[PAID] GODDESS (神祇) - Experienced Singer(s) Casting
Project Overview
Hello, Casting Call Club! I am a Chinese-American professional classical composer, music producer, and sound engineer based out of the United States, and I'm looking to bring together a group of talented, like-minded singers, songwriters, and powerful voices to tell stories.
----------------------------
GODDESS (神祇) - Jun-P
----------------------------
GODDESS is a high-octane, bombastic, Xianxia/Xiuxian-inspired tale of a Heavenly Goddess who falls for a mortal, roughly following the bittersweet love story of Zhinu and Niulang. It tells of the tale of a mortal whose forbidden love drives them to defy the will of the Heavens.
The production behind GODDESS is hard-hitting and cinematic - heavy synth lines courtesy of Xfer Serum supported by roaring brass, soaring string lines, and rumbling percussion ensembles courtesy of Kontakt and EastWest. It retains elements of Chinese classical music in the form of Erhu, Pipa, Dizi, and Guzheng, adding to the classic, but also modern Xianxia-fantasy sound. A great, modern inspiration for the styling of the piece was "What It Sounds Like" from K-pop Demon Hunters, but I also drew inspiration from "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained" featuring Huang Shengyi from Kung Fu Hustle, "Lonely Warrior (孤勇者)" from Arcane by Eason Chan, and "GODS" from League of Legends by New Jeans and Riot Music.
----------------------------
That's where you come in: I have already written the lyrics. I have written the sheet music. I have an open mind if you end up seeing something you would like to change, as ultimately, this is a collaborative effort, and I am not perfect. But overall, what I really need is (for now) at least ONE singer.
I need someone with a mature timbre, extensive experience in classically-trained or gospel singing, and the ability to BELT. I request theatre and gospel simply because of the extraordinary level of physical exertion and precision which theatre and gospel singers are safely capable of. There are three points in GODDESS which require the lead singer to perform a clean, full-belted F#5 (for reference, the 'high note' in Golden is an A5 - just a minor 3rd above that), and I don't want anyone hurting themselves. There are also multiple points where your own creative ability will shine in the form of artistic vocal runs and your own expressive interpretation of the song, which you, as the singer would be naturally encouraged to simply have fun with.
----------------------------
What I'm Offering:
This is a PAID job. I'm looking to pay anywhere in the $200 USD range for backup singers if that is something I end up casting for, and anywhere from $300-450 USD for the lead... for GODDESS, alone. I have quite a bit of fun-money, and I want to make something awesome, and support small artists as well.
I want this project to go places. If this project gets off the ground, I want to see that all parties involved see a proportional percent income based off of the total income the project brings in from any sources. I can't stress this enough - even though it's a paid 'job,' I want to have fun and make this a super cool collaborative project, so naturally, I want everyone to be compensated fairly.
----------------------------
What I'm not looking for:
- I will never use Generative AI in my work, and while I think it's almost asinine to even have to say this, if you do, keep looking. Best of luck in the arts.
- I need dry vocals. Don't tune your vocals, especially not your audition - I will know. That's my job as the producer. All I need is for your recordings to have minimal noise-floor, and as little room reverb as possible (I've worked with singers who sent full, produced vocal tracks with Valhalla reverb already added - please be cool and don't be like those people).
- I know I already mentioned this, but if you're not able to consistently strain your vocals for more strenuous vocal runs, possibly think twice. I don't want you losing your voice or forcing your larynx to do things is maybe hasn't trained to fully do yet.
- Cursive singers - I want to understand you.
----------------------------
What I am looking for:
- Passionate, art-first singers with an open mind and a good disposition.
- As funny as this sounds, Vtubers who are also experienced singers. I am starting a virtual group, and one of the biggest benefits of being a streamer is the public persona and ability to build a relationship with fans.
- A background in theatre and/or gospel. Seriously theatre and gospel singers are just... another level.
----------------------------
Well - I didn't just come here to talk!
