Mario & Donkey Kong Manga Dubs
Project Overview
Introduction
Welcome to my fandub for a variety of different franchises One Shot manga's. These dubs are for fun, but I am striving to create a good quality product for each one, to give the cast involved something to be proud as well as ourselves. We know it's not always easy getting experience, and I want these projects to be a high quality project for people of any experience level to either just have fun doing or so people wanting to get more experience and for everyone to have something they're proud of to share. This is one of multiple projects that are up or will being posted in the coming weeks. We are trying to build a surplus of videos up before they start going up in June. That way it will give the long term VA's for any of the projects some leeway if things come up down the road and they can't meet deadlines. Once June hits there will still be some coming up every so often but the majority of the projects for the next few months at least will be being listed this month or the beginning of April.
What I'm Looking For
Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:
- Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.
- Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio
- As little post processing as possible.
- 3 takes per line maximum please.
- Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.
- A good attitude! I'm hoping to form a great group of people to continue working with me on these projects going forward and that is obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!

Manga List:
The following is basic information on the franchises we are going to be doing random one shots from. Keep in mind that some of the characters are reoccurring in more than one one shot and may pop up in others as well.
Mario:
There are a bunch of different random Mario one shots we are going to be doing, so this isn't just for one specific manga. Some characters are going to be needed more than others as some aren't in every one shot. Right now we have a few already ready to go, including an 11 chapter mini series. So these may turn into more than just one shots.
Donkey Kong:
There are various small one shots related to Donkey Kong that we will be doing so some characters will be needed more than others. There are currently 3 we have ready to go but we may add more as well at some point.

DK is the star of the Donkey Kong franchise obviously, and probably doesn't need a lot of introduction. He's a big ape with a lot of brawn but not exactly the most brains ever though.

Diddy Kong is DK's best buddy. He's much smaller and more nimble than Donkey and tends to be a bit more of the brains of the duo.

Cranky Kong is Donkey's uncle and lives up to his name, he is very cranky all the time. He is constantly frustrated with Donkey and feels like games were much tougher back when he was the hero.

Bluster Kong is Donkey's rival and not quite as well known of a Kong. He is also in love with Candy Kong and is constantly fighting with Donkey to win her affection.

King K Rool is the main antagonist in the DK series. He is the leader of the Kremlings and wants to take over the island and is constantly trying to steal all the banana's.

Funky Kong is the mechanic and token "cool guy" of the Kong family. He is portrayed with a bit of a surfer type attitude and speech pattern in quite a few of the games.

Donkey Kong's hair is gone and we're in trouble?
Kroc's are K Rool's main minions. There are many little parts with generic ones, but there's also a crossover episode with Mario and DK that the main enemy is a RockKroc.
They usually have a lot of grunts but there are a couple particular ones that talk. I picture them having a bit deeper and gruff sounding voice.

Luigi I think is pretty obvious as well so I don't think a description is necessary. Although he doesn't say a huge amount generally, I found a clip of him actually talking to use as the voice reference clip.

Yoshi became a staple in the series after Super Mario World and is also in most of the manga's we will be dubbing. Yoshi's voice is a bit more difficult because he does speak in the manga but the only thing he's ever had actual lines in was the Super Mario World cartoon. I've attached a clip from that as well as one with his voice clips from the game. Feel free to use one, or both as reference.

Toad is kind of one that changes in certain stories. Although I would like to cast a voice for Toad himself, there are some story lines where there is just generic toads from the kingdom or a few different toads that talk. It would be great if whoever voices him would be able to adjust even slightly to voice various other tiny Toad roles. This is a voice clip from the cartoon and one from the games for reference.

Bowser I don't think needs any introduction either. But the stories do range from newer years to older ones, so some he just wants to take over everything and others he's madly in love with the Princess.

He has also been voiced by Kenneth James in the video games as well, but he never talks in them. So you can go based off the cartoons voice, your own take on the video game voice, or a combination of both. As long as it fits Bowser.

Roy Koopa is one of the Koopalings, and they are prevalent in the 11 chapter story we will be doing. Some of them do pop up in other one shots as well.

Morton Koopa is one of the Koopalings. He does look quite a bit different in the cartoon than he does in the games or comic so feel free to adjust his voice however you see fits. I'm going to attach a voice clip of him from the cartoon though for reference still.

Larry Koopa is yet another one of the Koopalings. His name was changed to "Cheaty Koopa" in the cartoon which I think gives a pretty good indication of his character.

The narrator has lines in pretty much all of the scripts, some more than others. They are pretty much there to set the tone for the chapter. I am not particularly specific about what type of voice I'd like as long as it can capture the tone of the episode.

Kamek is one of Bowser's loyal servants and advisor. He serves a major role in Bowsers crew generally, even though that role changes depending on the story. His voice is pretty much the same in any of the games he's been in. I've attached a link for reference:

Friendly Floyd is a unique character that appears in the 11 chapter manga we will be doing. He is a very cheerful and happy character, even though he essentially scams Mario. He appears quite often throughout the series.
I picture his voice sounding a bit like a more friendly and happy version of a car salesman. He is a salesman and originally meets them by trying to sell his wares. He shouldn't sound as scummy as a stereotyped car salesman though.

Although we are currently doing the video editing ourselves, with the amount of work we are going to be producing going forward we are very open to having help with the editing. Because of the nature of the project, we aren't able to provide compensation for this role either unfortunately, but if you are interested in gaining more experience and credits to your name, or just love the content and would like to work on a project for fun, we would love to hear from you!
The editing for the manga's is going to be fairly simple, just lots of transitions and words loading as speech is being overlaid. As well as inputting the audio tracks into the video as well obviously. There will also be an opening theme song that will be played at the beginning of each episode, but once that's produced the first time there won't be a new one till the next theme comes in down the road.
