About one year ago some of you auditioned for a CCC project called “Omori The Series.” You probably waited to hear from the creator. Yet you heard nothing, instead an announcement of its cancelation. Well, I am that creator. Hey, I’m Opal. I want to formally apologize for canceling the series at such late notice. I canceled the series due to my mental health. When I created the project I did not know that I was going to go through some severe bullying. I took a break from a lot of things, including directing. I stuck to my main two projects during those times. But now here we are and it’s summer. After the announcement of Omori going onto the consoles, I knew I had to hop back into the fandom. Once again my mind wished that the game had voices. The only difference for this CCC is that it will not be the whole game. As that would take a lot of storage. But instead, some memorable moments in the game. The most IMPACTFUL, POWERFUL, moments. This includes fanmade dialogue of “The Truth” photo album segment.
INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for "Omori"! This is based on the video game Omori, so essentially it would be what I think of Omori would be like if it was voice acted. PLOT: In the story, the player controls a hikikomori boy named Sunny and his dream world alter-ego Omori. They explore both the real world and the surreal dream world to overcome their fears and secrets. How they interact depends on choices made by the player, resulting in one of several endings. The game's turn-based battle system includes unconventional status effects based on the characters' emotions.

“This game contains depictions of depression, anxiety, and suicide, and may not be suitable for all audiences. It also contains bright flashing imagery that may cause discomfort and/or seizures for those with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.”
We're casting for voices to be used throughout the game however we are going to start with the. Folks cast for main roles will be asked to provide lines for the role. If you're not cast for the main role, and your voice matches the tone of the show or a character in a later episode, we may ask you to provide lines for supporting roles or possibly other main roles in the production. If you are cast I will request for your discord username to invite you!
All roles are in the English language. Voice actors must be comfortable using English
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is July 30th, 2022. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline, as the full Pilot script is ready to release to voice actors. We'll notify voice actors who have been cast in roles by July 31st and send the link to the discord server.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect to be warmly greeted by myself, Opal. At this point, you'll be part of our "Omori Fandub" family, where you'll get to interact with other voice actors from around the globe, all of whom offer a wealth of experience and knowledge.
We communicate primarily through Discord. If you are unfamiliar with either of these applications, you will need it to audition.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First and foremost, have fun -- we take pride in bringing together talents in different mediums to create something truly phenomenal, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about their craft.
Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines -- leave that to our audio geniuses :)
Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you don't want to be featured on the audition.
Please submit your recordings as one .MP3 file to We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.
Lastly, since We are planning on making this into a series that will most likely last till the end of the game. We'd like to cast people who will be able to stick with us for a while.

SUNNY was described as a shy but kind boy. BASIL described SUNNY as a "really good listener" and although he was timid, SUNNY cared about his friends and they got along well. SUNNY is said to have "a great memory". After SOMETHING happened, he turns from shy to reclusive and cuts himself off completely from his friends and the world, becoming a hikikomori for several years.
SUNNY has a mild and reserved personality. He does not express much emotion, so his lines should be more subtle in their delivery.
SUNNY is 16, so while he could have a tone anywhere from child-like to semi-mature, he should not sound like a fully grown adult.
His HEADSPACE counterpart is OMORI.

(YELLING) I’m not playing at the recital! You heard Basil I sounded horrible
(CONCERNED) Mari? Why aren’t you answering me-
(VOICE BREAKING) Mari? MARI? MARI! (STARTS TO SOB)
Not much can be said about OMORI's personality, as he is a silent protagonist. However, it is implied that he is quite melancholic, as his narration sometimes has gloomy inputs and his final battle dialogue is directly talking down to SUNNY. His abilities are also reflective of this gloominess, being either violent in nature or simply gaining SAD or having an advantage while SAD. However, it can be speculated that this is more reflective of SUNNY's emotional state, as OMORI is a character built from SUNNY'S conscience in WHITE SPACE and HEADSPACE.
OMORI is 12 years old, therefore his voice should have a youthful tone while still remaining deadpan. His unemotional line delivery should clash with his young voice.
His REAL WORLD counterpart is SUNNY.
OMORI has a reserved tone of voice.
(coldly) "You've caused so much suffering yet you do nothing. And so you earn nothing in return."
(coldly) "Your friends will never forgive you. They'll abandon you like you did them.. and that's what you deserve."
(attacking) "Hero loved her and you killed her!"
The present-day KEL still retains his happy demeanor but appears more mature and understanding towards others. He is very social and likes talking with strangers when SUNNY is busy with jobs. He constantly tries to help others in need, which could often lead him to making rash choices at times. Regardless, KEL desires to reconnect with his old friends, notably when he encourages SUNNY to be more active and healthy. He even tries to understand AUBREY's reasons for her anger and repeatedly protects BASIL from bullies as well.
REAL WORLD KEL is around 16-17. His voice can be anywhere from medium to low pitched. His enthusiasm should be kept, but to a lesser degree than his younger self.
His HEADSPACE counterpart is KEL.
(PLAYFUL) Helllooooo... Helllloooooooooooo? SUNNY? Are you there?
(WHISPERING, AND ANNOYED) Okay, fine. I get that you're angry. Look, if it's an apology you want, here. I'm sorry, okay?
(NOSTALGIC) We were pretty adventurous back then, huh? Haha...
During his youth, KEL is a bit bratty, impulsive, and rude, always getting into little tiffs with his friends. He is very competitive by nature, always wanting to win games or races, and is indeed very energetic and fast. He also thinks romance is gross and that girls have cooties. However, even though he is loud and likes to annoy his friends, he genuinely cares about and protects them. KEL appears to share a strong bond with his brother HERO and occasionally bickers with AUBREY over petty disagreements over minor topics. He even sees the quiet SUNNY as someone who is a great person and believes the best in him.
HEADSPACE KEL is 12 to 13. He is an extremely high-energy and childish individual, and that should be reflected in his voice. This version of KEL should sound like a child.
His REAL WORLD counterpart is KEL.
(HAPPY) I'M GONNA NAME HIM HECTOR!!
(DISAPPOINTED) Maaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnn... AUBREY always gets what she wants.
(SAD) Sniff... We're growing up so fast...
In the REAL WORLD, after finding out about MARI's death, she began coping through having strong feelings of hatred against her old friend group, interpreting their reactions as them moving on too quickly. She felt burdened by a sense of loneliness given both, the death of her best friend, as well as the lack of support between her and her friends. She turned short-tempered and violent, taking those bursts out on others, one of the main victims of her bullying being BASIL with THE HOOLIGANS. She's cold and hostile to her old friends at first, not afraid to fight them. Even so, she's trying to find peace by praying.
REAL WORLD AUBREY is around 16-17. She should have a cool and collected voice when unprovoked, but extremely emotional when angry or upset, even more so than HEADSPACE AUBREY. Her voice can be medium to high-pitched, but she should not sound like an adult.
Her HEADSPACE counterpart is AUBREY.
Line 1 occurs while AUBREY is having an emotional outburst. Everything she has been holding back for years is coming out in a single moment. Please express these emotions in your audition, thank you!!
(AGGRESSIVE) Wow. It really is you. It's been a while, but you haven't changed a bit. How long has it been since you left your house? Three years...? Maybe four? Must have been nice to live in your own little bubble.
(ACCUSITORY AND ANGRY) You think I'm the bully, but you're all messed up too... Where were you when MARI died? WHERE WERE ANY OF YOU!? And you... You're the worst, BASIL. How dare you still show your face to me after what you did!
(EMBARRASSED AND YELLING) What the-? W-What the heck are you guys doing here!?
During her youth, AUBREY is very cheerful and is always happy to play with her friends. Despite this, she becomes sad and worried quite easily, such as being the most anxious when BASIL goes missing. Often she is clumsy, resulting in yelling from KEL, who she always fights with. She is also shown to be very emotional at times when something bad happens but still retains her happy lucky-go attitude. These traits are shared with her HEADSPACE counterpart, albeit slightly different from her puppy love persona towards OMORI.
Out of the four friends, AUBREY is the one who shows the most emotion. While she doesn't necessarily overreact to things, she is not afraid of showing whether or not she's happy or upset.
HEADSPACE AUBREY is around 12-13. She should sound like a child.
Her REAL WORLD counterpart is AUBREY.
(EXCITED) Hi OMORI! We were hoping you'd come by soon. Wanna play cards with us? We were just about to start another game!
(PANICING) Help me up, guys! I'm stuck.
(SERIOUS) KEL, stop messing around and get me out of here.
During his youth, HERO is the peacemaker of the group, who tries to restrain his friends whenever they get too worked up. He is described as having a mild personality and passionate in domestic work like baking, cooking and cleaning, making him an ideal employee. HERO also has a charismatic side that he uses to charm others. His charisma allows him to convince others to go along with his requests, get discounts from MAILBOX and befriend animals like EMS. However, he can sometimes be a pushover when confronted, and has difficulty refusing others. He also appears to have arachnophobia (an irrational fear of spiders) to the point of freezing up completely.
HEADSPACE HERO has a mild personality. Being the oldest, he is the role-model of the group and therefore has more of a mature tone compared to his friends.
HERO is around 15 years old. His voice can be anywhere from low to medium pitched, but he should not sound like an adult.
His REAL WORLD counterpart is HERO.

(IRRITATED) KEL and AUBREY have been fighting a lot again. You would think they'd get tired of it after a while, but they're both just so full of energy.
(HAPPY) MARI and BASIL invited us for a picnic at the playground! Did you want to go see them?
(SHUDDERING) Ugh... Spiders...
Compared to HEADSPACE BASIL, the real-world version is more anxious and sensitive. He appears to fear major changes in his life and finds the most comfort in maintaining his reality as "uncompromised" as possible. This can be observed through analyzing his logic, when helping SUNNY with the shielding of MARI's death, often mentioning when referring to SUNNY "he did it, in hopes of things becoming fixable".
This could also explain his sense of comfort behind physical possessions making him recall pleasant memories. He is a target for bullying, typically by AUBREY and her friends, but usually KEL and SUNNY save him from the harassment. In some scenes, such as when he locks himself in his room, he appears to be more closed off than usual. Due to being a witness to MARI's murder, it can be inferred that he suffers from guilt or worse, possibly in the form of SOMETHING.
This version of BASIL is much more nervous and volatile than HEADSPACE BASIL. He should always seem nervous, but shouldn't stutter outside of when indicated in dialogue.

The voice actor chosen for this role will also voice STRANGER.
Line 2 happens at the climax of BASIL's emotional arc. He should be at his most intense at this moment. He should sound like he's in the middle of a mental breakdown.
(STUDDERING) O-Oh... A-Alright then... Thank you.
(YELLING) S-STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! I don't... want to be... alone... not again. You... can't... leave me... again...
(CLINGGY) I'll protect you no matter what, SUNNY. You can count on me!
BASIL is depicted as a relatively shy and socially anxious boy, well seen right after being introduced to the friend group, being very insecure and fearing of being perceived as a burden. He enjoys taking pictures, as his memories with his friends are his most treasured belonging, perceiving them as a way to permanently capture the moment. He also enjoys taking care of flowers, art, and reading. Basil seems to develop strong emotional attachments to many of his possessions, mentioning "He will never throw away anything, no matter how worthless it is."
He's very sentimental, keeping memorabilia of his friends and happy memories through photos, and planting flowers that remind him of his friends, taking great care to plant flowers with flower language corresponding to how he sees his friends. His empathy stretches to his plants as well, showing a lot of worries when they're in danger of being hurt, and talking to them as he would with his friends. It is noted that he avoids conflict. He doesn't learn to battle, even after his friends nag him to.
HEADSPACE BASIL is a very soft-spoken character and his words should have a hint of anxiety behind them. Despite this, he should still have a cheerful persona.

(INCREASINGLY ANXIOUS) Hm? That's strange. A photo must have been loose. Huh? What is this? Did I take this photo? Something about it seems... so familiar. N-No...That can't be... MARI... She's..."
(CHEERFUL) Sorry, KEL. I only take photos of people when they least expect it!
(EXCITED) I just finished planting some little sprouts and wanted to show everyone. Come on! They're really cute!

She's often spoken of as being kind and gentle and plays a sisterly role in the friend group with SUNNY, HERO, KEL, AUBREY, and BASIL. Her first appearance shows she has a mischievous side, poking fun at KEL and AUBREY's mannerisms and afterward teasing HERO. These traits are shared with her HEADSPACE counterpart.
MARI is 15-16 years old. She should have a medium to high-pitched voice. She should not sound like an adult.
This role will also be voicing SOMETHING.
(COMFORTING TO YELLING) I’m not done talking. Sunny don’t run away… I love you and care about you, but you have to understand that every musician takes time to be successful. YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU CAN'T JUST RUN AWAY FROM YOUR PROBLEMS!
(COMFORTING) You know... Waltzes were always my favorite. That's why I chose this song for our last recital.
(ENCOURAGING) Everyone... I know it's tough right now, but we have to stay positive! We should all try to be like BASIL! Even when BASIL is upset, he always manages to smile!
