Vocally Comitted - A New Acapella Group
Project Overview
Hello! (Read till the end before you audition)
Thanks for taking time of your busy life to read this description. I'm a musician who's working with composing and even studied it. My plan is to do a one off or maybe 2-3 songs. I've been working with writing the sheet music and I'll be singing baritone. I'm also working on a video editing portfolio.
Vocally Committed, is just a placeholder name for this small project where I've written acapella sheets and now want to make them real. I might accept two altos, two sopranos etc. I ask that you type in your audition that you're okay with being on screen as well for the sake of editing these covers as small music videos. Being able to read sheet music isn't a must but it's definitely a bonus.
In your auditions I ask all of you to pick whatever pop and jazz song you want. The third request is a musical piece I've selected. Why? Because I find those to be more challenging and while I'm not going to be that challenging, I want to ensure that who I work with has the capabilities and the range in case I do changes. I ask that in your audition you'll also tell me your social handles such as Discord and if you have a YouTube, please link it to me. Last thing to add, I want you to also sing some scales. Make sure your audio is clear. The less background noise the better.
What songs are we doing covers on? It's nothing NSFW. I'll ensure that much. I'll keep that to myself a bit but I want you to have an open mind to whatever it is. The price of 15USD is also negotiable based on experience. I'll pay at maximum 40USD per piece so it's always negotiable if you give me a good case. The payment is per song and not for the whole project.
The proper way for you to audition is to...
...sing ALL of the requested stuff. (Most preferably in one file but if needed, do multiple submissions.)
...sing some scales
...write your socials
...let me know if you can read sheet music or not.
...write that you're okay to film yourself and for that content to eventually be uploaded.
I personally would like to use Discord however if you don't have an account or simply don't want to use Discord, DM me and I'll make sure to find an alternative way for us to communicate.
Singer
The Soprano. Usually the melody, sitting on top of the harmony — but not always. Depending on the arrangement, the lead may switch to another part, so stay flexible and be ready to adapt to different genres. In your audition, choose a song that shows off your range and tone. Keep each track between 30s–1m.

Singer
The Alto. Usually the harmony beneath the melody, filling out the chord and adding richness — but not always. Depending on the arrangement, you might carry a countermelody, double the lead an octave down, or even take the melody yourself in certain sections or genres. Stay flexible. In your audition, pick a song that shows off your blend and your ear for harmony. Keep each track between 30s–1m.

The Tenor. Often the higher male harmony line, sitting above the bass and below (or interlocking with) the lead — but arrangements vary, and tenors frequently carry melody, falsetto lines, or riff-heavy parts depending on genre. Be ready to adapt. In your audition, choose a song that highlights your range and flexibility. Keep each track between 30s–1m.

Singer
The Bass. Typically anchoring the low end — root notes, walking bass lines, rhythmic foundation — though some arrangements ask the bass to step into melodic or even lead moments. Stay open to that. In your audition, pick a song that shows off your low range, tone, and time feel. Keep each track between 30s–1m.

Vocal Percussion (VP). The rhythmic backbone of the group, also known as the beatboxer — kick, snare, hi-hat, and beyond, built entirely with your voice. Style and complexity will shift depending on genre, from straightforward pop/rock grooves to more intricate breakbeats or vocal drumming. Be ready to adjust your kit to fit the song. In your audition. Keep each track between 30s–1m.
