole project will be presented in our Discord fandub group's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@VocalGamers

Ahem! Today... I'm going to tell you the story of the Thousand-Year Door.
But one day...tragedy befell this blessed place. A great cataclysm struck the town and its people. Darkness filled the skies, and the earth roared and shook.
This is the tale of the fabled treasure of Rogueport. Yes, this is where it begins, in the sea town of Rogueport. The tale of the quest for the legendary treasure... And the Thousand-Year Door...starts here.
Princess Peach this time has gone to Rogueport to see what she wants alone without Toadsworth being paranoid about her getting in danger, especially during holidays. After looking around for some minutes, a strange merchant asks Peach if she'd like to buy something from his wide assortment of items. After someone caughts her eye, Peach asks what could be inside the strange pretty "box" that the merchant holds for sale; Which the merchant responds by saying that the strange box holds a map leading to a legendary treasure inside it, however, he precises that the box holds a magic look on it that will only open for a pure and noble heart, the merchant also admits that it will not perform a reaction as he does not holds the requirements to open it. The merchant explains that he feels a strong chance of Peach being able to open it. He asks Peach to take the box and see it for herself, and once she opens the box, a strong light bursts out

Finally! I have a minute without Toadsworth watching over me! He's so paranoid! I come all the way here on holiday...only to be stuck with Toadsworth! It's so stifling!
Well, that's a pretty box! What's inside it?
Um... All right... What's the harm?

Oh, Missy... Missy... Won't you buy something? I have a wide assortment of knickknacks and doodads!
It is said that this box holds a map that shows where a legendary treasure sleeps... But the box has a magic lock on it that will only open for a pure and noble heart.
I know. If the box will open for you, Missy, then you may have whatever is inside. I am sure that whatever is in there would be of no use to someone like me.

Mail call!
Luigi is best described as the "underdog" of the Mario Bros., often going unnoticed due to his reluctant nature. He is often slightly cowardly and is terrified of ghosts according to his diary. Nevertheless, Luigi musters his courage for a couple of adventures in the Paper Mario series, showing bravery and determination when it is needed. Luigi is generally easygoing and is very kind and considerate to those around him. He is certainly jealous of Mario's success; however, he does not let that jealousy get in the way of their good relationship. It is revealed at the end of Paper Mario that he wishes that he could sleep on the top bunk.
In The Thousand-Year Door, he is shown to be arrogant and somewhat of a liar, slightly exaggerating his stories to make himself look more heroic. Some of his partners show incredible disdain for Luigi and some of them, like Blooey the Blooper, only stick around because he owed them a debt.

[to Mario after he fetched the letter from Princess Peach that Parakarry delivered] Hey, Bro! Check it out! A letter from Princess Peach arrived for you!
I'll just read it to you, how's that sound? Ahem! Now let's see here...
What do you know? It's true! There's a weathered old map in here with the letter. Check it out!
He's the ship captain that's heading to Rogueport.

[to Mario who's snoring] Excuse me... Sir? Please wake up, sir! The town you'd been speaking of has come into view. Look! That's Rogueport!
I must apologize, sir. Our arrival was delayed just a bit by rough weather... Are you quite sure you want to disembark here? I...did tell you all the sordid tales about Rogueport on our way here, did I not?
What's that? I'm sorry? You say there's a princess waiting here for you? Is that so? Er... Of course, sir. Well, if that's what you think, then I won't stop you. But, uh... You be careful, sir! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Pa-Patch is a Bob-omb character that appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He is a large purple Bob-omb with an eyepatch on his left eye, and his wind-up key resembles a set of bones. Pa-Patch's name is derived from his distinctive eyepatch and the style of his species name. In the English localization, he speaks with a Cockney accent.

Goombella is a major character in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its Nintendo Switch remake. A third-year co-ed student studying archaeology at the University of Goom, Goombella is a smart and sassy but friendly Goomba and the first companion to join Mario on his quest. She provides tattle information to Mario about his location or the character who stands in front of him throughout his journey.
When Mario arrives at Rogueport at the beginning of the game, he sees a pink Goomba girl being attacked by Lord Crump and his minions. Mario helps her to defeat Lord Crump. She temporarily teaches Mario about the Action Commands. After defeating Lord Crump, he brings out his army to punish them, but they make their getaway to the plaza. Goombella, a junior at the University of Goom, thanks Mario, kisses him, learns about the map he has and that the princess had disappeared, and joins his party.

Hey! What do you want?!? Get away from me, freak!!! N-No! Stop right there, you weirdos! I'll scream! Really!
Battle time, Mister Man! Just find a way to beat this freak of the week, OK? Don't sweat the details. Just jump on him and hit him with your hammer!
Me, I already HATE it here! There are freaks and weirdos EVERYWHERE! It's nasty! I mean, I know the place is called Rogueport, so I should have expected it, but sheesh! I'd never come to a place like this if there weren't some legendary treasure here.
Lord Crump, also known as X-Naut Black and Four-Eyes when disguised, is the second-in-command of the X-Nauts (second only to Grodus) and the secondary antagonist in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He fights Mario four times, two of them while controlling his personal robot, Magnus von Grapple. He also often summons the X-Naut platoon when he is angry.
Second in command of the X-Nauts, Lord Crump is always willing to follow Grodus' command. Even though Lord Crump is second in command, Grodus calls him his most incompetent underling in Chapter 8. Lord Crump frequently appears in the story, often getting in Mario's way.

Toadsworth accompanies Princess Peach on her trip to Rogueport during Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He keeps Princess Peach very close to him, but ends up losing her. When Mario comes to Rogueport, he meets a frantic Toadsworth who is incredibly worried about the missing Princess. Mario assures Toadsworth that he is going to save her, and Toadsworth spends the remainder of the game in Rogueport's Inn.

Great hoogly-boogly! If it isn't Master Mario! Bit of a coincidence, bumping into one another in this sort of place, hm? Ho ho! So tell me, Master Mario, what in the world brings you to this wretched little burg?
You're asking me where Princess Peach is? Erm... I was about to ask you that. We stoped in this town to acquire a spot of fuel for our ship, don't you know... I only took my eye off her for a moment, but as soon as I did, she vanished.
I believe I'll recline in the Inn right over there and enjoy a spot of tea, perhaps. In fact, I highly recommend it, particularly if you find your HP (Heart Points) running low. Just drop on INN! Ho ho! ...Yes, anyway, a little rest there will fill all of your HP. I must say, though, the rest of this town is a bit...rough. Yes, rough, indeed...

Flavio is a "famous", narcissistic, and naïve Rogueport entrepreneur who appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He owns many ships, his favorite being the S.S. Flavion, which he and Mario need to use to travel to Keelhaul Key. Flavio's name is most likely derived from the Latin word "flavus", which means "yellow", a reference to the color of his skin, as well as his cowardly nature.

I was a thief in another town up until about three months ago. Yeah, a good one.

She is a grumpy, 55-year-old Toad who resides in Rogueport. Like Tayce T., she is an expert at cooking and even featured a similar backstory involving cakes and a deceased husband. Unlike Tayce T., however, her personality is the polar opposite; she has a rambunctious attitude, describing her as very mean and grumpy, calling Mario names and keeping a mean expression on her face. Her attitude is similar to Dyllis.

This is your fault! Now I have to buy a new contact lens! But YOU'RE gonna pay for it! Compensate me, Mr. Clumsy!
Goomther is a Goomba who wears a green hat around in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. His name is a portmanteau of "Goomba" and the German name "Günther". He seems to get ripped off a lot, as whenever talked to, he bemoans having, for instance, his credit card stolen by Larson. All he does all day is walk around Rogueport, where he lives.

Mousimilian is a Little Mouser in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. His name is a portmanteau of "mouse" and the masculine name "Maximilian". He hangs out in the Rogueport plaza, in front of the Toad Bros. Bazaar. He smells propositions that may make him loot. He also makes a comment about Mario's scent every time the player speaks to Mousimilian. The scent he smells is usually reminiscent to a certain event that happened to Mario during the last chapter he visited.
Mousimilian also has a trouble. When Mario takes on his trouble, Mousimilian tells Mario that he learned a new money-making scheme, but forgot it. He wants Mario to hit him with his hammer repeatedly until he remembers it. It takes 10 times to do the job. The scheme is to buy Sleepy Sheep in the Toad Bros. Bazaar and sell it in Niff T.'s shop for a profit of two coins, which he tells Mario as the reward for helping him.

Thriff T. is a Toad merchant from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. His name is pun on the word "thrifty", which means to spend wisely. He is the younger brother of Plenn T. who manages the Item-Shop of Rogueport. Though Thriff T. and his brother get along well, he dreams to open his own shop someday. When Thriff T. gets wind of Mario's ambitions to sail to Keelhaul Key, he immediately joins his crew because he sees his big chance in this. After the Crew's ship gets attacked by Embers and its passengers are trapped on Keelhaul Key, Thriff T. indeed gets his own shop, though it is just a tentative one made from debris. He decides to stay on Keelhaul Key even after Mario defeats Cortez, implying that he finally grew a liking to the deserted island and is willing to make a life there. The fifth issue of the Rogueport Direct Mail Service talks about his shop. According to it, Thriff T. opened up his shop there because he dreamed of doing something that had not been done before. He is also mentioned to be a former fighting fan. During the interview, he declares himself "the invincible shopmaster" and wants everyone to call him that.

Welcome! Yes, welcome to the Toad Bros. Bazaar!
Plenn T. is a Toad merchant from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Plenn T.'s name is a pun on the word "plenty". He owns and operates the Toad Bros. Bazaar, located in the central plaza of Rogueport. He originally opened the store with his younger brother, Thriff T., who he often worked with. Plenn T. now operates the store on his own, after his brother departs to sail to Keelhaul Key and eventually opens his own item shop. Mario must visit him and his store in order to gain access to Rogueport's west side. Plenn T. has his own trouble, Help me restock!, which requires Mario to bring him five Courage Shells for a reward.
